Equipment Problems of Dodge Intrepid

The car has major engine problems like all the 03 2. 7 l eng se. Connecting rods is falling out, and etc. The car is unbalance. I took the car today to find why the oli light was coming on when the vehicle thermostat rises. Turn out the engine isn't allowing the oil to reach the upper part of the engine and that is causing my vehicle to overheat and make noises on startup. And also when you reverse you hearthe car make a bad knock sound and feel the vibration. This car only has 86000 miles and the mechanics could only shake their heads. This car should be in better condition then this. Anyways, the cost for new engine with warranty is over $6000. And that includes everything! now who has that type of money and why didn't Dodge recall this problem on the 03 Dodge Intrepid??? all I want is the engine replace and Dodge could do that at any of their companies or auto lots. I'm a simple person. I just want to work and be at peace.

I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid bought almost a year ago. Had a short in the ignition had to wiggle key to get somethings to kick on. Then a mth ago. I was at a stop light started to take off it vibrated really bad and now it's stuck in low gear. Then it had a problem starting, something drains the battery. Check engine light on. 2 machinics looked my car it won't read diagnostics because there's a short in electronical system.

Every time I go to slow down I stall. I have taken it in to be serviced. I'm not sure what part they changed but it's still doing it. I'm afraid to drive the car. I bought it because I was told it was a good family car. I can't even see my grand kids I'm to afraid to drive it. When I say it stall all the time I live 13 miles from work and I will stall 6 times before I get there.

I was driving at approximately 50mph and started slowing down to get on the freeway during rush hour. I had a hard time braking and notice the accelerator was stuck. The car was still accelerating even when I applied the brakes. I had to push as hard as I could on the brakes to get the vehicle to slow down. This incident went on for at least three miles until the accelerator popped back to it's original setting. The same thing has happened in three separate incidents since.

The air bag light stays on constantly which affects the electric windows & the heating/ac component. When the air bag light came on the windows & heater/ac stopped working. Additionally, the steering wheel locking mechanism is defective because it does not lock the steering wheel at all when the ignition is in the off position. I had a 1993 Dodge Intrepid with the same airbag light problem described above, I was able to get the light to go off at times by adjusting the steering wheel which allowed the electric windows and heater/ac to work until the light would come back. On. The difference is I cannot get the airbag light to turn off at all on the 1996 model, the difference being between the two models is that the 93 had the gear shifter on the floor console; while 96 is on the column. The fact that the 93 and 96 both have the same airbag light affecting the electric windows & the heater/ac is not a coincidence. I've been told by mechanics that one thing should affect the other, but my personal experience shows that to be untrue. In my opinion there is a safety issue with either the sensors or something in the ignition switch, or possibly the wiring within the steering column due to possibility of manufacturing issues. This does pose as a safety issue because the windows will not roll down and the heater/ac will not cool/heat the car and the defroster cannot clear the windows of condensation; which creates obstructured view. The nonworking heater/ac severely restricts the times you can drive the car, unless you would like to risk heat exhaustion during summer or frostbite during the winter.

2000 Dodge Intrepid blew then moter I am stuck with out a vehical and still making payments. When I contacted the plac3e they said that I would have to prove that the moters were junk I need help.

I have a huge loan left on my 2000 Dodge Intrepid and now I have to put more money into it to get a new engine. I was driving to work one day and I heard a knocking sound in my engine but there wasn't any lights that came on that said 'service engine soon'. I had my mechanic look at it and he found that the tming chain broke. I looked on the internet and this is happening a lot and not just with the 2000 Dodge Intrepid, it's with whatever vehicle's that have a 2. 7 liter engine in them.
