Driving 30 mph at approximately 6:30 pm and the car just died in rush hour traffic had to push to a side street and it would not restart, after researching I have found this is common to this model and so far have found no solutions but it is very dangerous as you loose your power steering and brakes this issue needs to be addressed by Dodge as other reports have been reported on the freeway at higher speeds. The reports I have read thus far have found no fix for this problem and is very expensive to find as you just guess at wich part to change or where to look, we need help.
2003 Dodge Intrepid, unit 1 was eastbound on the ohio turnpike when the left front tire came off the vehicle.
1999 Dodge Intrepid- originally taken to the dealer with a right-passenger window defect as the window would not go up and down electronically. Next, it was the air-conditioner which was repaired but did not work correctly. You had to turn the know to heat and then back to air-conditioning. Most recently, when you touched the brake and then tried to accerlerate the car would stall in the middle of an intersection. I brought the car to our mechanic for this repair and was told there was a problem with the computer. It was running hot and then would drop. They replaced a thermostat, idling motor and the computer. They had to keep the vehicle for two weeks. We were also apprised of a sludge problem with this vehicle. The air bag light does not go off and the mileage not longer appears and only the tripometer. This vehicle is approximately six years old and it has had consistant problems. In reviewing the recals on this model, they have only been related to seatbelts.
The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked on the driver side. The vehicle is often parked in direct sunlight. The crack has not begun to spread. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer. The current mileage is 79,000 and failure mileage was 50,000.
Heater blowing cold air. Took it for an oil change on the 17th of January; heard a knocking noise that day, the next morning it didn't start. Had it towed to a mechanic. He refused to touch it, stating the timing chain was broke and the engine was junk. Had it towed to Dodge city of countryside (where I bought the car) on 1/21/05 where it has been since. They say I have not maintained the vehicle, the engine blew due to excessive oil sludge, but that there was no problem with the timing chain. The service manager was rude and ignorant. I have the 6 year, 75,000 extended warranty thru daimler Chrysler. This car has only 43,000 miles on it and I refuse to pay for the new engine out of my own pocket. So, now I am being charged a storage fee and I have to pay for a rental which is costing me alot of money.
Recall campaign received concerning transaxle floor shifter ignition/park interlock failure.

Our 2002 Dodge Intrepid is a terrible automobile just like the 2002 caravan that we previously had that dallas Dodge replaced with this Intrepid because daimler Chrysler does not stand behind there vehicles.

Ever since I purchased my 1999 Dodge Intrepid at the Dodge downtown la, many problems have occurred. The first problem was that sensors in the car kept blowing out, heater/ac went out and window motor blew out. All of these problems occurred more then once. Dodge downtown la could never determine what was wrong with the vechicle. A couple of weeks later, the engine blew out. All together I have spent $3000 for my car. I wish I would have knew what was wrong with my car before the problem got worse. Dodge downtown of la was not helpful to me in my situation.
Have had my car in several times for the check engine light coming on. The first visit they dismissed it and said it was probably the gas was probably loose and reset the sensor. 2nd time they said the sensor was bad so they replaced that. Now today it came on again w/ a definate leak somewhere because of a smell of gas. I will find out tomorrow what they "think" it is this time.

Engine light comes on then vehicle runs rough and won"t run above 40 m. P. H. Car has been to dealer on five occasions with multiple parts replaced but it hasn"t solved the problem.
The underside of instrument panel on driver's side obstructs the usage of brake & accelerator pedal. This causes loss of driving or control of vehicle while backing out of driveway. Been to dealership & mechanic drilled holes in panel. Problem not solved.

Noticed the smell of gas in and around the car. Made appointment for normal maintenance check and found out fuel rail was leaking gas. Luckily I had a warrenty contract for which the part for replacement of fuel rail was covered. I do have a $100. 00 CO-pay for which I would like to have refunded. Was told by Chrysler corp. That this was not possible, without the correction to fuel rail my car could have been engulfed in flames while driving. Chrysler could at least refund my CO-pay. I don't think I should pay for their bad parts. I was also told by Chrysler that they were not going to recall the 1996 Dodge Intrepid. It has the same fuel rail problem as the 1993 which was recalled this year.
Chemical odor in vehicle causes sores in eyes and nose. Chrysler refuses to test air.

Small ledge on the dashboard is inviting to place coins there. Coins can slide out and go into the steering column shroud and lock the steering wheel unexpectedly.
On hot days (90 degrees +), the entire interior lighting package comes "on" unexpectedly. This is very annoying during the day, and a serious safety hazard after dark. I asked sunshine Dodge (dealer) to investigate and repair the problem. They claim they were unable to replicate the conditions. It is now a matter of record that this car has this specific manufacturing defect. If I get into an accident as a result, Chrysler corp. Pays.
