Unknown Or Other problem #1

I was involved in a vehicular accident on Monday, 10/01/2012 in a 2011 Dodge Journey. I have had several minor issues with the vehicle starting with the drivers seat failing to operate withthe electric controls, the glove box defect, the covers on the floor bolts especially on the drivers side slip off,.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

My vehicle intermittently starts. I put the key in the ignitions all the lights and radio and all other electrical components come on car will just not start. Took the car to the dealer for a diagnostic test all test came back fine and dealer was not able to duplicate the problem. This has been happening everyday and I have to wait hours for the car to get restarted or wait over night for the car to start again. This car is completely unreliable and I have gotten stranded with kids several times for hours.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Our electronic throttle control (etc) came on last Friday evening. We cycled the key and the etc sensor shut off. However, further searches showed that this problem could be caused by cold weather. No recalls are noted on NHTSA's website. The Dodge Journey handbook is very vague on what action should be taken if the etc sensor appears for a short time but then disappears after key cycling is complete.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The rear passenger doors can not be easily unlocked by the rear passengers. The driver or the front passenger has to push the unlock button to unlock the rear doors. The door knob ( the lock pin that goes up and down into the door) is located behind you in the rear seats because of the long doors and is very difficult to grasp and pull up to unlock the door. If there was ever a crash and the driver or front passenger was unable to hit the unlock button it would leave the back passengers trapped. This is a very poor design and a major safety hazard. Had I noticed this prior to leasing the car I would have chosen another car. The dealer states it is designed that way so that small children can not open the doors, but isn't that what the child lock feature is for. This car is an accident waiting to happen.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

My complaint consists of the tires, starter, and pressure sensors on my 2009 Dodge Journey. First, the cheapest tires my dealer can find for my vehicle are priced at $225/tire. Thus, a $1000. 00 cost for tire replacement. This would be reasonable if the vehicle was a luxury vehicle I. E. : Audi, BMW, cadilac, mercedes, etc. . . However, it is a Dodge. I have had to replace my Dodge's tires every winter since purchase. Therefore, these performance tires are only lasting approximately 20,000/miles a piece. Affordability, is why I purchased Dodge. I am not recieving this, not even in the basic maintenance of tires. Next, my starter had to be replaced recently. I was told that many Dodge Journey starters are "going. " however, with no recall on the part, I ended up paying a $100. 00 towards a deductable that is part of my warranty. Finally, I had to replace two tire sensors as well on my vehicle this year. Again, no recall on the part. Therefore, a $100. 00 deductable was required. I am disappointed that despite my warranty I am paying deductables and despite other numerous Journeys having the same problems the parts aren't being recalled. I am forced to spend $1000. 00 on tires every 20,000 miles on top of my actual monthly car payment >$500. 00. The above expenses should definitely not be required on a brand new car.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

At approximately 5000 miles, and less than 5 months old, my 2011 Dodge Journey, began to shake violently (steering wheel) when I slowed down. At first, it began at approx 52 miles an hour, and was noticeable going down small hills. It has progressively become worse; violently shaking anywhere from 30-60 miles, with the steering wheel shaking so hard it becomes difficult to manage. I first noticed it early in September. I took it to the dealer on 9/15, who confirmed that it was defective rotors. Was told the rotors would be ordered and I would be called promptly. I emailed the service manager on 9/19, and he advised it, along with a defective dash board that was bubbling, would be handled by his corporate contact, and I would receive a call. I have not. On 10/4, I received a general email from the salesman who sold me the car, checking to see how I liked the car. I explained to him the situation. On 10/5, I received an email from his manager, who said they were aware of the situation and would be contacting me soon. That was a week ago, and no contact. I have been driving in what I believe to be an extremely dangerous car. I have two children and have to drive my car to work and to care for an ill husband and mother. I am on the road a lot, and it is scary for the car to shake so violently. I believe the rotor issues obviously are damaging the brakes, but also the tires. I bought this car brand new, and to have it fail so early is very upsetting, as well as scary. I understand there were issues with the 2009-2010 Journeys as well, but was assured by the sales team at Dodge that it had been addressed and resolved and would not be an issue with the 2011 models. Please help.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

1. Two and half toddler fell inside the car in the 2nd row isle. 2. Inside seat rails are not covered as the outside ones are that are closer to the passenger doors. The potential of happening again is very high. It's consequences suffered for this negligence is the toddler needed to be taken to the emergency room, to be x-rayed and stitched up for a laserasion on the knee. Test are still pending if laserasion had any harm on muscles or tendons of the knee or leg. 3. I visited a Dodge dealer parts and service department today Tuesday August 2nd, 2011 and customer service representative verified that there is no cover that comes with the car nor that is available to fix the problem for the inside rails of the 2nd row seat.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Bought a brand new 2010 Dodge Journey and it needed new brake pads and rotors at just 19,000miles, worried brakes may fail at some point or are not sufficient enough for the vehicle. Dealership billed me $50 to get them repaired, stated Chrysler/Dodge company put a "participation fee" and if my car was over 24,000miles it would be $100. Dodge seems well aware of this issue with the brakes on these vehicles but are not doing anything about it, brakes are a top safety concern for any vehicle, and I feel I am driving a ticking time bomb especially with my children in the vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Have had ongoing issues with 2009 Dodge Journey. Vehicle loses power while driving, this has happened approximately 10 times in the last year. The tires sold on the vehicle (225-55-r19) are not replaceable. I got a flat and was told to ride on the donut until they could locate a new tire, 12 days later still no tire, I demanded the dealer sell me a tire off of a car in the lot, they finally agreed. However, I was called after I left the car and told that because it is awd all 4 tires must be replaced or it will damage my transmission and that possibly, I already have damaged due to driving on donut. Had no choice but to buy 4 new tires, while at dealer having 4 new , larger tires (235 55 r19) put on the dealer broke valve sensor on 2nd tire, 1st time they broke one was in March 2011. Vehicle has 31,000 miles on it and the sensors should last a minimum of 5 years. Dealer will not cover under warranty. After paying $827 to replace 4 tires, when I only needed 1 new tire and 2 missing valve sensors, I drove off the lot and the vehicle again lost power, dealer has had vehicle in at least 4 times to fix problem in the past, they still have not resolved or located the problem. I restarted vehicle and it died again, restarted a 3rd time and I lost all dash lighting. This was within an 8th of mile of the dealer location. I turned the car around and returned it to the dealer, which is where it remains until they can fix it!! nys attorney general states this does not qualify as a "lemon" because the dealer attempted to repair, I disagree! I am filing a 2nd lemon law case with them at this time. Buyer beware!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

2009 Dodge Journey sxt - brakes and rotors - had to replace brakes at 37,000 miles and was told rotors also needed to be replaced. Should have lasted longer then they did - last week 6-11 received notice from Chrysler -Dodge that if owner had to replace prior to 36,000 miles they would replace at their expense less $100. 00 deductible. Wouldn't touch my claim since my brakes were replaced at my cost at 37,000 miles. If the rotors and brakes were not right when this vehicle was made, I feel that Chrysler-Dodge should have to pick up the cost in full or extend the milage on this problem so their customers can say they have safe vehicles. Since brakes and rotor's are a vital issue of a an automobile this should be addressed. I am still driving with bad rotors and couldn't get any help from the dealer or Chrysler-Dodge complaint department or customer service.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

Inaug 2010, I had the brake pads changed barely a year after buying the car. The next month I had to have new rotors because they warped. A month later they were warped again, couldn't get them changed until Mar 7, 2011. Exactly 30 days later they were warped again. Just had them and the brake pads replaced on may 8, 2011.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Car starts shaking at 70mph on highway, find out the brake pads are warped and need to replaced. This is second time in less than 12,000 miles. There needs to be a recall on Chrysler brakes and their parts. The cost of having to keep replacing rotors, calipers, brake pads is too much for faulty parts.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

This is the first incident 2 months after I purchased this brand new truck. The car had no power at all. It would not start. I had to have it towed from my driveway. . . About 6 months later the car would not go into gear the head or brake lights would not work. . I took it back to the dealership where I purchased it for the fourth time and it is has been in the service center about a month and they have no answers. . . I have have called Dodge numerous times and can't get any help from anyone. This vehicle is not safe I have been pulled over by police numerous times for no lights and stranded because the car would not go into gear.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The brake pads on the Dodge Journey wear out prematurely.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

My airbag light and throttle light were on as well as the engine light. I contacted service repair department, MD where I purchase the vehicle. 2009 Dodge Journey. I was advised this was due to a recall repair that needed to take place. To bring the car in (March, 2011) after the first repair - the airbag light went out - but the engine light and the throttle light stayed on. I was told the repair would be covered by warranty and possibly was connected with the recall. It has been seven (7) times going back and forth to get this repair. At the time of this writing - my Journey is back with them again. Not only have I had to take time off from work to bring the car in to them. It has been an inconvenience going back and forth. Apparently, after the 2nd time - someone doesn't know what they are doing. I am currently working with the service manager, and the original service associate and still had to take the vehcile back. There is a lack of genuine customer service and some service partners do not know how to stay calm when dealing with a situation like this. I feel I have been taken for granted and I it has been a tremendous inconvenience in adjusting our work, vacation and travel schedules. They have finally given us a rental after 7 times and told us that they purchased a brand new computer system to help fix the situation. It sounds far fetch that a brand new computer system would be purchased to fix one vehicle. We feel like we are being lied to and want the vehicle replaced. We ride our family (including grandchildren) in this vehicle from time to time and want to be safe. March to June 2011 is entirely too long for the same exact repair to be worked on.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Dodge Journey, engine complete power down/shut down; loss of all function in the car, no steering, no brakes, no lights.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I purchased a brand new 2009 Dodge Journey with 20 miles on it, within the first 25,000 miles 2 of the tires began losing air and had to be replace, kumho tires stated there was nothing they could do about this. At 45,000 miles the driver side tire actually popped, luckily at the time we were stopped in a gas station parking lot. Again, kumho said there was nothing that could be done. At 47000 miles the brakes fell completely out of the vehicle and on to the road, again luckily we were doing approx. 3 miles an hour and no one was hurt, when I called the Dodge dealer I bought the vehicle from the service tech said 'well it sounds like you need new brakes to me' so I called Dodge, again they said I was out of my 3 yr/36000 mile warranty and they were 'sorry for the inconvenience but there was nothing they could do' I took it to a local repair shop that said the right front caliper locked and didn't release causing total destruction of not only my brakes, but my rotors. Is 'sorry for the inconvenience' what they would have said had my children been killed in their sad, very unsafe vehicle?.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

1) I had the front brakes replaces after owning the care 7 days. The dealer replaced the front rodars and brake pads. Six weeks later I complained of the metal to metal sound from the rear brakes, but the dealer told me, "you can keep driving the car, it's ok for now". Now the brakes are totally gone and the front brakes are causing the car to shake when you slow down. . . Again!! 2) the car doesn't always start. You have to crank the key 4-5 times before it will start. This seems to be in intermittent problem. 3) the transmission jerks into gear. 4) the plastic in the wheel well coming off.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I bought a Dodge Journey a few weeks ago. I live in the mountains, and the first time I went to drive down the hill I had problems with the breaks. They would shake the steering wheel horribly, and I would feel a grinding on the pedal. I would have to pump the breaks just to gain control of the car. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from, they told me it is just the way the car is made. I felt that wasn't acceptable, so they replaced the break pads with a more expensive pad. The shaking is better, but I can still feel the grinding and have a feeling this won't last very long. Dodge needs to replace the entire break system, I feel like the breaks are an essential part of a car for safety and I don't feel safe driving my family in this car. It needs to be fixed before people start getting hurt.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

2009 Dodge Journey - had a complete brake replacement (rotors turned, pads replaced) at 25000 (February 2010) and now at 53000 we have been told all rotors need to be replace, the front right rotor is cracked, all break pads need to be replaced. Called Chrysler tonight 12/27/2010 at 7:05 pm and they no reports of problems with the Dodge Journeys and brake/rotor problems. They advised us to get the vehicle repaired at a Chrysler dealership and have them send it in to corporate. They may pay for the replacement - they have not paid for anyone's replacements nor have they issued a recall. This is my second lemon from Chrysler/Dodge the first was a Chrysler 300 when the front end would not stay in alignment. Please do something about this corporation. Lots of americans are being victimized by the car companies. This absolutely must be stopped.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

I own a 2009 Dodge Journey with 78,000 miles the car has been great. At 60k miles I needed to purchase new tires, the car has kuhmo 205 55 r19 tires, kuhmo is the only maker of this size tire, and the tires are on back order indefinitely!!! I was told by Dodge that they were sorry but they could give me a years worth of oil changes for free? great free oil changes for a car I cant drive?.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

The kuhmo tires on the 2009 Dodge Journey were shredding apart and showing the steel tread. Kuhmo is not currently making a tire to replace it and they are back ordered until may of 2011.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

2009 Dodge Journey. I had to replace the rear brake pads at 18201 miles. This is ridiculous since I also had to replace the front brake pads and rotors at 16301 miles. Fortunately, I just got a letter stating I will get reimbursed for the front brake job. I wish they would also send me a letter telling me they will reimburse me for the rear brake job.
