There are multiple complaint's online about the shifter problem associated with this vehicle. 2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

After filling up the car with gas it stalls and you lose steering and brake control, very dangerous and my wife is now scared to drive the car. Stalling went away after an hour trying to get home. Next morning seemed to run fine. Next fill up did the same thing. This problem is going to cause deaths for sure if it has not already. Contacting the dealer ASAP to see if they have others with same issue.

3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

I had a starter failure on my car, and was replacing starter myself, since I do most of my repairs, & to remove starter, the steering shaft has to removed for clearance. After taking the steering shaft from the steering box and examining it, I found rusted out section on the collapsing joint of the shaaft. It is completely rusted out half the diameter of the shaft. I went auto salvage yard & put another shaft on car. I live in PA, padot uses liquid deicing spray on highways & it has penetrated this part. If it had gone much longer, it would have broken completely off, with loss of steering and possibly crash. This only has 60,000+ miles. I didn't go to dealer for replacemet, but saved the defective part. I think there should be recall to check other vehicles for this before someone get in trouble.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

After filling up at a gas station, I drove the car approximately 1/2 mile and the car stopped at a traffic light. This has happened to me probably a dozen times since March of this year. It does not happen after every fill up, probably every 4 times it happens.

Every time you fill car with gas it stalls you have to burn off gas before you can drive.

8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2006

Crowhopping is the term used by most websites google crowhopping Magnum rt awd tells it all on multiple websites with multiple customers. . Dodge has seem to term a blind ear to this year model that seems to have the same as another year with the issue. Contacted dealer main office. . . And they said they never heard of this no surprise.

9 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2006

The front tires have worn out on the outside edges, car pulls to the right, growling noise at low speeds now beginning to show up at higher speeds. Have complained about the problem since 6000 miles on the car, now has 19500, dealer says the alignment has no problems, blames the tires, the tire people (continental) blame the car. The car is now undriveable without replacing the tires, they are so out of balance and cupped vibration is severe. I was last told by the dealer it is my problem.

10 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2006

My Magnum would pull to the right. I took the car into the dealer since I bought new tires and rims at the time the pulling to the right became worse. The dealer replaced the front steering box and rack with a non-dealer one. Problem gone. The only reason the dealer replaced with a non Chrysler item part was that they did not have any in stock.

11 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2005

No failure, waiting for the event. Vehicle pulls to the right and continues to do so after repeated front end alignments per Chrysler specifications. This vehicle has a serious potential problem that should be investigated proactively rather than after incident occurs. I would recommend searching the internet for hundreds of similar complaints. I've used may 2005 as the incident date when I bought the vehicle. What lead me to this site - frustration!.

12 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2005

2005 Dodge Magnum rt bought new has always pulled to the right. Dealer has done 3 front end alignments, tires / wheels replaced, steering box replaced, continues to pull right. You cannot take you had off the wheel without car immediately veering right. Dealer tired to claim it as safety item but this is a lie, since no other new car has done this. A recall is due before lives are lost. Premature tire wear is occuring due to this problem.

13 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2005

I purchased my new 2005 Dodge Magnum r/t on 12/20/04. Manufacturer date 9/04. Vehicle continues to pull right. Has pulled to the right from the beginning. Must keep constant pressure to the left on the steering wheel. If I let up, vehicle travels right. Lane does not make difference. Without constant pressure to left, vehicle will travel across 3 lanes to right and keep going right. First complaint at 4400 miles 5/05. Dealer realigned. Second complaint 7900 miles. Dealer realigned. Third complaint 15900 miles. Both front tires showing extreme wear on outside. Tread in that area on driver front almost gone. Requested tire replacement. Dealer told me they contacted daimler Chrysler about my complaint. Two new tires were mounted, at no charge to me, on rear of vehicle. Older rear tires moved to front. Rear tires did not show any abnormal wear. Vehicle came with continental tires. Replacement tires also continentals. Vehicle aligned again. On drive home, vehicle continued to pull to right. Took vehicle to reputable, national company for a courtesy road test. They confirmed vehicle pulls to the right. Returned to dealer a couple of hours later with the complaint that the vehicle still pulling to right. Management is contacting the "Dodge technicians" to see what can be done about my vehicle. I was told by this dealer that they had experienced similar problems with another 05 Magnum, that they were told by the "Dodge technicians" that the vehicles are within specs and within tolerances. " within tolerances of what? I know that if I let go of the wheel, or do not apply constant pressure to the left, this vehicle will run off the road! the extreme tire wear I experienced was directly related to the front end of this vehicle. At present my vehicle has 16000 miles on it. Left front tire that was removed was extremely scary as to how it had worn so badly. I am not in possession of the removed tires.

14 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2005

My 2005 Dodge Magnum r/t experiences alignment issues with the vehicle pulling to the right. While the manufacturer claims it is "within spec" the dealership does not deny the problem exists. I have visited the dealership twice regarding the issue and will most likely go back a third time. I am aware of a TSB that is out regarding this issue, however I feel dealerships may not have all the information or choose not to perform the necessary work to fix this obviously widespread flaw.

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2005

My 2005 Dodge Magnum constantly drifts to the right even after the recommended adjustment made by the service bulletin relating to this problem. The car is in service for the third time for the same problem. Dealer's service manager notes that this is a safety feature to prevent head on collisionsl now I've heard everything.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2005

Car always pulls to the right.

17 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2005

Vehicle pulls to right. Dealer acknowledges issue, attempted fix issued by Chrysler, dealer says fix does not correct problem. Tires wearing. Been in for fix 4 times. Still pulls, always pulled.

18 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2004

1 car pulls badly to the right since ownership 2 tires prematurely failing and hard to keep on road 3 dealer attempted to repair 2 times with no resolve at my cost of car rental.

19 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2004

My 2005 Magnum has always pulled to the right even after 4 visits to the dealer. I was told this is a safety thing that it drits to the right, my car pulls to the right. I also hear a clunk noise evertime I start from a stop, this was proven to be normal based on the fact every other Magnum on the lot made this same noise. My brakes also make a bad grinding sound when I stop, this will be going to the dealer shortly for this problem.

20 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2004

I have severe outside shoulder wear on both front tires of my 2005 Dodge Magnum, VIN # 2d8gv58205h510694, more on the driver's side than the passenger. Chrysler has replaced the tires once, and aligned four times, but the problem still comes back within 600 miles. Without rotating, my tires would only last about 8000 miles. The car also exhibits enough steering wheel "feedback" on road seams to cause loss of control to anyone "new" to driving this car. The Chrysler district representative has driven this car and claims this is normal. I do not agree! he also claims that severe vibration at various highway speeds and braking conditions is normal. In heavy highway traffic, light braking will make it difficult to stay in my proper lane. Once again, I cannot agree with Chrysler. Thank you, edward s. Mackavage, jr. Ps - I retained two of the original tires that were on the car when delivered. These were replaced by tires I purchased from the dealer.

21 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2004

2005 Dodge Magnum bought new - has always pulled to the right. Dealer has done 5 front end alignments and replaced two tires to no avail. It seems that Chrysler is trying to sweep this not uncommon problem under the rug. Dealer played games with dates on invoices and service records in attempt (in my opinion) to hold off on my being able to take legal action. The car cannot be driven without it veering to the right. It is absolutely essential that such a serious defect be fixed before serious injury or worse occurs.

22 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

Left rear window will not work from driver side car drifts to the right.
