Wheel problem #1

My car is a Dodge Journey with a 4 cylinder engine, factory steel wheels and bolt-on wheel covers. The factory wheel nuts are collapsing in diameter as a result of contact with impact wrenches. Recently I had a flat tire and in efforts to remove the wheel, because the wheel nuts had collapsed in diameter, special tools were needed to remove them. Had the flat tire occurred on the highway, it would not have been possible to remove the wheel and install the spare tire, posing a severe safety problem. I have replaced the factory wheel nuts on the wheel where the flat tire occurred and expect to do so on the other wheels.

Wheel problem #2

Engine problems.

Wheel problem #3

***radio system not working properly no longer connecting properly to phone, sounds muffled to the receiver on the other end of call, audio connect is not allowing me to be heard and I got a brand new updated phone! thinking that was the issue. It wasn’t the phone, there was a precious recall regarding system updates issues, that I saw on here, but I was never notified about it!! *audio hands free won’t map my iphone, to the car bluetooth system will not connect at times, ****instrument panel lights are not showing, radio goes off while driving often, not working properly, *****back up camera not working properly: *back up camera not working properly, noticed blurry, not able to see properly at night. ****back up parking assist lines are not as bright and clear when backing up, image is no longer vivid! *difficulty seeing behind you at night when backing up, looks like snow on a tv screen ! ** road system comes on by its self and stays on at times, car is serviced regularly!.

Wheel problem #4

Rear differential.

Wheel problem #5

Rear wheel bearing is bad after only 35,000 miles causing the speed sensor to fail which causes the cruise control to fail. The wheel bearing has also caused extreme wear on the tread of my brand new tires, and the abs and stability/traction lights to come on in the dash display. I have researched this problem extensively and found that many Dodge Journey owners have experienced the same issues.

Wheel problem #6

When the car is in cruise control it will not stop when breaks are being hit it cause the car to go off the road and almost kill and the wheel knocked up ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

Wheel problem #7

Ballbaring and stiring problome. .

Wheel problem #8

Egine.

Wheel problem #9

Cruise control stopped working also tires wore bare in less than 26k miles.

Wheel problem #10

I had an accident this passed July 4, 2020 where I had no brakes. That experience will never be forgotten (pstd). I traveled that day 110 mile on the freeway and reached my destination stopped to check address, then turned slowly into a driveway. My friends pulled their car up so I can park behind. I pulled in pressed on brakes and realized there were no brakes when my foot went all the way to the floor and car started accelerating. My friends drive is on a decline. Very hilling area in harrison mi. I starting praying asking god to not hit their car, then not hit their houses and I saw bushes thinking they would stop me. But to no avail the car drove through them just missing a telephone pole. My car headed back to the street going towards the house across the street. I am still pumping the brakes. So I turned to my left and went thru a wooded fence hit a stone stump and went sailing (according to the neighbor of the house) four feet into the air and came crashing down on a tree. In my mind I was thinking this tree will stop my car praying not ending my life. The car hit the tree and landed on the ground proceeding to the street again. I am now driving down Dodge hwy with oncoming traffic on the wrong side of highway. I put the car in park but the car still did not stop. A street was coming up on the left side and I turned to get out of traffic and this street was going uphill and the car stopped. The car has been with dealership since July 6,2020 and 5 weeks later on August 17, I received a letter from fca stating "we are not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. ".

Wheel problem #11

This is the second time the rear abs wheel speed sensor failed. My vehicle has 26,651 miles on it. This caused me to have to pull over on an interstate in order to check to see what was happening. This was a safety concern for me and I asked the dealership they said it's a known issue but no recalls on it.

Wheel problem #12

I have had my speed censor and wheel bearing repaired twice very closely together and it now needs done again. My abs, traction, and awd lights are all on. When they are all on, I have no traction at all and slide all over the place. It is very unsafe and I feel like my car is a death trap. I have put over $10,000 into my car in less than 3 years for unnecessary maintenance.

Wheel problem #13

We have replaced all the tires on the vehicle and it is only three years old with 45k miles on it. And we are getting ready to replace another tire that is not even a year old yet.

Wheel problem #14

My abs / traction control light is on. And my windows refuse to roll down and my lights on the inside of my car flicker when driving.

Wheel problem #15

Rear passenger side tire's tread just peeled up and pulled off the under skirt, pulled part of back bumper loose. Pulled off the plastic up in side the wheel carriage and also busted my gas line. I was driving on a straight road and it just happened. I didn't run over or hit anything.

Wheel problem #16

Kumho tires 225/65r17 have chunks of the thread coming off, the vehicle vibrates going over 65 mph which makes me not want to put my kids in it at times.

Wheel problem #17

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact was not experiencing a failure until the dealer crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram greensboro, 3710 w wendover Ave, greensboro, nc 27407, (336) 790-9850 indicated that they made a provision of providing a manufacturer service campaign for the suspension, replaced the lower control arm however the repair failed to provide a solution. They stated that it may be the steering boot. The contact was hearing an abnormal noise concerning the front drivers side wheel as the suspension had been very unstable when turning, changing lanes as well as with the normal operation of a high or low rate of speed. The contact was uncertain if there may be the potential risk of a loss of control resulting in a catastrophic crash. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership more than 3 times and they had been unable to provide a remedy stating that this was a known issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they had a repair guideline for a dealers repair. The approximate mileage was 60,000. Dyd.

Wheel problem #18

I had a flat tire and I went to change the flat for the spare but I found out that the lug nut wrench that Dodge supplied with my Dodge Journey crossroad was the wrong size. I had to then drive the vehicle off the main road to safety causing more damage to the rim.

Wheel problem #19

I am sharing my experience regarding byers kia of lewis center and salesperson kyle cain. Friends, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 I purchased and financed a vehicle through byers kia on columbus pike in lewis center, ohio. The vehicle was a 2017 Dodge Journey gt with approximately 42,000 miles. The salesperson was kyle cain, and his manager as I understand it is bob pollock. The Saturday I took possession of the vehicle it was raining heavily so I wasn't able to inspect the entire vehicle and did not get a close look at the front tire tread. I traded in my 2016 chevy cruze lt along with bringing $4,500 to the table. The next day, Sunday I was able to inspect the vehicle more thoroughly and discovered that the front tires were both unsafe and unsatisfactory. Monday morning, April 1, 2019 I contacted kyle cain and told him.

Wheel problem #20

Tire pressure continues to deflat during weather change cold weather causes tires to loose pressure.

Wheel problem #21

takata recall every winter my Dodge Journeys service awd, abs light, and traction light will come on when the sensor gets cold and wet. It shifts out of awd completely. This has been an issue every single winter. It is recalled on 2012-2015 models but for some odd reason my 2015 model is not included in that recall. Very frustrating.

Wheel problem #22

Takata recall . I was driving my car and I noticed it smoking I look and the back window was on fire smoking and my wiring to door is fried and window switch is fried.

Wheel problem #23

When accelerating vehicle pulls more one way (right). When at steady speed vehicle holds direction but if getting on the freeway or accelerating after stopping, I have to strongly correct the vehicle's direction. Concerned there is a possibility of brakes not fully releasing after stopping and is only noticeable because of the speed (entering the freeway) or full stop was made.

Wheel problem #24

Vehicle makes a ticking noise while playing the radio and or driving on the freeway and going over 60 mph. There is also loud banging noise on the driver side passenger seat as if air or something is hitting the vehicle. Tired don't hold pressure and driving at times seems uneven or off track as well.

Wheel problem #25

Mastercraft glacier grip ii tires 4 225 65 r16 installed 10/27/2016. Less than 25,000 miles on tires and 2 tires on had tread separation. Minor crack fractures that leaked air out. I had to keep putting air in tire. Once pumped up to tire specs hold air. So dealer didn't find nothing wrong till it kept happening and I made then dismount and check inside and out and all around. Found from inside micro cracks in tire tread. Per dealer manufacture defect.

Wheel problem #26

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the all wheel drive warning indicator flashed intermittently. When the warning indicator illuminated, the vehicle went into two wheel drive and became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer to determine the cause of the failure. In addition, the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the front and rear wheels were unstable. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

Wheel problem #27

Automatic transmission has some problem too.

Wheel problem #28

After 60mph have vibration wen touch tha brake pedal.

Wheel problem #29

When you drive the car accelerate and when you break the car gos side by side and the back passenger side wheel makes a load noise like its losse this happen after the first recall.

Wheel problem #30

Tires have had separation issues on two separate occasions - steering wheel hard to handle and vehicle shaking.

Wheel problem #31

Complaints involving idler pulley and brake system. On June 4, 2017, while driving on the interstate, my steering wheel locked up. I was able to pull to the side of the road and then the car started malfunctioning. It completely died and would not start. I found out from the dealership on June 5, 2017 that the issue was related to the idler pulley crumbling which in-turn caused the serpentine belt to break. On July 9, 2017, I was at a stop light on the I-10 frontage road. When the light turned green, I could not go because the brakes locked up. I had to put the car in park, turn it off and then turn it back on in order for the brakes to loosen up. To say I'm frustrated with Dodge is an understatement. During both instances, my 8-yr old daughter was in the car with me. I've only had this car for three years, it isn't paid off and I'm having these problems that could potentially be life threatening. A recall needs to happen with this vehicle!!!.

Wheel problem #32

Purchased new in 2012. Dodge Journey sxt the tires developed cord separation at 22,000 km. Manufacturer kumho. Neither Chrysler nor kumho would offer any compensation. Even had 4 wheel alignment done that checked out ok to make sure it was not the problem. Replaced them with american made tires and so far no issues. My advise to new car purchasers is have tires if off shore replaced with domestics as part of offer to purchase. Secondly vehicle to date only has 37,000 km and brake rotors developed a warp. Pulsation is being felt upon moderate braking. I am not one to be hard on brakes and have never had to panic stop thus not having to over heat the brakes. Next issue the cruise control will not engage when the button is pushed. The clock on the radio does not keep time . This is not our daily driver and the warranty has run out time wise. To date only just over 37,000 km. I own 2 other n. A. Vehicles by gm and Ford 2001 and 1999 respectively . The 01 sunfire 455,000 km 4 sets of pads and original rotors and drums and f150 with 157,000 2nd set of pads and original rotors so you can see it is not a poor driving style. Very disappointed with Chrysler products . Have to take the Journey back to dealer for service to see what can be done and will be getting hold of Chrysler rep, this one is more in the shop than in my driveway thanks to gm and Ford for keeping me rolling. If no positive results from dealer or Chrysler I will not recommend their product to anyone from my experiences. I hope some one at Chrysler reads this comment. I would certainly like to hear their response. Having read many forums only to find out many are having the same issues with the same vehicles.

Wheel problem #33

Electric:my lights keep going out since purchase under 1yr. . ,replace fuses 4times in 6mths. . My truck locked up with ignition start key remote in car an almost locked my son 6yr. Old in car. . . Had to call aaa for lockout service safety concern and Dodge did safety check an stated no concerns. . . ,also stockton Nissan purchased all 4new tires an did brakes an drums under warranty of safety from purchase an both went bad under 5mths of work order history an they refuse to do any checks on this vehicle,. . My passenger tire split, and right now when I drive there's a loud, squeaky noise with vibration when hitting brakes while driving. . . Stockton Dodge wanted to charge me 480$ just to diagnose recommend I take back to purchase dealer(stockton Nissan) and they should send it to Dodge but lisa, and amanda mathews would not take the vehicle at Nissan. . . Stated gary bishop says do not take this vehicle for any reason. . . I don't understand why if I pay for extended warranty coverage over $3000 to stockton Nissan and they were the ones who supposedly did the work that's unsatisfactory an cause defects an safety issues an concerns. . . I also called Nissan corp/lithia and was told about lithia/Nissan&first extended warranty coverage policies in middle of a big change so it limited my vehicle being repaired over 130???miles of home range an I'm a partial paraplegic. . Also stockton sold me this vehicle an extended warranty knowing my disability an safety concerns for myself an 5young kids. . This is unacceptable an unsafe for any dealership with purchase of a vehicle and in complaint of safety concerns repeatedly an for the customer to be prolonged stating they can trade it back but wanna do it as another purchase with more $$ down ,credit check again, an same process as new purchase. . Stockton Nissan with held information viable from the extended warranty purchase contract due to changes. .

Wheel problem #34

Kept losing air pressure in the front driver side tire. Wheel sensor defective. A/c kept coming on by itself and the front bumper paint peeling off.

Wheel problem #35

Dodge Journey brake system is undersized for vehicle size and weight. Brake pads and rotors are needing full changeout after approx 25k miles. Vehicle has less than 60k miles on odometer, and brake system again must be repaired prematurely. I believe this is the reason Dodge increased the rotor size on 2011 models.

Wheel problem #36

Oem tpms sensor valve stem cracked and broke, instantly deflating tire. Material appears to be manufactured from aluminum and shows signs of corrosion approx 1/4" below top of fill head. If vehicle was in high speed motion at time of failure, then instant tire deflation would have occurred and lead to a possible loss of control and tire damage. A web search for similar issue yields a few legal sites that are investigating issue for the 2009-2010 model years as later models were installed with rubber stem.

Wheel problem #37

My airbags did not deploy in a head on collison. My vehicle was traveling at 45 with right away and his at 10. I was on straight away and he was at a stop sign turning in thr direction I was coming.

Wheel problem #38

My tires are leaking air and completely balled, my car has 27,000. I think since we've done all the proper maintenance they should have lasted a lot longer.

Wheel problem #39

My Dodge Journey will not always start it will just click then after several attempts it will start. My drivers side door the power window does not work it just stopped working. Now my gear shift does not want to shift into gear, start the car up the cas traction light is on and the gear will be stuck. So I have to turn the car off several times then I am able to move the gear shift. It is very frustrating to get in your car and you cannot either start it or it just do not move .

Wheel problem #40

The in-tire pressure monitor failed. The car was traveling at highway speed. This was a sudden loss of tire pressure. The tire went flat is less than 1 second. The tire was shredded and destroyed.

Wheel problem #41

End of valve stem shot out of stem while trying to air up tire, end corroded and broke, replaced stem and sensor unit. Seems that this is a serious problem with the metal types that are put on and installed at the factory on these models cars. Even service station (firestone) said they have collection of bad stems on these vehicles. I got lucky that I noticed air pressure indicator light was on an took it to station to air up tire when I tried to put air in tire and end shot out like a rocket and then I lost all the air in my tire. What has to be done to have this issue taken care of by the manufacturer when these are obviously defective. Does some one have to be driving down the road get in an accident because the stem blows out and they get a flat or blow a tire. My car was stationary at the tire pump at the time this happened, I called road side assistance to remove my tire but there was nothing they could do otherwise.

Wheel problem #42

While accelerating onto freeway last night, rear tire blew out. Vehicle has oem kumho solus kh16 225/65r17 tires with just under 36k miles. The side wall shows a perfect separation (see attached image). Issue appears to be same as reason for recall of another kumho solus tire model. I have included a photo of the tire that blew out. Was able to safely pull to side of entrance ramp and replace tire with compact spare. There are an alarming amount of safety complaints on NHTSA regarding this tire. . . Over 1/2 are for the Dodge Journey.

Wheel problem #43

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey se. The contact stated while driving various speeds the passenger side tires started to shake violently. No warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. Tw.

Wheel problem #44

Goodyear assurance tires, 225 70r16, set of four, approximately less than 5,000 miles. At 70 mph on expressway, entire outer sidewall blew out, leaving tread and inner sidewall intact. This is on my 87 year old mother's vehicle, but fortunately I was driving and the tire was on the rear of the car. This was on a dry highway, normal driving and conditions.

Wheel problem #45

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. A loud abnormal noise was heard from the front end of the vehicle. Autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram spring (21027 I-45, spring, TX 77388, (281) 715-6927) diagnosed that the wheel wiring needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.

Wheel problem #46

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the tpms warning light kept randomly flashing. The contact constantly had to put air in the tires and the warning light still illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure more than once and was not able to provide a permanent remedy to repair the condition. The contact was also included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control , service brakes, hydraulic) and was waiting for an extended period of time to receive the part for the recall repair. The contact was unable to confirm with the dealer, when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the recall concern. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Dyd.

Wheel problem #47

Tires wore down at an alarming rate at just under 100 miles and brake pads also. Doesn't start at some times. . Just a click. . . Turns off for no reason. . . When in park it acts like it wants to move forward . . . Cannot keep an alignment.

Wheel problem #48

My 2009 Dodge Journey has less than 18000 miles on it, I drive a total of 9-10 miles both ways to work. I've had to replace the brakes twice for rusting out. Peeved at the tech's comment "you don't drive it enough" as if I am stupid woman. In 2010 I ask for my tires to be checked cause they were constantly low, looking at my invoice from 1/18/10 I asked for them to be checked and all they did was correct pressure. Now I hear about these stems prematurely cracking and after just buying my first replacement set of tires was told, 3 of the stems are cracked and they (tire dealer, not car dealer) couldn't replace cause they have some sensor chip in them. In addition, the tires would consistently lose pressure until the stems are replaced.

Wheel problem #49

Brakes have been a major issue on this vehicle. We have had to replace brakes, rotors and calipers multiple times since the vehicle was purchased not to mention the tires also. The first time they were replaced, the car had less than 36,000 miles. Since that time they have been replaced multiple times, with the last time being in the last 30 days. It is like there is some type of design flaw in the braking system, that causes the brakes and tires to both wear out quickly. Last night the braking system caught fire on this vehicle, lucky I had just pulled in my parking spot when they started burning and didn't have my children with me. Fire department was notified and the fire was put out by them. I have noticed that I am not the only person with the Journey that has had brake and tire issues. Now I am stuck without any means of transportation thanks to the brakes catching fire (warping rims and melted tires from it). Thankfully no one was injured.

Wheel problem #50

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 doge Journey. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 70 mph. The contacted low tire sensor light indicated. The contact stated he heard an abnormal sound from the rear end passenger side. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic for diagnostic testing where it was confirmed that the valve stem needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,716.

Wheel problem #51

I have only had my car two and half years and its been none stop issues started with car only wanting to start when it felt like it and imy turn signals and head light flashing when they wanted then my intererior lights also all when car was off and locked then the doors and windows starting rolling up and down on their own and the doors unlocking and locking back on their own and now last but not least my horn wont stop honking its a physical drain it interfers with work , sleep it wakes up the neighbor hood all hour of the nite will be at work and have to excuse myself to go outside and pray I can get it to stop! causing me battery damage more then at 285 dollars a pop for battery and installation no expects when they pay over thirty thousand for a car it is gonna be possessed! because of this car it has rained and snowed in my vehicle in the middle of the night when windows wanna roll down on their own I have replaced widow switches and sensors also and still having all these issues I can not afford to may to fix these costly reaccuring issues due to the manufactor made huge mistakes while making this car obviously something needs to be done I have read complaint after complaint online like mine there definitely should be a recall before someone seriously gets hurt and they get sued . . . Thank you.

Wheel problem #52

While driving my vehicle on a long distance road trip, which I do quite often, the steering wheel began to vibrate as I was decreasing the speed from 65 miles per hour. I have since had my tires replaced and the tpms on one of my wheels became corroded. The problem still persisted. I had my back brakes replaced, the problem still persisted. I had my wheels aligned, the problem still persisted. My mechanic is currently replacing the axle along with my front brakes. Hopefully, this fixes the problem. My daughter is in college and my family and I will be making 8 hour road trips often. I am financially obligated to this vehicle and need it to service my families needs. Dodge needs to ensure that their vehicles are safe and reliable.

Wheel problem #53

Rotted valve stems, causing tire blowout while vehicle stopped.

Wheel problem #54

I went to have the tires rotated because I was having a person replace the brakes and he couldn't get the tires off. They were cemented to the wheel well. Which in itself is a safety issue. If I would have had a flat tire on the road, I would not have been able to change the tire and been stuck on the side of the road. Took the vehicle to have the tires rotated, they broke off one of the studs that hold on the lug nuts. In replacing the brakes and rotors at 28000 miles, which is totally stupid, but on the Dodge Journey, a necessity I guess, on replacing one of the wheels after new brakes and rotors were installed, another of the lug nut studs broke off. There was not excessive pressure being applied to it. I believe this is a safety issue. Who's to say you wouldn't be driving down the road and have another one break off. Of course, in my case, I guess the tire would have stayed on since it was cemented to the wheel. I believe there is an issue with the brakes and studs and tires on the aluminum wheels. Something needs to be done about this.

Wheel problem #55

I purchased the car in January of 2014 from a used car lot (which I will never do again) and it was sold with transmission leaks. I just found this out after taking the car in for a hole in one of the coolant hoses less than a month ago because it wasn't leaking on the ground. I started hearing a grinding, squeaking and ticking sound that my mechanic couldn't figure out. I just had the breaks done so they are essentially brand new. I had to have the tires replaced because they were worn to the thread. Going up a hill yesterday, I heard a loud noise and then the car wouldn't move. This left me in the middle of the road blocking traffic with 5 children in the car. Turns out there's a cracked transfer case. Sounds like there are many others like me out there having similar problems with this particular year make and model and a recall is in order. . . . Again!!!!.

Wheel problem #56

We were on our way to church and the steering wheel started shaking at about 55 mph so we slowed down and it stopped. As we continued on to church the wheel started shaking again and we drove a little faster and then slower. We made it to church and as we parked the car we noticed a burning smell. When I got out of the passenger side of the car there were metal plates popping out of the wheel. I noticed the cap on the wheel was melted. The metal plates were too hot to pick up and the wheel was extremely hot. We did some research on the internet and found complaints on lemonlaw. Com. There are also 12 reported complaints on carcomplaints. Com. If Dodge knows there is a problem like this; why isn't there a recall? I just had the oil changed at the Dodge dealership and they did an all point check up. The only thing they recommended was a tune-up. No problem was found with the brakes. The mechanic told me that the caliper got so hot it damaged the ceramic brake pads and rotor. He said the caliper could have locked up and we could have gotten in accident. We are fortunate that did not happen however it certainly could have. The repairs were over $400. I should not have this expense on this new of a vehicle. This is the first Dodge I have ever owned and loved this vehicle until now. Now I am not sure I will ever own another one. Very disappointed to say the least.

Wheel problem #57

For a while now, randomly my Journey will get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear after taking off. I will have to stop, put it in park, shut off the engine and restart it for it to reset itself. The steering wheel shakes when applying the breaks, but I've have a complete new set of brakes put on it, rotors and new calipers in the front. The brakes also make a knocking sound. I also got a complete set of tires and they seem to be wearing quicker than normal. I have had 3 different shops look at the breaks for a diagnoses and all of them say that the right parts on it and they don't see and reason for the noises.

Wheel problem #58

The ignition reads bad key and won't start. The tire stems corrode and break off. The calipers are defective which cause the breaks, tires and rotors to wear. This vehicle has too many defects and should have been recalled years ago.

Wheel problem #59

Low tire indicator as soon as I started my car. Then the change oil indicator flashed. I had just had an oil change and all tires have accurate pressure. Sometimes my car won't start when I turn the key but the lights and radio will work. The shifter panel gets hot sometimes. The wipers will move up a couple of inches when I use my unlock button on my key. My dash lights will fade and then come back to the brightness I have it set at just randomly while the vehicle is started, driving or sitting still. Sounds like an electrical issue. Lots of other complaints about the same things occurring, yet no recalls and things are not covered under warranty.

Wheel problem #60

Car started shaking violently, stopped at a tire company(bayard tire in bayard florida) and tech said left rear tire belts were broken. This is the fifth kumho tire that this has happened to. I had the front 2 replaced in April of 2012 (39000) and the rears replaced in sept. Of 2012(40000) now the left rear tire has done the same thing at 55000 miles. This could cause a major accident if it would have blown out.

Wheel problem #61

I am currently the CO-owner along with my wife of 2010 Dodge Journey awd . We live in northwestern erie county, pennsylvania. This area traditionally receives 86 plus inches of snow, and snow covered icy roads are the norm during the snow season. On 5 March 2014, my wife noticed that the low tire pressure dashboard warning light was activated. I attributed the signal to the low air temperature which was below 0 degree f. On 6 March 2014 after I drove the car in 20+ degrees f. The warning light remained activated. I took the vehicle to my local tire shop to have the tire pressure checked by the professional. The owner/technician checked the air pressure in all tires. While checking tire pressure, one retaining nut (located on the outside tire rim) which holds the tire sensor monitor (located inside the tire) split, and one half of the nut fell onto the floor. Upon further inspection the remaining retaining nuts were found to be corroded, but not cracked. The technician/owner explained to me what the problem was, and what the results could be if the sensor monitor was not immediately replace. He also gave me examples of other customers to whom the same thing had happened. The biggest danger according to him was a sudden loss of tire air pressure which could cause an accident. He stated he finds the retaining nut problem only on Chrysler/fiat vehicles. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership where at my expense the tire pressure sensor monitor was replaced. The dealership also stated that they could not under federal law replace the sensor monitor with a standard tire valve. I feel that these monitors need to be consider for a safety recall. Please advise me and other owners (especially those who reside in cold, snowy climates) of Chrysler/fiat products as to remedies to this potentially serious safety concern and financial burden.

Wheel problem #62

The first time I took for inspection at dealership, service engine light on. They said code was 6th cylinder and reset, and had to come back next day. It recenctly came on again and now have to take back to shop, because the power and engine hesitates, has issues going up hills, and scares me on long rides. It is now past the 35,000 mile and into my extra warranty I paid for. Tires all wear badly too, car needs full alignment. Hoping they will not just reset and actual fix the 6th cylinder, unfortunately the light comes and goes. Its not the tires that are a problem, it is the bad alignment causing it to wear wrong. Tires arent covered under warranty, so that is not acceptable to leave the cause of the defect unfixed so every new tire you put on gets ruined. If they fix 6th cylinder will let you know, but be careful, losing power while driving and the hesitation is terrifying with kids in car.

Wheel problem #63

While driving home from local grocery store, rear drivers side tire suddenly became flat. I was able pull over to the side of the road. When my husband arrived to help, he attempted to put in some "fix a flat" to get me to the tire store less than 2 miles away and the valve stem went completely inside and all air was released from tire. He put on the spare and we took the tire to the tire store and had to purchase a new valve stem with sensor in it. Again, Dodge is putting faulty equipment into their cars and not acknowledging obvious flaws in their vehicles. This is another example of a safety recall that Dodge should be forced to put in place.

Wheel problem #64

My wife and I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey r/t in January 2013 and at that time the used car dealer had installed a new set of kuhmo tires, 225/55x19 on the vehicle. The mileage at that time was approximately 42,500. In September 2013 while driving at approximately 60-65 mph, there was a pronounced shimmy from the front end and very visible shaking of the steering wheel. I then had the tires rebalanced and the front end checked for any possible problem. Again, after rebalancing the wheels (all 4), that did not cure the problem. It was at that time my wife and I decided to replace the kuhmo's. On November 8, 2013, they were replaced with goodyear assurance triple tred size 235/55x19. So far, there is no shimmy or shake of the steering wheel. I have kept the kuhmo's if they are needed for analysis. This same problem has been mentioned in various Dodge Journey forums and there is a TSB concerning the kuhmo's.

Wheel problem #65

While traveling 70 mph from detroit to ohio with three 13 year old boys in my car. The front passenger tire was extremely low. I was able to make it to a service station. When I attempted to put air in the tire, the valve broke, releasing all air in the tire. I contact road service through my insurance and they put the spare on. I then traveled to firestone in sandusky, OH, where I was told that the tire could not be repaired. Unfortunately, they did not have my tire in stock as it is a 19" kuhmo. They were able to find one tire 100 miles from where I was in cleveland. So off I went to cleveland, where I spent $289 to replace a tire that was barely 10 months old due to the faulty valve. Today I contacted [xxx] at suburban cjd of troy and was told that I would have to pay for the replacement of the valves. Not acceptable. I could have been killed along with the tree teenage passengers that I had in my car. Please advise as to how I should proceed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Wheel problem #66

Tire pressure sensors mounted on the valve stems on the wheels are cracking and will eventually fail causing a sudden loss of air to the tires that may lead to an accident that may cause serious injury or death.

Wheel problem #67

We purchased a new 2012 Journey in March 2012 from are local doge dealer. . . Bought a new vehicle because we did not want to be shelling out money for repairs. . . . Have been a doge customer for some 20 yrs. . . All in all. . I love my Journey. . . Can't say the same for the dealer or Chrysler. . In March of 2013 at about 12,500 my mechanic suggested I might want to get alignment checked out because the front tires were wearing abnormally. . . I tried to call the dealer about the warranty to see if this was covered. . . They never called me back. . . . On 6/15/13 at about 13,000. . . I went back to my guy. . . He informed me that the front tires were indeed bald already, and suggested I go to the dealer to see what they could do. . . . I was greeting by a very smug, cocky and rude service manager named john. . . . . He told me Chrysler does not stand behind the tires or the alignment. . . . . Really john???? even at 13000 you don't see a possible problem ?? what did I pay 26,000 $ for ?? at this point john and I exchanged some words and he said you too. . . . . Ended up having my guy take care of this. . . 600 $ later, and feeling much safer, I now have two new tires on the front, fixed the alignment and also put in two front camberts. Which he thought were defective from the factory knowing the car has not been hit. . Also have noticed the when driving at lower speeds (10-30) that it seems like the acceleration seems to struggle or wants to skip at times. . . . I have seen this issue mentioned before. While my issues do not not compare to some of these others on here. . . . An issue still the same that cost me 600 $ and an issue that will lead me to another dealer when the time comes !!!!!!.

Wheel problem #68

While driving at about 25 mph the tire went flat. Mechanic said that the valve stem\tire pressure sensor had corroded and come loose causing the tire to deflate.

Wheel problem #69

Have had my Dodge purchased new for a little less than one year. At around 20,000 miles I noticed the tires seemed to be wearing excessively which I thought was strange with new tires. I requested at my next oil change to have them rotated to see if that would help. Never paid it much more attention until my traction light kept coming on when driving in regular weather conditions in addition to wet conditions. I contacted the dealer had my car inspected. The suspension and alignment seemed to be fine there was no explanation why my tires at that point 28,000 were balled and down to the tread indicators on all four tires. The dealership contacted kumho who advised I did not have a warranty for regular tread wear and Dodge states they have nothing to do with the tires the warranty is through kumho. Well would you expect to have an unsafe vehicle to drive because of no tread being left at 28,000 miles? I would not until I contacted kumho to discuss myself and were advised that the tires are made out of a compound that is not meant to last that long and are not of the same material as you would buy a new set of tires of the same brand and size from a tire dealership directly. They make the tires to the manufacturer specifications and they are not meant to last so balled tires at 20,000 miles is acceptable and safe for new Dodge Journey owners! when I am in an accident with my family because of these tires being made out of a compound that is only meant to last a few miles then someone will here me then I am sure! bad business move to make inferior tires to put on new vehicles and then point the fingers at eachother and no one is responsible! sad!.

Wheel problem #70

Low air came on then found out the tire pressure monitoring system sensor nut was cracked on right rear wheel and the valve stem cracked on left rear wheel. Called two Dodge dealers and I was told I would have replace the entire sensor at a cost of $130 each, and they are replacing them with a new sensor with a rubber valve for the same reason I'm having. They told me the aluminum parts(stem and nut) are corroding fast causing breakage or cracks. My vehicle is out of warranty with just over 33k miles but more than 36 months. The car was driven at a low speed when the light came on and I think it would be very dangerous to drive the car, especially if at highway speed, and those parts fail which would cause the sensor to possibly come off and then cause a blow out to the point the car may loose control. This is a family car and it is risky to have this problem. This problem should be a recall. Schrader, the sensor manufacturer, does have replacement sensors with rubber valves at less than $50 retail.

Wheel problem #71

The valve stems on my 2009 Dodge Journey cracked causing the stem to fly out of the tire. This causes the tire to instantly go flat, which in turn makes the vehicle difficult to control. This has happened to me twice. Both times I was on the highway. Luckily I was able to control the car and get to the side of the road. If I had been in any other lane I most likely would have veered into another lane or in front of another car. I had to fix the other two tires as well as they were also cracked. This is apparently a problem that dealers/mechanics are aware of. Dodge is also aware. They have since changed the way the valves were made. They are now some type of plastic. The consumer however is not aware until something goes wrong. In both cases an accident could have easily happened. Again, I was lucky. By doing research on the internet I have found it happens to 2009 and 2010 vehicles. I have contacted Dodge and all I got we're apologies. If I lost my life or my children an apology wouldn't bring anyone back. The public needs to be aware of this issue before something terrible happens. When the stem blows out of the tire the air loss is instantaneous. There is no warning just loss of control over the vehicle. I truly hope that someone can help make others aware that this a problem.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that he touched the valve and the tire deflated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the valve corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 55,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Wheel problem #73

Traveling at 60mph on west bound m-59 highway, in michigan, when all air pressure lost out of rt. Rear tire. Managed to get car stopped in front of a belle tire store. Had them take car in for repairs and they told me that it was just one more failure, due to road salt, of the aluminum valve stem on a Chrysler tpms air pressure sending unit. They advised me to replace unit on all four wheels because they would soon be failing. I replaced two of them at a cost of $65 each because that was all that I could afford. They said that it was a common problem and showed me a bushel of defective Chrysler (siemens) units. Since only the valve stems are bad, and easy to replace, I looked for replacements on the internet but found none. Too bad that they make you buy a $65 part over the failure of a $1 part. By-the way, there are units offered with rubber valve stems that hold up just like the old ones. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Wheel problem #74

The problem I encountered was that the steering wheel shakes violently if brakes are pressed at 60 mph. The mechanics at carmax, machined the rotors and replaced the brake pads which seemed to fix the problem. Roughly 3. 5 to 4 months later, I had the same problem. This time, the mechanics at carmax replaced the rotors and the front brakes. The vehicle was once again placed into service last Wednesday on December 18, 2013. Once again, the rotors were machined and the brakes replaced. I purchased the vehicle o January 17, 2013 with the starting mileage of 34,904. I have put roughly 10,000 miles on the vehicle. When I took the vehicle in for the third time, I decided to look on the internet hoping that might help. However, I found hundreds of people with the same vehicle that were having the same problem as I was. I contacted Dodge but they say that this is a maintenance issue. I believe that this is a safety issue. I have 4 children and god forbid that the brake system suddenly decided that it doesn't want to work! apparently, there is a flaw in either parts or design that needs to be acknowledged and corrected by Dodge.

Wheel problem #75

We bought the Dodge Journey in Dec 2012 3 weeks or so later I returned to dealership with a clicking sound when I moved the steering wheel that the front end was shaking and that there was a load roar long story short every 6 months rotors brakes tires are having to be replaced and I guess what really set things more in motion was Jan 21 2014 while traveling down the interstate to take a sick child to the dr the left front tire valve steam blew out my husband got the car off the road only to jack it up to change tire when the weight of the vehicle bent the jack causing it to fall almost on my husbands foot, we bought this car because it was a v6 and had the room we need to travel to dr appts with our special needs child because we have to travel so far I have had nothing but trouble the dealership after a fight agreed to put new brakes the machined the rotors and said the steering was a Dodge thing nothing to worry about only the load clicking when pulling in or out of a parking space and the roar in the front they claim is the raos and they also at this time put 4 new tires on the car now mind you this was all done 7/6/13 and they done all of this when they purchased the car in 11/20/12 and when I go back in to the car fax every 6 months the breaks rotors and tires have to be replaced. Now here it is 6 months later for us and blow out also we just changes the rotors and brakes on the 11 of this month so see the 6 month deal with this car and when searching other complaints I am finding the same problem I have contacted Chrysler and they say call my dealership I informed [xxx] at Chrysler it was not the dealerships problem they didn't make the car. It is a death trap there are so many more issues with this car but the deadly ones are the tires blowing out the brakes crumbling and the rotors wearing out with in 6 months thank u and I so hope that someone can help us. Wheel problem #76

During regular oil change the service manager notified me that my tire pressure valve stems on three wheels had corroded to the point of breaking off. One tire lost pressure completely, requiring me to have it replaced immediately. If this had occurred on the road it could have been disastrous.

Wheel problem #77

Wheels, brakes, and rotors deteriorate prematurely and/or shortly after the warranty expires resulting in an excessive cost to the consumer and the potential for a complete brake and tire failure.

Wheel problem #78

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, he heard a loud noise which sounded as though the tire rim scraping onto the ground. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. He noticed the rear passenger's side tire completely deflated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated the tire pressure sensor in combination with the valve stem were defective. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

Wheel problem #79

Have factory aluminum wheels. The mandated "safety" tire pressure sensors factory installed have a steel shaft through the rims. Road salt reacts with the metal properties cause rotting. In my case it broke off when the mechanic tried to top off air. Just as easy would be a bump causing one or more to break on the road. I complained directly to Dodge, after thinking it over for three weeks, they called and reported they have no intention of repairing their faulty material problem. This attitude towards a potentially accident causing problem is not an acceptable response.

Wheel problem #80

I purchased the vehicle on June 15,2012. Unexpectedly, on September 22, 2012 my vehicle lost control at the location I 287nb exit 41a parsippany ramp onto 80 e traffic then my vehicle lost control and slammed onto the guard rail repeatedly. I immediately notified john johnson of the incident and I pleaded for them to send me a tow truck because of my 100,000 mi warranty. Further, I contacted the manufacturers Chrysler group and explained the situation. Eventually, because of the accident cause and effect they took the vehicle and send for a contractor inspector from pennsylvania to inspect the car. After the inspection, the contractor contacted me and told me he is sending in the report to Chrysler and wait a week before contacting them for a copy of the report. Moreover, I followed up, and Chrysler could not tell me who was handling my case. Finally, after pursuing my case someone told me that my vehicle case file was closed and sent to the legal department because it was determined that my vehicle steering wheel went out. Further, I was told that someone would be in contact with me shortly. No one contacted me and several weeks passed and I still didn't hear anything from the Chrysler group. I tried again until I got an answer and I was told to expect a letter and no further information was provided. Eventually, after a long wait, I received a letter that stated that my claim is denied and that the inspector did not find any manufacturing defect that caused the accident. I asked for a copy of the report and Chrysler refuse to provide me with the inspection report that gathered information from the vehicle imaging onboard computer systems. Additionally, I am still without my car or a car. My family and I have had pain and suffering and hardship over this ordeal. And I am still making monthly payments for a car I don't have or drive. Can you please help me?.

Wheel problem #81

Owner of a 2009 Dodge Journey sxt awd with kumho solus kh16 tire 225/55r19 size stock tires. After experiencing complete right front tire failure while traveling approximately 45 mph on a paved two-lane highway, owner installed the temporary spare tire. The vehicle's awd light immediately illuminated. Owner ceased operating the vehicle and obtained the services of a tow company. Apparently, this vehicle cannot be driven with the spare tire supplied by the manufacturer as the awd! light illuminated. The owner's manual states the vehicle should be serviced right away when the awd! light illuminates. There is no caveat statement regarding driving to a close location for limited mileage. Moreover, the manual states the pto unit (aka awd! unit) will be damaged if the car is driven with the awd! light illuminated. Driving with the supplied temporary spare caused the awd! light to illuminate. Additionally, if the car is driven with the temporary spare installed and the awd! light illuminated and damage to the pto occurs, is this damage covered under warranty? if the spare is too small, as is the case via visual inspection, why is that spare tire supplied with the vehicle? shouldn't an acceptable spare be made available, or a caveat statement regarding driving on the temporary spare for limited mileage be supplied, so the driver/owner is not stranded? additionally, culpability for damage and the incurred expenses should be born by the manufacturer in this case, and a statement regarding such should be evident and clear in the owner's manual.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that after having the tires rotated, the front passenger side tire pressure monitoring system failed. The contact stated hat the stem fractured during rotation. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was told that the stems would often brake due to corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 47,000.

Wheel problem #83

I was driving and my tire blew out, I was told that it was because the tire pressure monitoring system was corroded, cracked and split in half. Upon checking of all my tires, all of them are cracked and corroded. On the tire that blew the stem was totally split in half. This is a huge safety issue, they changed to plastic in the 2011 Journey's. We bought the car 1 1/2 months ago as a certified used car.

Wheel problem #84

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 65 mph, the front passenger side tire began to lose air rapidly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics. The mechanic stated that the tire pressure sensor valve was fractured. The mechanic placed a temporary rubber valve stem to the tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated they would not assist with the replacement of the valve stem. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

I am a licensed commonwealth of pennsylvania certified state inspection mechanic. I just encountered a very dangerous situation with a customers 2009 Dodge Journey awd vehicle today, July 14, 2012. I wanted to bring this to the attention of the proper authority, with the hope that this could be investigated in detail to prevent a potential fatality or a number of them. Today a regular customer of mine, arrived at my facility with a flat tire, after further inspection; I noticed the valve stem was missing ( on the 2009 Journey and many new vehicles this is a " tpms" - tire pressure monitor sensor) the customer was driving at approx. 30 mph and noticed the light come up on the dash and within seconds her tire was flat, nothing was hit, no jolt, no warning, just poof, the tire went flat. Luckily she was driving at a low rate of speed on a rural roadway and was able to stop the vehicle and exit to safety with her children. Once I dismounted the tire, I found the tpms on the inside of the tire leaving just a hole in the rim, hence the loss of air pressure. The threads on the tpms were covered with oxidation and no retaining nut was found, the stem was not broken, altered or vandalized, it just came unattached. The threads were oxidized so badly that another retainer could not be threaded on, so I replaced the tpms with a new one. After installing that tire, I went to test the air pressure in the other front tire, as I gently placed the pressure gauge on the tpms valve stem to check the pressure, poof that tpms went right thru the rim; the retaining nut shattered and broke into pieces, quickly causing a massive and rapid loss of pressure. It is my opinion that, had the vehicle been traveling faster, a vehicle owner would be left in a very bad situation, perhaps causing a loss of control and a potential fatality. Tpms sensors need to be inspected or recalled to prevent death.

Wheel problem #86

I was driving and the low tire pressure indicator came on. I pulled over to a parking lot and proceeded to add air to the tire using an air pump. After filling the tire with air and attempting to dislodge the air pump hose. The end of the tire stem broke off inside of the tire pressure gauge causing the tire to deflate completely. I noticed that the tire stem looked corroded, and I immediately googled the problem with this tire stem and learned that there are numerous complaints where the tire stems on the vehicle corrode (which mine did exactly) and then break off while most are driving. In addition to this problem the vehicle antifreeze reservoir's crack causing the antifreeze to leak out on a constant basis. This too is a item which should have been recalled long ago. Thank you so much for your time and consideration into these reported by un-noted defects in this vehicle.

Wheel problem #87

Issue with 2012 Dodge Journey crew: Dodge only offered 19" wheel but put an undersized 16" spare tire in car. The dimension of wheel Dodge used takes a tire that is not readily available and only manufactured by a small number of tire producers. This situation puts an owner in a prediciment when a tire fails. Possibly be stuck some where it is virtually impossible to obtain a tire or weeks to get or have to drive long distances on a wheel that is significantly different in diameter than the other wheels. This is not a safe situation. My personal information is not needed by you or any one else. The above statements are facts which speak for themself. I know from personal experience that the auto manufacturers do not care the slightest bit about a customers concerns. They lie are arrogant and rude and vindictive. The above issue applies to all 2012 Dodge Journey crew vehicles made at that time.

Wheel problem #88

On the first incident, the right driver side tire suddenly went flat. Valve rotted, that tire was fixable. We questioned the cold weather. We figured it was a fluke. On July 15, 2012 rear driver side tire suddenly went flat while driving 55 mph - warm weather - brought it to a tire company and they stated the valve rotted on this tire as well and that the tire was unrepairable. Both times our 3 and 6 year old children were in the car with us- this is a huge safety issue. I know another person that recently owned a Dodge Journey and had a blow out - they ended up across the road and down the bank. Luckily no injuries. I don't think this is a coincidence. This could result in bodily injury. The valves on these cars need to be addressed immediately. Today I am spending $1325 to replace all 4 tires and rims so that myself and my children do not end up in a fatality.

Wheel problem #89

Tire valve stems - tire pressure light was on as weather got colder, when I tried to remove the valve caps the stems broke off and the tires deflated. The stem was corroded into the plastic cap and when twisted, stem broke off. Thank god that they didn't break off while the car was running down the highway as would of caused an accident. This condition has happened over and over on this vehicle and there needs to be a recall before someone get killed.

Wheel problem #90

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey (VIN: [xxx]) on September 19, 2011 from the stetler Dodge car dealership in york, PA. It was a certified pre-owned car. Since that day I bought the car I have been back there over 4 times for various problems. The first time was about 2 weeks after I purchased the car (10/3/11), but this last time was it for me. The car makes a hissing noise when I press the brakes, not all of the times but a lot. During the winter months, I hadn't noticed anything else occurring along with the noise, but I had still taken it back to the dealership not long after I bought the car. I was told that it was nothing because they couldn't hear the sound. So, when it got very hot, I turned the air conditioner on in the car. I noticed that if I take a long trip, about an hour or so drive on the highway, a fume/gas smell is released into the car when the air it on. I took it to the dealership on 7/10/12 for this issue. They couldn't get the smell to occur, but I told them that it happened after I took long trips. There is also a grinding/humming noise that occurs sometimes while driving and it happened twice when they were driving it with me in the car, but they don't know what the problem is they say. I was told to bring it back if the problem got worse, even though I had already told them it was already getting worse, that's why I took it in. The steering wheel shakes when I press the brakes. The brakes and rotors are not good. The gear shift moves easily without the brake being pressed so it will go into park while driving. The car finally stalled while driving on July 25, 2012. It's in the shop again. They say a box or case is leaking badly and needs to be replaced. Countless other problems but not enough character space allotted to tell. I have 3 pages of problems. Scared to drive this car. Want my money back now. Help! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the rear driver side valve stem fractured due to corrosion. The dealer repaired the vehicle by replacing all four valve stems. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied any assistance with repairs. The failure mileage was 50,600 and the current mileage was 50,650.

Wheel problem #92

I purchased at new 2011 Dodge Journey crew in February 2011, with 5 miles. During the course of a few months, I noticed that the drive was a little bumpy. I assumed that the uneven ride was due to low pressure in the tires or balancing issues. I reported this issue to the dealer in July 2011. The vehicle was evaluated with the following outcome: rotors and brake pads needed to replaced, balance tires and re-aligned tire pressure. The dealer ordered new rotors/pads and I returned 2 weeks later for installation. A few months later, I started experiencing the same uneven ride and complained to the dealer. This complaint resulted in my tires being replaced (mechanic stated I had 2 bad tires). The mechanic also stated that the old tires had some wearing on them (most likely due to unbalance tires). My complaints to the dealership started to increase and resulted in a visit every other month to have my tires balanced. Needless to say, my rotors and pads had to be replaced a second time in March 2012 (24k miles). I worked through Chrysler case management on this replacement and I had to pay a $100 deductible for the repair (not sure why, but needed my car to make a living). My vehicle was back in the shop in April 2012 for balancing issues. The dealer forced balanced my vehicle (this was the second forced balancing on my vehicle). On April 20, 2012, I had another visit to the dealer just to be told that they replaced my front left and right axles, in an effort to fix my balancing issues. Needless to say, this has not resolved my uneven driving issues and I am back at the case management stage. Throughout my entire year and a half with this vehicle, several dealerships have told me the Dodge Journey has been known to have this type of issues.

Wheel problem #93

Braking system of 2009 Dodge Journey is defective, replaced once and replacing again as rotors are warping due to thin material. If I do not pay to replace the rotors, I will certainly lose control of the vehicle if I need to make immediate stop because the vehicle shakes violently when braking. Dodge is making no effort to recall or repair the faulty rotors and there is no other manufacturer that makes rotors for this vehicle.

Wheel problem #94

My vehicle has less than 90000 miles and I've put 4 sets of brakes and rotors on it. I've also had numerous problems with it not wanting to start while the battery test out perfect. I have put 3 sets of tires on it, and the transmission is shifting hard a lot of the time also. It's a shame people have to die before y'all recall vehicles.

Wheel problem #95

I do not for the life of me understand why there has not been a recall issued for the 2010 Dodge Journey for the brake, tire, and rotor issue! I have had to replace the tires which were an arm and a leg because they are not a common tire/size , they wanted me to switch to a different tire size which then would affect the speedometer. . No way. . I have had to put 3 sets of rotors on the car and 2 sets of brakes, and going on 2nd set of tires. . You can't tell me there isn't an issue. . If I could get rid of the lemon I would but financially I am not in a position to. I have a friend with an identical car/color and we have the same story. . Ridiculous! please help the owners of this lemon!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving at approximately 40 mph the contact could hear a wobbling sound coming from the rear driver and passenger side wheels. The tire pressure light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. Ds.

Wheel problem #97

The tires on the vehicle go completely flat in a matter of seconds because the valve stem on the tire pressure monitoring system "corrodes" and snaps off. This has happen 4 times in less than a year. The first time it happened, my wife was going to put air in the tire and when she touched the cover of the valve stem, it blew off the tire and almost hit her in the eye. The last time it happened (01/28/12) I was driving down the highway with my wife and two children, when the light for the tire pressure monitoring system came on to tell me that my tire was low. Just a few seconds later, the tire was completely flat as we were driving down the highway.

Wheel problem #98

While washing the tires and rims on my Dodge Journey I hit a valve stem breaking it off. I have washed many wheels in the past and never had this happen before. I was very lucky that it didn't hit me or my hand. I think I will take it to the car wash the next time.

Wheel problem #99

Does not start all the time they replaced starter shows low tires , on ice . Tailgate open door open 3 sets of tires and brakes under 100,00 miles they can never find anything wrong they parts at it I'm paying the $100. Every time . Dodge keeps saying they will help , talk is cheap !! you think they would try to find out whats wrong instead of throwing parts at it !have the Journey at lease 50 times it never has been fixed . I have the lemon of lemons , at the point never to buy a Dodge , Jeep or chysler ever again !!!!.

Wheel problem #100

Purchased new Dodge Journey 2010 in April 2011. Basic type tires needed to be replaced by September 2011 due to wear. Attempted to replace with snow tires, needed for safe winter driving in rural area with heavy snowfall. Only tires that fit wheels were on national back order. Used size/brand recommended by dealership that almost fit in October 2011. Since then, I have had to have all four brake rotors machined, front brake pads replaced for third time now, not covered by warranty. Car pulsates/steering wheel vibrates violently when braking starting at about 40 mph. Pulsation/vibration does not completely go away even immediately after brakes worked on/pads replaced. I have the tires rotated every 6 months, this does not help decrease pulsation. As of July 2013, no winter tires can be found that fit the car exactly per the dealership. Car slows down too much when coasting. Gas mileage averages 17 mpg, current mileage is approx 43000. I have frequent problems with the locks and alarm when temperatures drop below 40 f, which is from October to may. Car does not always lock or unlock using either key fob or by pressing button in car, must press it multiple times. Car alarm does not work consistently. If car is locked with the fob, the car does not always lock but is sometimes "armed" and the alarm frequently goes off when the door is opened. Must place key fob in ignition and turn car on to stop alarm. Driver side door frequently would not unlock during winter, lock mechanism could be heard attempting to turn, lock next to window appeared to be jumping slightly. Door had to be unlocked from inside after entering car through other doors. Dealership stated they could not get problems to replicate (with locks, alarm).

Wheel problem #101

Brakes continue to go bad. Vehicle calls for numerous brake changes including the rotors as well. Dodge notified and nothing has been resolved. Also their valve stems are breaking in half in cold weather. Causing tires air to deplete within 8 seconds. I have the valve stem from my car that broke and the other was replaced earlier under warranty. If this valve stem was to break in half while at high speeds on the highway, someone could be killed.

Wheel problem #102

Approximately every 15-20k miles, the brake system and tires wear completely, requiring full replacement. Chrysler/Dodge is aware, but chooses to offer only minor assistance, and pithy excuses, even going so far as to blame it on "women drivers".

Wheel problem #103

On April 28, 2009 I have a tire failure while driving an a well maintained paved highway. Specifically, I had a sidewall failure on my right rear tire. Upon examination of the tire I found a "v" shaped failure in the sidewall of about one half inch. Closer examination revealed that the chords in the tire were frayed as opposed to being cut cleanly. During the first week of April 2011, I experienced another sidewall failure with the same "v" shaped break while traveling on a well maintained paved highway. I decided at that time to replace all four tires with ome tires and I kept the remaining three good tires. In February, 2012, I experienced a third sidewall failure with the same "v" shaped rupture in the sidewall of the left front tire. My mileage at this time was approximately 40500. The replacement tire that was installed was from the original ome tires that I had kept when I replaced after the second failure. Approximately 3 months later that replacement tire developed a bulge on the outside tread area of approximately 12" long by 2" wide. I then replaced all fours again with another brand. The ome tires originally on my vehicle and the first set of replacement tires were: kumho 225/55r bw kh16 99t.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving various speeds in inclement weather, the vehicle shimmies abnormally due to snow accumulation on the front wheels. The contact called the dealer and was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer advised her to refrain from driving in inclement weather. The failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 15,000. Updated 5/26/09 the consumer stated the steering wheel would jump 45 degress unless she slowed down to less than 25 mph, but the vehicle would still shake. Updated 05/28/09.
