I have owned this 2006 Dodge Magnum se v6 2. 7l from new, bought in April 2006, the problem I'm having is with the car stalling, without any notice, happening today when turning left at a stop light and starting uphill. I was able to restart the car after pulling to the right without power, coming to a stop, putting the car in park, and restarting. I made it back home, but the car has been cranking over and not starting when in my garage, this after filling up with gas. I've had this issue happen before from 2006 onward to today, only a few times a year, and changed out the fuel pump relay each time and thought that was the problem, but the car has never stalled while driving before now, only when sitting at a light or stop sign after filling up the tank. The car only has 73,000 miles now after 13 years, I always baby the car and it still looks new. Thanks for any help with this matter.
My Dodge Magnum stalls after filling up the fuel tank. It happens shortly after filling up and will continue until the car has been driven about 30 miles. It will stall regardless of what speed I am driving. It will restart after a couple tries.
The car stalls soon after refilling the fuel tank, the filling was stopped when the pump automatically shuts off. This is a safety concern because it has happened while driving straight on a street, and also while turning onto a highway. The car becomes difficult to maneuver due to the loss of power assist provided to the steering and brakes by the engine. This appears to be caused by a lack of fuel to the engine. The car has restarted, so far, after a few seconds sitting still in the traffic.
Engine stalled while driving minutes after filling the fuel tank. A known problem with these cars. Had to pull over and run the vehicle for 15 minutes before the engine could run steadily without stalling .
After filling the fuel tank car has been stalling, shutting off on me. Been reading about this issue and seems to be the fuel tank called the dealer that wasn't much help. Just bought the car about a month ago happens every time I fill up.
Just after filling my gas tank on this vehicle, I experienced stalling 3 times, including in an intersection. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer. After inspection, they reported that it was the rollover valve in the fuel tank. I alerted them to the Chrysler extended warranty, they reported that my VIN is not covered as part of this warranty. I feel this is unacceptable on the part of Chrysler as it is the exact problem that is described in the warranty. This needs to be extended to all vehicles as it is a huge safety issue as stalling in an intersection is highly dangerous.
The car runs erratically or stalls after filling the gas tank all the way up. This only lasts for a few miles and then the car runs fine. I was told that this was a known issue and there was a TSB issued, but no recall. If I stop filling a few gallons before the tank is full, there are no problems. I was recently told that Chrysler was extending the warranties on these tanks (pe13016), but was told by my dealer that the extended warranty does not apply to my car, but couldn't tell me why.
After filling up the gas tank my car died about a half dozen times.
The vehicle begin to stall or shut-off after filling tank up, if it did not shut-off the car, it (car) would shutter for a couple of miles before car ran normal.
After refueling vehicle to a full tank of gas, the vehicle will stall when driving. In some cases multiple times. There is no warning prior to the stall and the timing of the incident seems random - sometimes right away after fill-up, sometimes a few miles down the road. Only occurs at full tank condition but does occur every time the tank is filled. When the vehicle stalls it is difficult to start back up - power steering and power brakes are lost during this time. Once the vehicle has traveled 10-15 miles the problem seems to go away - until filling the gas tank again. It seems like an emissions systems type of problem - maybe part of the fuel tank venting system. There are other reports of this problem with similar type of vehicles (Chrysler 300, Dodge charger) on the internet.
I started having problems with my 2006 Magnum srt8 this past winter. With absolutely no warning while driving approximately 10 mph in drive, the engine cutoff and lost all power completely. I also lost all power steering and power brakes. Thank goodness I was on a back road. All of the warning lights flashed on and off and then the check engine light came on. I had to put the car back in park, completely turn off the ignition and restart the car. It restarted without any problems. I drove a few more miles and the exact same thing happened. Again, lucky I was on a back road!! I made it home and it stalled a 3rd time just as I pulled it into the garage. Again, completely random while driving!!!! I took it to my local dealership who could not re-create the problem. I paid for the 60,000 mile service and did not have issues again until this past weekend when the same issue occurred 5 times in 2 days. Again, completely random while driving!!. Dangerous. These particular times occurred after filling the gas tank. I have read multiple similar complaints. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed on the road. I will be taking my car into the dealership once again for diagnostics. I am an anesthesiologist and it doesn't take to one to realize that this is a serious safety issue that needs complete attention and a complete investigation. I love my car but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Dodge and NHTSA, you cannot ignore this. Please feel free to contact me as I will be contacting you.
Immediately after filling gas tank with new fuel the following has happened several times: the car will start at the gas station but shortly after leaving the gas station (within a block or when getting back onto the highway from a rest stop) the car will stall. The stall can happen at a traffic light or even on the way to reaching highway speeds. At this time my solution to the problem has been to rev the engine in neutral for a bit after getting the gas tank filled with fresh gasoline.
After filling up the car with fuel it would stall when driving it. On 11/23/12 I took the car to my local dealer, santa maria Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. They informed me the fuel tank would need to be replaced because the vent valve on fuel tank was faulty. I paid for the repairs at cost of $1607. 25 on 11/28/12. I recently became aware of a recall for this problem but they say my VIN# does not qualify. The problem was a scary situation. I could have been seriously hurt if the car stalled in traffic. Apparently I am not the only one who experienced this problem. E.
After filling the car unpredictably stalls until about 1/2 gallon us used from the tank. Dealer quoted $1500 when incident first occured.
