Five problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Neon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Sprag gear broke, vehicle was maintained according owners manual. A good transmission should not fail at 56000. This car was not driven hard. And there is no reason for tranny to fail.
Car started to jerk and speed dropped while going up hill.

Gears were not shifting properly, vehicle was towed to dealer, after inspection of vehicle, dealer replaced transmission. Consumer states that second gear was grinding.
