Speed control will not work unless you are going around 70mph and step on gas a little.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the adaptive cruise control (acc) mode failed to disengage as intended and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the windshield wipers engaged unintendedly and remained engaged after the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road. The contact's husband disconnected the battery terminals to turn off the windshield wipers; however, the vehicle failed to restart upon reconnecting the battery terminals. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2022

Rear wheel bearing is bad after only 35,000 miles causing the speed sensor to fail which causes the cruise control to fail. The wheel bearing has also caused extreme wear on the tread of my brand new tires, and the abs and stability/traction lights to come on in the dash display. I have researched this problem extensively and found that many Dodge Journey owners have experienced the same issues.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

When turning on vehicle the lightning stalls to come on properly. The dash board and radio is completely off even when vehicle has started. Speedometer does not have an accurate reading of how many miles per hour I'm truly going in which I don't feel safe due to the fact that I'm more likely to get pulled over for speeding or not driving fast enough while on the road. No one has inspected the vehicle to confirm other than myself and husband who drive the vehicle. I could be doing 20 miles a hour but the speedometer would say I'm going 45 miles a hour. I was resting at a complete stop and the speedometer stated that I was going 3 miles at a complete stop. There was no indicator flashing light or any message on the vehicle that was indicate there was a issue with the vehicle. The speedometer has been like this since April of 2022. The lighting also but it does it sporadically from time to time.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2020

I was heading to the work and the speed limit is 55 but the speed motor was saying I was going 103 miles so I pulled over turned the car off and waitress 5 minutes and then it stopped but when I got off it did the same thang again and that was a month ago and it still does it.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2020

I had pulled up to a stop light and the vehicle would not fully come to a stop so I depressed the break harder and as I release the brake the car took off and was steadily accelerating I turn the car off and got to a parking lot the tow truck driver had the same result when he tried to back the vehicle up to place it on the truck.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2020

While driving from san diego to dallas with cruise engaged it suddenly started to accelerate and became eratic speeding up and slowing down. Engine rpm fluctuated at same time. Braking did not fully disengage the system. When braked transmission would not shift and had to turn system off to halt its operation. Works fine at times then unexpectedly does it again. May be connected to operation in elevation changes.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

The stick shift that controls the vehicle for park, drive, neutral, reverse and manual modes is in the center of the vehicle, very much in the way of normal driving routines. 3 times now, since April, the shifter has accidentally been touched or bumped by the driver. Twice this happened and my car was placed into neutral in the middle of driving. Once my car was placed into reverse while driving! the placement of the shifter and the ease at which it shifts is potentially a fatal hazard.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

James town outside center TX on hwy 7 going 60-65 just had my car serviced 6/3/19 transmission runs light comes on runs hot car starts jerking and decrease then increase in speed traction control is also on I stop at the first store I see turn off the car wouldn't crank for two days 6/5/19 at 11:45-50 it starts I struggle to get it to joaquin texas where I live it jerked, increased and decreased in speed, the brake pedal was hard when cranking and touchy while driving also the transmission light and traction control was on.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

The vehicles manual and digital speedometer will occasionally stop being in sync with each other making acceleration minimal. . . My vehicle only has 14k miles on it.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

From day 1: car doesn't accelerate properly; doesn't go as it should when one pulls into traffic. Very scary! the extra gears only make the motor sound like it's going to explode, & doesn't make car move any faster/easier. I am an experienced driver with a perfect driving record; it's not the driver! second issue: the hood keeps popping up, and I fear it will eventually fly all the way up. These issues are life threatening. 3rd issue: it certainly doesn't get the gas mileage that it should, getting 16-18. Please help! as a cancer patient, I depend on this car to get to many dr visits. Thank you.
