Due to opening and closing the rear hatch, the wiring harness wires running from the car through the hatch break and fray causing many issues. One being the potential for exposed wires to spark and cause a fire. Others being faulty rear windshield wiper and faulty rear lighting. Brake lights, turn signals, running lights and rear interior lights causing a road hazard.
Purchased my 2014 Dodge Journey in feburary 2019. Before having couple recalls done on my I had no lights on my dash board ever since purchased my car. Then I had recall t47 done on my car in April 2019 there begins to start randomly flashing the airbag deployment light on my dashboard. Could be in park or in gear the light will appear and stay all at random. Contacted dealership to schedule an additional recall and informed them of this airbag lighting issue. Was told that it caused from my seatbelt wiring. If that was the case then the light would have came on before ever having any recalls done more specifically the t47 recall for exactly that issue with the airbag wiring. Then the guy attempts to provide me with a quote on how much they were going to try and charge me to have it fixed !! I dont know what you would call this but I know it can not be legal !! please investigate and help stop this from happening to anyone else who uses this dealership !!!.
Wife got into car to go to store told me done lights would not go off. I tried every switch in the car but nothing would turn them off. I sent her to store anyway knowing that battery would not die in that amount of time. Wife returned from grocery store stating something smells hot. I looked in car again and I also smelled burnt wiring. I looked at the middle seat light and saw smoke. I quickly popped the lens off the dome light and saw dripping melting plastic. I disconnected the light and tossed it out in the lawn. Dodge sent an inspector to look at the event and I received a letter stating that any done light will become hot if left on. I asked them if they were supposed to smoke, melt and almost drip on a 3 year old child's head. Even the harness melted. They don't think this is a big deal but I believe (and other people have looked at it ) believe it is. Very dangerous! I've left a dome light on in many cars over the years and none started melting. I've tried to relay this to Dodge but can't get anyone but a level 1 person to talk to. I'm really beside myself on this. I can't understand how this is a big deal. I'm hoping by contacting this agency I can get a resolution and possibly prevent someone from getting seriously injured.
One of the biggest problem is the back doors not locking when in drive like they use to. My sons door didn't lock like normal (inside door child lock was locked too) but worse of all my car didn't even show that the door was open in the back and I didn't hear him fall out and it open and he fell out while driving, my check engine has been on and my outside temp on car dash reads 185 all the time, it loses power while driving, the radio also turns volume up and down and channels changes by itself. My wipes back and front sometimes go and don't turn off. My right fender is no longer on the car because when I got a flat aaa lifted the car from the under carriage and the fender just came off on one side like bolts weren't even place on there I bought this car for safety for myself and kids and this car is not safe and Dodge won't help and I'm very upside down on it, im a recently divorced mom waiting for disability for my back. I can't afford to trade it with more money down. I paid a down 6500 and pay 400. Per month and never thought I would have to worry that my kid would fall out while child lock was on and when the doors should lock, . Now this new recall with the engine makes me worried to drive my three kids to school or anywhere for that matter.
