The airbag and seatbelt restraint systems are non-functional. The airbag warning light and seatbelt warning light are illuminated. The vehicle was sold to me by a licensed dealership, and after purchase I discovered evidence of prior crash damage that was not disclosed. Due to the disabled airbag and seatbelt systems, occupants would not be properly restrained or protected in the event of a collision, creating a serious risk of injury or death. The vehicle was purchased used, and I was not involved in the prior crash nor told about it. The exact details of the prior crash are unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? answer: the middle seat belt in the 2nd row back seat does not lock. (it buckles into the buckle fine) 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? answer: I cannot have my children or anyone else ride in the back middle seat due to it not locking. If we were in a wreck, the seat belt would not lock. I also cannot put a car seat in the middle. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? answer: I can go get it checked out by a Dodge dealer. However, I have read that other people have the same issue. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? answer: the vehicle was repaired after I was hit back in June 2024. I do not believe the seat belt itself was inspected. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: no, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms. I noticed it when I was switching my carseat around. I feel this is a major safety issue and it needs to be reported and resolved.

The cover for the seat belt and airbag on the front passenger seat have become disconnected without any incident causing such. Possibly not allowing the seat belt or airbag to function properly. Also the airbag sensor & seatbelt sensor for this seat stopped working at the same time the cover became un attached to the frame. It makes the seatbelt very hard to use and not sure it would function properly in a wreck not so I think the airbag would be able to deploy properly as the sensor is also not working. I was told this was not covered under my warranty.

The middle row bench seat, middle seat seatbelt doesn’t function the way it should. It doesn’t lock when you fully extend it or be able to hold a person during an accident. This seat has hooks for a child restraint but can’t see how it will hold a child seat if the seat belt won’t lock in place during an accident. Took my vehicle to a Dodge dealer in michigan city, in who informed me this is not a defect, it’s the way the vehicle was designed. I have serious concerns about this because that is the seat someone can go through the windshield.
A few years ago the passenger seatbelt beeper stopped working. Unsure if air bags will deploy in a crash or not since the seat isn't detecting a person. Mentioned to dealership and told it would be a costly repair to check all the wiring.
Drivers side seatbelt unbuckles while driving without being touched, I’ve had my car for 5 years, and have been having this issue for a year now.
Front passenger side seat belt won’t stay fastened. Seat belts continues to pop loose or won’t latch at all.

The drivers side seatbelt is coming unlatched while operating the vehicle. This happens sometimes with very little tension and almost always when a more sudden stop is needed. I have researched online and this appears to be a recurring problem with this vehicle specifically. I attempted to have it repaired but the cost was over $700 which I am completely unable to afford. In my opinion, an item as essential as this should not so easily malfunction and should be required to be repaired by the manufacturer immediately since it is clearly a problem had by many others.

I was traveling on a very busy highway going 50 miles an hour. I noticed a lot of congestion ahead so I had to lean over because the car has bad blind sites due to headrests on all seats. When I turned back there were many cars stopped dead in front of me. I slammed on the brakes but didn't even slow down. I rear ended the car in front of me. My air bag did not deploy nor did my seat belt even tighten. My entire body especially on the right side slammed the steering wheel. My knee slammed the column or something underneath the steering column. I have a permanent mark. I had a small punctured lung on the right side and my right shoulder and arm were injured which has now turned into rsd. Extremely painful . I had Chrysler test it but will only send me an email saying no problems. No report. Just an email saying exactly that.
Passenger seat belt won't remain connected. Easilh disconnected with a slight pull.

When to use second row center seatbelt for child restraint on car seat. Noticed the mechanical lock from extension of the belt did not lock and if were to get in wreck would not function as the safety device should. Did a questioning of other similar vehicle owners and all have the same issue. This is when the vehicle is sitting still. Second problem is motor mounts when vehicle is parked on any incline surface even slight incline of jerking violently from park to any gear and back to park. Many other individuals also questioned have had similar issues and negative fixes or resolutions from dealerships repair personnel. This is from park to motion and vice versa.

The passenger side seat belt want lock, one week after we bought it the driver side. Back door will come open goin down the road . The dash started cracking 1 week after we bought it 9 days after we bought windsheild started cracking on driver side.
We bought a brand new 2016 Journey. After two years of owning (with no accidents or issues) we had a situation where we had to slam on the brakes due to the car in front of us randomly slamming on their brakes. My child was in the back seat in a seat belt and the seat belt came unlatched, he ended up hitting his head on the back of the front seat. Although there was no accident, it could have been much worse. This is the second seat belt we have had issues with in this car. We can continue to get them fixed but what if something worse happens and another belt goes bad? this is our families safety and the belts continue to prove to be faulty on a car we brought brand new.
The vehicle was in a car accident. My daughter was sitting behind me. Which I was the driver and she was behind me on the left rear. My daughter had the seat belt on and so did I. My concern is why did my daughter ended up going all the way forward hitting me from behind with her knees that the next day my behind was hurting g. Will my daughter on the mean time during the accident her head hurtled, nose, and upper and lower back. It seems the seat belt did not lock as soon as the impact because if it had. My daughter would not had gotten a bump on her nose that hurtled which it means she ended hitting my seat where you rest your head. Two her knees hurted when she went forward to my seat and hit me. Three, it made her head too much forward and backward that she got a huge bump on the head and the entire back hurted. For me my head hurted, shoulders and but. But for me the seat belt I felt it lock instantly. This impact was from behind while I was waiting for the light to turn green. The accident was hurtful but not to server of a total lost on my end. My daughter did go to the hospital. This is why it concerns me.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 20 mph over a bump in the road, the front passenger side seat belt pretensioner fractured and detached from the base of the seat. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing; however, the contact scheduled an appointment with napletons river oaks Chrysler/Dodge (17225 torrence avenue, lansing, IL 60438). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
When I'm trying to put my seatbelt in, it doesn't always catch. It will slide back out. This first started in the first year of us buying. It had 17 miles on it when I bought it. It came out while driving one time.
It has happened to me twice since I got the car that I was unable to buckle up. The seat belt was locked and I could not pull it so that I could buckle myself . . . Kind of scary when your driving without a seat belt. I tried opening the door closing it turning on and off the car putting it in park etc in different patterns nothing worked . . . I had no choice I had to drive to pick up my kids after leaving work.
1st for no reason the horn goes off, I had to pull the fusees so I can keep my neighbors I'm driving around with no horn at this time. 2nd heater core was only heating one side of the car, 3rd passenger seat belt locks up the moment car starts.
The car was stationary when I had mt 8 year old step daughter to seat on the 3rd row of the car and she was putting the seat belt on the left sideof the car and she was not able to since the buckle came off. I told her to move to the other side and same thing happen. The buckle part on both sides came off. This is a big safety issue for me since I olways use the 3rd row in my car and now I can't since we can't use the seat bellts.
The drivers seatbelt does not latch properly and will come undone while driving. Since noticing the issue I will test the latch each time I put on the seatbelt and I have to re-buckle the latch 3-5 times sometimes to get it to latch properly.
