general problems of the 2000 Dodge Intrepid

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. The vehicle has dominator all season tires, size p225/75r15. While driving 65 mph, the contact heard a smacking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. He pulled over and noticed that the rear driver's side tire had been separating and peeling off, leaving pieces of rubber in the middle of the road. He took the vehicle to a nearby gas station and had the tire replaced. The contact believes that the tire should not have separated so quickly and that a recall should be issued. The VIN and dot number were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 89,000.

Last spring I had to replace the cooper tires on the front of my car because they were causing my car to vibrate even though the tread and tire pressure were perfect. I still had cooper tires on the rear of my car and while driving down the interstate the tread of my rear right tire exploded causing me to almost lose control of my car. It tore off my rear bumper and did damage underneath the car. Currently I do have quotes to repair the damage, but am waiting to find out if cooper tire will pay for the repairs.

A few days before the failure, we noticed a vibration in the front of the car. We thought it was a balance problem and made arrangements to have it re-balanced. When we contacted good year, they said there were no problems with a blow out of this type and we would be compensated with a pro-rated discount for one new tire, as there was only a 38% usage on the separated tire.
