Equipment problem #1

I recently received a safety recall in the mail from fiat Chrysler automobiles stating that the rearview camera in my vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Journey crossroad, needed to be replaced, as they were found to be defective and in violation of the federal motor vehicle safety standard. I scheduled an appointment at my local Dodge dealer, dayton andrews Dodge, on Friday 07/31 for 0745 on 08/03 for this replacement. After dropping off my vehicle at the appointed date and time and being brought back to my house by their "shuttle," a consumer grade minivan which I shared with four other passengers, I received a call at approximately 12:30 pm, where I was told they had "evaluated" my vehicle to determine whether or not I needed to have my backup camera replaced, determined that it needed replacement, and that they would need to order the backup camera and related parts which would arrive in a few days, at which time I could bring my car in again to actually have it installed. This made no sense, since this was a mandatory safety recall, and not replacing the backup camera was never an option for them, yet they booked my appointment knowing they did not have the part in stock. I was never once told that this appointment would be anything but getting the backup camera replaced, and if its efficacy was in question, they could have easily asked me on the phone if it was working properly (it has not functioned properly for years), or looked at the blank screen while the vehicle was in reverse upon my arrival at the dealership, then sent me on my way. Instead, I was duped into wasting an entire day of my life for my vehicle to receive an "evaluation," which I was never once informed of nor gave consent to, but through which they had determined that my vehicle required a fluids flushing and spark plug replacement for approximately $1100. This is obviously fraud being perpetrated to get people to purchase unnecessary, overpriced repairs.

Equipment problem #2

This car is a 2019. The transmission was replaced when it was just one year old. The transmission is now needing to be replaced again. The transmission issue has also caused the drive shaft to need replacing as well. The flag shaft in the engine had to be replaced twice in one year costing over $1,000 each time. I believe these vehicles should have more active recalls. In doing research this is an issue that many owners of this car face. I have had this vehicle for only 3 years and I am now faced with not being able to afford the repairs needed (over 6k). They are selling this car and it is a lemon.

Equipment problem #3

The back window shattered/exploded on its own without warning while parked.

Equipment problem #4

Rear backup camera is consistently distorted, inverted, or has a black or blue screen.

Equipment problem #5

My back up camera went out November 2025 and does not work. Black screen. Lakeland Dodge dealership refuses to fix for free and vehicle is not under current recall, although is a 2019 Dodge Journey gt. Safety issue and will be reported to national road safety commission.

Equipment problem #6

About 50% of the time the bluetooth in the car fails to initialize. I have to either turn the car off for about 5 minutes or pull the fuse for the radio in order to get bluetooth to connect for hands free calling and bluetooth music. I have the 8. 4 inch uconnect radio without nav or the dvd player option.

Equipment problem #7

My backup camera is showing a no camera symbol. At first the camera was showing an image upside down. Then the image was blurry and flashing. Now it isn't showing anything. I have looked it up and my year of my vehicle falls within the same issue other were recalled for but my VIN does not show up in the list.

Equipment problem #8

My back up camera was working one minute and than the next to completely stopped working!.

Equipment problem #9

My rearview camera display will show and image at times. When putting car in reverse ans or drive the screen sometimes is blank.

Equipment problem #10

The rear backup camera will fail often and stay off without any warning I was just pulling into my garage and it stopped halfway. This type of equipment failure seems to be a big issue because if I am around my kids at school or really anywhere where I use my backup camera which that's how I mainly park then I could hit somebody and I wouldn't know because the camera stops working in the middle of me backing up. The fuse boxes have been checked and there is no issues with them so I'm not sure how to fix the backup camera issue when it will kind of work but then it's like it has a short or something but I feel like it's a bigger public safety issue when I know other people with the same vehicle has this issue too.

Equipment problem #11

My vehicle, despite never displaying any warning lights or previous issues, unfortunately experienced a sudden failure while I was driving my children home. The car abruptly stopped functioning in the middle of the road, which nearly resulted in a collision with other vehicles, leaving us stranded as other cars passed by. I have since contacted Dodge and discovered online reports of transmission problems with the 2019 model, although, for reasons unknown, my specific model year is not listed. This was very dangerous and I am stuck with the repairs on a car I have not had long.

Equipment problem #12

Since we purchased our Journey in 2019 the backup camera will either stop working, show upside down images or completely stop functioning, took to dealer and was told software update would resolve it, they did something but nothing fixed it.

Equipment problem #13

The backup camera fails to work daily. It started out once in a while. Then it became more and more frequent. Every once in a while it will come on, but only for a few seconds. The image may or may not be upside-down. This has been reported with other 2019 Dodge Journey vehicles.

Equipment problem #14

My backup camera is a safety concern because it does not work. Also, my headlights are defective because moisture gets into them. These issues should be recalled.

Equipment problem #15

Windshield is coated with a plastic to prevent rock chips. The wipers have grooved the plastic. If the sun is shining and we were to try to clean the windshield it would be very hard to see the road. Seems like a manufacturing defect.

Equipment problem #16

My driver side head rest deployed without an accident.

Equipment problem #17

Back up camera stopped working.

Equipment problem #18

The back up camera has stopped working, sometimes it is a black screen, other times it's just a series of colors with no image. This makes it hard to back up safely.

Equipment problem #19

Back up camera is upside down, blurry or does not work, when in reverse.

Equipment problem #20

With less than 29000 miles the backup camera has failed. While trying to back up and use rear view mirror it’s almost impossible to see what’s behind the vehicle. Dodge says this vehicle is out of warranty because of over 36 months. What’s it take 10-12 kids to be backed over in-order to issue recalls. There’s numerous others complaining about this. Please in the interest of safety please consider recall on this. I thank you in advance for safety. Robert schaecher 1109 holiday lane kewanee, I’ll 61443 bob. Schaecher @yahoo. Com.

Equipment problem #21

As I was driving, I began to park. I put my foot on the brake and proceeded to put car in reverse. The back up camera began to flash. Once it stopped flashing, the image on the screen was upside down. It’s is available for inspection. This is a safety hazard. The purpose of the camera is so that people can see what’s behind them. If the camry isn’t functioning properly it’s can cause accidents. No warning. The camera just randomly did this. And since then the camera has been upside down. I have never had this issue before. I cut the car off for days at a time and the issue will not go away. I googled the issue and a lot of people with Dodge automobiles have had similar issues.

Equipment problem #22

Vehicle: 2019 Dodge Journey issue: rearview camera failure / malfunction I am reporting an ongoing issue with the factory-installed backup camera in my 2019 Dodge Journey. The camera has been malfunctioning for several years. The camera intermittently displayed a blank screen, glitching image, or the image would appear upside down when shifting into reverse. Over time, the issue worsened, and the camera now fails to display any image at all. This poses a significant safety concern, especially since reverse cameras are a federally required safety feature on vehicles manufactured after 2018. Despite attempted inspections, no clear fix was provided, and I believe this may indicate a manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Chrysler/stellantis acknowledge this issue and investigate whether other owners have experienced similar problems. A technical service bulletin, warranty extension, or recall may be appropriate, depending on findings. Please advise if any repair support, diagnostic guidance, or goodwill assistance is available to address this safety-critical system failure.

Equipment problem #23

While driving I came to a stop sign on a hill and the vehicle shut off on its own and started rolling backwards down the hill. I tried to brake but it wouldn't let me so I was forced to throw it into park so it would stop. This is the second time this has happened where the car shut off on its own while in drive.

Equipment problem #24

My 2019 Dodge Journey back up camera has not worked since I had the car it shows me a yellow earror sticker n is a blind spot from the flashing of the camera not working this is dangouas and could cause major crash I have tryed to get dealer to fix it now I am not under warrenty and can not fix it now this is not safe at all also my fron breaks was fully replaced brand new everything n still leaking something to wear it hard to press on break this back up camera needs to be recalled n fixed this is not right n very unsafe.

Equipment problem #25

Burning smell of fluid, plastic or metal when driving the car.

Equipment problem #26

Uconnect dont work half the time, uconnect says its a dealer problem dealer says its a uconnect problem, ready to get it all back.

Equipment problem #27

Since we purchased the vehicle in 2019 the backup camera would spoetacticly stop working (black screen with a camera and line through it) or have the camera image upside down. . When we took it into our local dealer, they said it was a software issue updated and said it was fixed. . . . But we've still have the issue and now they say the camera is faulty and want us to pay out of pocket for a replacement as well as the work and all else. . . This is a major safety issue and been plaguing Dodge vehicles.
