1 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

Intermittent problems with the car starting, lights will flicker and car will make clicking noise after the initial flicker. The car could take anywhere from a few minutes to 1 or 2 hours to start. While driving the car will start to shake and then shut off when slowing down or coming to a stop (red light or stop sign). The car sometimes won't start up or will immediately shut off again while in the middle of a city street. This is a safety hazard because we have toddler and soon to be newborn who will almost always be in the car.

4 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

The horn/alarm will sound randomly and for no apparent reason, often going down the road or in the middle of the night. The keyfob will lodge in and the entire electrical system is "dead". Replaced battery thinking it was battery issue. Entire electrical system is "dead" every few days. There is a strange drag/click sound when turning wheel. Many other electrical issues that are bizarre and completely random. At times you have to start, kill, restart engine and finally will go in gear. I keep checking for recalls as this appears, through multiple posts I have read, to be an issue with this year model. I can't afford to keep taking to dealerships for issues that clearly are related to the manufacturing of the vehicle.

5 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2014

Vehicle started to have a clicking noise a month prior to failure. After a cold snap, the engine began running very roughly at start. Diagnostics show that the #2 cylinder is failing, and leading to weak air intake in cylinders #4 and #6. My research has indicated that Dodge is aware of thousands of complaints of a cylinder head failure in the engine in this model of car. These failures have lead to a nationwide shortage of the parts to fix the problem, I am currently 379th on a list requesting the parts to fix this problem. Dodge seems to be knowingly aware of a major design flaw and is offering no help to people like myself that are outside of warranty coverage.

6 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

My first complaint is that if my husband or myself accidentally hit the ignition switch while the car is in motion the car will shut off. In addition if this happens before we start driving the car will shut off and the dash board, the center console and the ac will all shut off. I have informed Dodge of this problem twice and have not gotten any correspondance in return. During the second call I was informed that if I did not have a recall notice sent to me that my car is not apart of any active recalls and therefore they cannot do anything for me. Secondally, just recently on 10/16/2014 while I was trying to take my 7 year old son to the er, my car would not start. I thought it could be the battery, but the lights and everything else was working. After several attempts and after me tapping the ignition switch the car finally started. Everything in the car comes on however, the car makes a clicking noise and does nothing else. A week later it did the same exact thing on 10/22/14. I looked online and all behold there are several complaints going back to 2009 there are also youtube videos. My question is why is Dodge not being held responsible for there negligence, cleary there is a known issue. What tragedy has to happen before Dodge does something to resolves these issues for their customers. I would also like to add that the Dodge Journey is by far the worst car that Dodge has ever produced!.

8 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

I have had 2010 Dodge Journey since may 2012 and needed to take car to dealerlship for atleast 4 different issues. However, the problem that occured on February 28, 2013 has me bewildered and very uneasy about driving with my family and ever ever purchasing a Dodge or Chrysler vehicle again-and the u. S. A. Wants us to buy and support american made products. On 02/28/12, I was rushing to get my son to a meeting and when we got out of car, locked the door and went in building. When we returned, put the key in ignition and just clicking noise with everything working except for the car cranking. I waited about 30 minutes and then tried to crank but no such luck. It was late in the evening, and here I am with my babies in the car, on a school night, and trying to call a tow. My cousin did come out, we attempted jumper cables and then went to get gas and it started. I went to the gas station to fill up just in case, ignition still on and the car cuts off and doesnt restart. I contacted a tow again and an hour and half later when tow arrived; it cranked for the tow driver. Once I got home and parked, the car would not start again. When my husband got home about 4hours later, it still would not crank. On 3/1/13 attempted to take kids to school and car would not start. It did finally crank after it was too late and we took to a licensed mechanic to complete a diagnostic. He kept all day testing and to no avail, no codes or problems appeared. It did crank but I'm very fearful of driving the car now with my family. I contacted several Dodge dealerships, Dodge customer service, and Dodge techauthority and no one seemed to know or have heard of the problem im having.

9 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2011

I purchased a 2010 Dodge Journey (used) in September, 2010. My problem first occurred in may, 2011. I went out to my car leaving work, and it would not start. Lights/horn/locks/radio all worked, but all I got when I turned the key was a clicking sound. At first thought, I figured the battery may have died and needed a jump-start. But this did not work. After trying for 1. 5 hours, I finally had the vehicle towed to a dealership. As soon as the vehicle was released from the tow truck, it cranked right up. I had the dealer run a full diagnostic check on it, since it was there and problem had occurred. But they found nothing wrong. I drove the car home, and the problem began to occur more frequently. It has occurred at least twice a week, with wait times varying. Sometimes it'll start after 5 minutes. Other times, I have waited 2-3 hours without it starting, and have been forced to have the vehicle towed. Over the past year I have driven (or towed) this vehicle back to my local Dodge dealership a 10 times! the most recent visit was on 7/29/12, when I paid to have the win module and key fob replaced, and it still doesn't work. I have been given several reasons for the problem, all of which they have supposedly fixed (either at the expense of my extended warranty or at my own expense). Other times, I have simply been told there is nothing they can do because they cannot duplicate the problem when they have it. I have filed 2 separate complaints with Chrysler corporation, but no help. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. I transport my 3 grandchildren on a daily basis (two 4-month old twins, born prematurely). I live in TX, where temperatures reach as high as 110+. I am very afraid of having my grandchildren in the car with me, and the car will not start for 2-3 hours, forcing us to wait in the 100+ temperatures to see if the car will decide to work. Please help!!!.

10 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

I bought my car December of 2010 and since owning it has been nothing but issues. I did have some things fixed right after purchase and others they said they saw no issue. My vehicle keeps loosing coolant and was overheating which not burnt my reservoir, my car doesn't always start which has happened since I purchased, door lock doesn't work on driver door, and horn was sounding while driving and alarm was constantly going off until I removed fuse, and fuse box always has a clicking noise. I am not the only one with issues with this vehicle I have seen manau with similar issues and they are all extremely dangerous especially with children in the car. Also my car made a terrible growling noise and I had transmission replaced. Please help get these investigated it's terrible. Never again will I purchase a Dodge or advise anyone to do so. Would be a great car if it didn't always have these issues. Just want problems addressed for all owners so they can enjoy a car they bought with their families.
