Seven problems related to engine have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Neon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Head gasket has been diagnosed as bad on my car that has had the oil changed every 3000 miles and these are highway miles. Told that this is a common problem with Neons.
Head gasket went out in vehicle and Chrysler says that it is not their problem. Vehicle is only 2 yrs and should not have this problem. Chrysler stated that they know this is a common defect in Neons?trunck will not remain open with out support. Chrysler says this is normal?it falls even on level ground. Too many problems for such a new vehicle.
Fluid leaked under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the cylinder head gasket had to be replaced. There was only 46000 miles on the car at the time of failure.
Head gasket has prematurley blown out at 66,000 miles. Dealers were aware of defect.
When on highway at 65 mph and without prior warning clutch went out, causing loss of all acceleration. Also, clutch was replaced at 15 thousand miles. Clutch and the flywheel needed to be replaced. Please provide any further details.
Taken car in many times for "engine checklight"--cause #4 cylinder mis-firing or not-firing--light reset-problem keeps returning--cd playes/speakers replaced-cd player skipped frequently-speakers cracked--windshield replaced 10mos after car purchase--unidentified leak--passenger side from under dashboard--window seals replaced-leak continues--leak checked again-dealer claims to find no leak--problem continues.
Not long after cars are bought the mounts crack and alow the engine to move to much causing car to jerk around, this seems to me to be a design flaw .
