Gear shift assembly stuck in park.
The common issues of many 2007 Dodge Magnum vehicles is that my shifter will not shift out of the park position, the spring was poorly made and the job cost at a local Dodge place $280. This issue has occurred with several Dodge owners and its outrageous that it not not considered a recall on my vehicle. My vehicle was parked on a side street and after work I went into my car to drive home and the shifter would not move.
Car was in garage at home. I started the engine and was going to back out of garage but could not get shifter out of park. Had car towed to Dodge dealer. Service rep said he's seen other Magnums, 300's and chargers with the same problem. $510. 00 later the car was fixed. . . Entire shifter ass'y was replaced and car runs fine now. No indication of trouble before it broke but this may be a wide spread problem for Chrysler cars. Please investigate.
At gas station pumped gas turned car on go ling approximately 5mph hit break to stop before crossing street breaks failed went completely to floor had to slam into pole to prevent from going into on coming traffic.
Attempted to start vehicle with key in ignition, heard loud boom from rear of vehicle. Battery exploded leaving battery acid all over rear of vehicle.
While car was at idle the electric cooling fan "broke apart" and damaged the radiator. Dodge stated that a recall was issued for the problem but only for cars in warm weather areas (I guess California is considered a cold weather area) dealer stated that even though I live in a warm weather area the recall will still not apply to my vehicle. I find this totally unacceptable and will not continue my business with Dodge any longer.
Vehicle automatic transmission shifter is "stuck in park". This leaves the driver stranded at a location. This is a very common problem with Dodge and Chrysler 2007 vehicles. (also, circa 2007) a recall was issued for the shifter interlock "pink thing" but only for certain vins. Mine has the same part, but not covered by the recall. If you look on the internet at "Dodge stuck in park" you will see how many people like me are in this same predicament. I am old and have medical problems for which I don't need to be stranded or may need the vehicle to get to a doctor, etc. Chrysler Dodge should issue a recall for the rest of these "stuck in park issues". Thanks!.
First instance, while slowing down for a stop light felt a shudder and engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal. Coasted to stop, engine restarted without trouble. Near full tank of fuel. Second instance, while in a parking lot shifting from park to reverse engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal and engine restarted without trouble. Filled fuel tank the previous day, 3/4 tank today. Has happened on other occasions while driving at slow speeds but I do not remember the quantity of fuel, each time that car has restarted without instance and each time everything else appeared normal. The engine always seems to run properly and all of the cars other systems seem to operate normally.
Vehical stalls while driving. Can happen at any speed. Has happened several times and could happen at a time when a serious accident could happen. The dealer claims no knowledge of such things and advised that it was bad fuel pumps. The replaced them at a cost of about $1,200. 00 and that did not fix the problem. I beleive that after my research it is the tipm module. Dealer has refused to repay me and I am afraid to let my wife drive the car as it is a intermittent problem.
