Five problems related to brake master cylinder have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Neon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer contacted dealer about recall#96v075000/manufacturer's recall 687, and dealer said parts will not be in for about 3 months.
Both the master cylinder and the power brake booster have been replaced.
While applying the brakes in a regular stopping situation, no inclement weather, the brakes went out. The pedal went to floor and vehicle kept moving. Driver used the emergency parking brake to stop vehicle. This happened without warning. The master cylinder and abs brakes were replaced by the dealer.
Master cylinder failed/replaced. However problem persists.
The brake pedal becomes rock hard and there is no braking ability. After a couple of miles the pedal becomes soft and goes to the floor and the brakes lock up. Master cylinder and power booster have been replaced, problem still exists.
