36 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2021

The left sliding door has locked up and will not open manually, by key fob, or the overhead buttons. Cannot get out of this door in case of an accident. I haven't taken to dealer because they want $120 just to look at it. No warnings in the vehicle prior to the door locking up.

37 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2021

Driver side sliding door couldn't be opened manually or with electronic key fob. Anyone seated in second row, driver's side, would have to exit by climbing over to another door or try to get out of a window. Vehicle was taken to a Dodge dealer who confirmed the actuator had failed and that was why the door would not open no other parties have inspected this vehicle for this problem. Once the issue was repaired, I traded this van off for a new vehicle. There were no warnings that this was going to happen. I just went to open the sliding door and it would not budge.

38 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2021

Passenger side rear door is making a buzzing noise! will cost over $500 to fix. After researching multiple other van owners are having this same issue this should be recalled this vehicle is only 6 years old !!.

39 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2021

Vehicle was loaded with 5 people. At destination the passenger sliding door would not unlock. It will still not unlock after trying to push the inside manual lock switch. It will not unlock after trying "fixes" on the internet. I consider it a safety issue when the kids cannot get out of a door that cannot be manually unlocked or opened in any way. Dealer says ~$600 to fix and that is only for one door. They say the other should be replaced also. The problem is the door lock solenoid that burns out. I do not control the number of times the solenoid is operated, that is programmed by the manufacturer. This is not acceptable to have to pay fix a safety issue. There should be a recall and the dealer should fix the problem for free.

40 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

Loud buzzing sound when you lock doors.

41 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2021

Both passenger and drivers side sliding doors emits a buzzing sound when unlock / locking. Driver side sliding now no longer locks, the auto open/close feature does not work, and often times cannot securely close the door without manual manipulation. Back seated passengers now must exit from the front. This concerns me, especially in the case of an emergency.

42 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2021

I have 2 issues related with the sliding doors. The first one driver sliding door does not open I can’t use the remote control to unlock. I can’t open the door manually from inside or outside. The second one is the passenger sliding door does not lock manuallly or with the remote control I have more than 2 years with this problem.

43 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2021

Driver side sliding door does not latch under normal use. It will constantly cycle through opening and closing to no end. This will happen when driving which is a major safety issue. I found the following workaround (which is an unreasonable daily activity for a family): 1. Park car 2. Turn on child lock 3. Put key in accessory 4. With drivers window down, and all doors closed except the drivers sliding door, press lock button on the door panel. 5. Close drivers side sliding door 6. Never let people in/out the defective door or will have to repeat the above steps. I received a letter from fiat Chrysler identifying issues with the power lock actuator, however it does not address the door latch. In my case the passenger door power lock actuator was defective and replaced under a new extended warranty, but not the latch.

44 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2021

The sliding doors on the 2016 doge caravan quit working and are in locked position with no way to open ( really bad if young ones are strapped in their car seats) Chrysler will not help in any way, body shop wants to cut holes in door, Dodge dealer was pretty informed on it but said they probably will break something trying to repair it, cost per door $150 to 300 or more. How can this not be a serious safety concern?. Quite frankly the Chrysler service line is poor to useless.

45 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2021

The drivers side sliding door won’t open. We have tried locking and unlocking the door, but the lock won’t move. We have tried opening using the indoor and outdoor handles, driver and passenger buttons, and key fob. We have tried changing out the fuse. When getting a repair for another issue, the mechanics were unable to open the door as well. This poses a safety issue because in case of an accident that renders the other sliding door unusable, passengers would not be able to exit the vehicle.

46 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2021

The sliding door is sealed shut. . It will not open by the fob or manually effectively trapping passengers including my disabled son in the vehicle. Unsafe and should be recalled.

47 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2021

Passenger sliding door lock and latch failed. The repair cost $1,206. 47 at the dealer. The dealer will only guarantee the new lock for two years!.

48 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2021

No warning lamps. I managed to reset the actuator but it jammed up again. The doors won't unlock or lock depending on the position the actuator failed in. I haven't taken this to a dealer, but based on several videos and forum questions I was able to self diagnose and reproduce the problem.

49 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2021

The driver's side power-sliding rear door will not operate using the key fob, the center button in the front seat, or by manually pulling the inside or outside handle. It appears as though the lock mechanism is stuck in the locked position.

50 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

The right rear door will not lock causing a concern for my safety at any time I'm in the public. Anyone can enter that door if they just tried to see if its unlocked. I cannot stress this enough as I am an uber driver and sometimes unruly passenger try to get into my car without my permission. That can also be anyone who is preying on women to kidnap them.

51 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2021

Rear sliding door suddenly became stuck in the locked position and I am unable to open the door in any way. This is causing my children to have to exit the van on the traffic side of the car. This would also leave my child trapped in the car should an emergency arise or an accident occur on the other side of the van.

52 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

Passenger side sliding door would not lock electronically. I forced the lock to move and now it makes a loud buzzing sound.

53 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2021

My drivers side passenger door will not open or unlock. After some research it seems its the actuator. Which is costly to repair and a safety hazard. I read lots of complaints about the door being stuck and all of a sudden coming open while driving. This is a safety hazard especially with kids in the car. Or what if theres an accident and we cant get the door opened to get everyone out safetly.

54 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

Driver side motorized sliding door stuck closed and will not unlock to open. Cannot manually unlock door as the mechanism will not move. Unlocking by key fob or button will not work either. Issue found after parking vehicle upon arrival home. The door would not open and I had to roll down the window to get my infant out of the car seat located by the stuck door. I have four children in the back who are now limited to entering and exiting through a single passenger side door. If there was an accident or emergency they would not be able to exit the vehicle through the driver side sliding door. This is a major safety issue with my children being the most at risk due to a failure of the sliding door locking actuator. With a high cost of repair and no recall Chrysler is jeopardizing the lives of many in a vehicle made for families. The issue is acknowledged in safety bulletin 23-017-20 but this may not be covered by warranty. There needs to be a recall for this issue immediately.

55 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2021

I drive 10 minutes and parked. I went to unlock rear driver side sliding door. It was stuck. My infant daughter is there and I could not manually or electronically get the door to open. It's a safety concern.

56 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

Our passenger sliding door, of our 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, has been making a buzzing noise when we hit the unlock button. After doing some reading we had concerns the door would soon not function. Then, just a couple weeks later, our driver's side sliding door was stuck in the lock position. It can't open, manually or automatically. Huge safety concern. I brought it into the shop and the driver's side sliding door will be $1,000 to fix and the passenger door will be soon to follow. It sounds like this is a common problem in these Grand Caravans. Something isn't right.

57 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2021

The driver's side passenger sliding door has been in the locked position for some time now and it cannot be opened manually or electronically. I came out of the store into the parking lot and tried to open the side door to load my groceries with no success. I have been doing some research and apparently this is a common problem in the Chrysler/Dodge minivans. This is a safety hazard not to mention a very expensive problem to fix. I would like this issue to be examined and possibly recalled.

58 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

The drivers side sliding door will not unlock manually, I was told it is a bad actuator. This poses a safety risk for passengers in the second and third rows if they must exit the vehicle in an emergency. This is a prevalent problem with is year, make and model and should be a recall due to the safety risks.

59 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2020

All of a sudden the driver side sliding door is frozen locked and will not open. I have tried everything to be able to open the door - from outside and inside and it does not unlock or open. This is a serious safety issue - if my grandchildren are sitting in the middle and back seats - how will they get out in an emergency?.

60 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

The driver's side sliding door does not unlock or open. The locking mechanism is stuck in the lock position and does not allow the door to unlock/open. This happened without any external cause. It just stopped working one day and is a safety concern due to children unable to exit the vehicle in the event of an emergency.

61 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2020

The driver side passenger door will not open and is "locked". No manual or fob attempt will allow entry or exit. In the event of an accident no one will be able to open this door. This is reported 100's of times on various sites as a known issue with this model.

62 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2020

Lock actuator in passenger side sliding door does not function, buzzes loudly. Whether vehicle is stationary or moving, lock fails.

63 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2020

Our sliding door has seized up in the lock position. We are unable to open it at all. After reading hundreds of other complaints it sounds like the sliding door actuator needs to be replaced. This is on one side but now the other side is sounding like it may go as well. Having doors we can not open is a safety issue and needs to be fixed before we are comfortable driving with our children again. The vehicle is a 2016 Dodge caravan and just broke 60k miles. Average fix is over $1100 and the mechanics are all to familiar with the issue.

64 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2020

When doors are unlocked a loud clicking/grinding noise happens in back passenger side sliding door . . Not sure if door stays locked. . Haven't really tested in while in motion.

65 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2020

Driver side back sliding door will not open. Does not open manually or with the key fob.

66 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

Rear sliding doors get stuck on the lock position and can't be opened (defective actuator). The dealer will not replace it. If rear-end crash or fire possible death may occur.

67 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

I bought a 2016 Dodge caravan new from the dealership and have had several issues with rear sliding doors not opening. They replaced the door relay shortly after purchasing this vehicle. On numerous occasions 1 or both rear sliding doors with lock and won't release from the inside or outside after unlocking with key fob and then tried manually unlocking from inside. This has happened many times in the winter and after about 5 minutes of driving the door will open as I'm driving. I have small children and this is a serious safety issue. This is now happening in the summer as well making me think it wasn't due to frozen doors. I've taken the vehicle to the dealership and they can't find the problem because the doors will eventually release before I can get to dealership after work.

68 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

The driver side sliding door stopped functioning. It is stuck in locked position rendering it unusable in an emergency situation. The lock cannot be freed automatically or manually.

69 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side door failed to operate correctly. The air bag warning light illuminated when the seat belt was engaged. The vehicle was taken to rio vista Dodge Chrysler Jeep inc (1006 state highway 12, directions rio vista, CA 94571-1442) where the vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the OCS passenger rear door motor failed and needed to be replaced.
