The Neon was driving down the road when I lost acceleration and it spewed transmission fluid (and mixed with what I later found out was cooling fluid) all over the road. The car could no longer accelerate and is inoperable. The mechanic later determined that the radiator had failed and leaked coolant into the transmission causing it to overheat and fail.
While the headlights are on and signaling for a right turn the fog lights come on the entire time it was in that position. This happens every time now although the fog light switch is in the off position. While trying to find the source of the problem I noticed that movement of the turn signal stalk in a circular motion also turned on the fog lights briefly.
Chrysler dealer zanetti sent a notice of a recall for my car. The dealer does not service my vehicle nor did I purchase it there in the bronx, NY. When checking with NHTSA database and the local dealer in white plains, there is no such recall number "cjd021210". These types of notifications are ficticious and should not be used to solicit customers for their gains.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Neon. Everytime the contact activates the heat in the vehicle, he noticed an influx of carbon monoxide in the vehicle. He exhibits physiological symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, such as feeling light headed. The dealer could not identify the cause of the failure or find a remedy. The failure mileage was 44,000 and current mileage was 50,500.

I bought the car brand new. No previous owners. The car is a 2002 Dodge Neon 4 door. The paint began to peel off approx two years after I bought it. I took it to a Dodge dealership and was told that Dodge would not help me since it looked like the paint was coming off because of stones hitting it. You can clearly see where the paint is about to peel more, because it bubbles up first, then splits, then peels off. The paint will literally fly off when driving and you can see it go up past the windshield. The paint is peeling off in sheets. I have read many, many other consumers with this same type of problem. Why isn't Dodge taking responsibility for this? I have contacted Dodge with no response. Now the car is past its warranty stage. Someone should make Dodge make this right.
I had purchased a 2002 Dodge Neon sxt in September of 2002. After a few months of driving my car until today October 10th, 2003 I have had my car at the dealer 6 different times for the same problem. I have an electrical short somewhere where it makes all my gauges die and flicker. The brake and seat belt light come on and chime. . . My dome light flickers like a strobe light. . My radio cuts out and sometimes my power window will not work properly. The first couple times the said clusters in the back of the dash had to be tightened. After this didn't work the next step was to replace the dashboard. After this didn't work they decided to rig an auxillary ground to my battery by splicing into the cluster on the back of the dash. The last straw was when they took my car and wanted it for a week, but I got it back in 2 days and the response was we can't duplicate it. . . So when can't fix it. We're stumped. I don't accept that as an answer and now have been getting the runaround from the dealership and Chrysler headquarters in detroit. Even so much so that a woman who worked there told my they are going above and beyond what they need to do for me as a customer by providing me with a rental. If they would have went above and beyond for me they would have fixed it the first time. . . Now I don't even want the car anymore.
The car was bought in March of 2003 and 2 weeks later we had a windshield replaced . Since that time when ever we have heavy rainfall water leaks in on the passenger side coming in through the heating vent . All basis have been covered concerning the windshield replacement. We thought it was an improper windshield installment but it is not. We took it to the dealership where we bought it and they cleaned out the water drain for the heater but since then we had a heavy rainfall and it still continues to leak . Obviously they have no idea what the problem is and at the same time im getting more and more frustrated about this.
I own a 1998 Dodge Neon with 89,700 miles on it. I took it to valley smog and repair in van nuys, CA. I took it there to get my 90,000 mile work done on it. As they were pulling it into the garage they noticed a substantial oil leak. When they put the car on the rack, they saw oil all over the bottom of the car. I was called and told that my head gasket was cracked and needed to be replaced as driving on it any more would cause the engine to expire. I told them to proceed with the work, which ended up costing me just over $1100. I did some research on the web and discovered that many people have had this problem. With further research I found out that Chrysler had secretly extended the warranty on this part to 5 years/100,000 miles and would reimburse the owner of the car if any work was done to fix this problem. I called the 800 number and was told that because of the age of my car and the fact that the work was done at a non Dodge garage, I would not be reimbured my $1100. As I already explained, my car was not 5 years old yet and had not reached 100,000 miles. The man that I spoke with, a guy named mike, made it seem like I should have driven my car, leaking oil, to Dodge to pay double the money and still not have any recourse for the situation. I'd like to know if you can help me in finding out any additional information about this secret warranty and also I'd like some help in getting my money back. Thank you.
Nine times out of ten, when driving my 1996 Dodge Neon, the speedometer and odometer do not work. The speedometer usually stays at zero, however, it sometimes fluctuates between zero and fifteen mph even when traveling with the flow of traffic between 40-55 mph.
2000 Dodge Neon leaks when it rains. Tons of water on the floor board in the back seat and in the trunk. So bad that it has to be bailed out and stays wet. Dealership refuses to do anything because the car is no longer under warranty. We feel this is a defect and should be fixed at no cost to us and has nothing to do with a warranty. We bought the car used in Jan of 2002.

By taking care of my car, ie. Washing and waxing it, I ended up keeping a known factory defect from occuring untill after their three year warranty. Then 70% of the paint pealed off the roof and trunk of my car when I washed it one day. I was told by the dealer that the manufacturer knew about it but was never forced to issue a recall or notify customers. When the manufacture was contacted they said that it was out of warenty but out of the goodness of their heart they would pay $285. 00 toward having it repainted at a Dodge dealerbwho would charge me $2,800. 00 because the problem is with the electro primer and the car would need to be stripped to the bare metal and reprimed.

This is a known problem that daimler Chrysler is well aware of. They should recall this and many other Neons instead of making me pay for the repair myself. If one logs onto the internet it becomes painfully apparent with a quick search that thousands of people have the same experience as me.
I purchased this car exactly 1 week before my "engine check light came on, so I am not familiar with any previous problems that may apply to this car.
I have contacted your agency on several ocassions with no reply or results. Just by browsing the complaints of other Neon owners, it is obvious this car has problems. I have talked to several auto mechanics about this particular defect, and have been told that this is not an uncommon problem with the Neons. I'm hoping that enough people will report this defect, so the manufacurer will issue a recall.

Would like to know if this is a manufacturers faulty part. The Neon is only 2 to 3 years old and should not have a blown head gasket! reguarly give tune ups, so not entirely sure why the car already has a blown head gasket.
Cylinder head was pitted and cracked,head gasket needs to be replaced can't get replacement parts,because of national back order. Maybe we could drive 250 miles to columbia mo. They might have part; had to go to junk yard for cylindar head still no gasket. . . New parts not in parts books they have up to 96,but not 96. . . Al's machine shop in belleville, IL. Stated there had been at least 60 heads replaced in the area. Consequently we have a car that hasn't been in operatio since October, this is 11/12/98.

Instrument panel failed 500 miles after the warranty expired. Odometer, speedometer, tripometer, fuel gauge and all the warning lights stopped working. The speedometer will then reset itself and then work for a few miles, then quit.

Have had to take car in so many times for the same problems that were not being fixed in the first place. They would tell me to drive it for a time and see if the noise would stop. I realize this isn't a safety complaint, but I have nowhere to turn. My car is 3 years old, with no history of damage, no rust, no reason for the paint to suddenly start coming of in huge flaps, that I pick up off the driveway on windy days and put in my glove compartment. I complained to the dealership and they said, "we've never heard of that. " and that was the help I got. I have seen Neons (at least six to date) randomly around my area, in my color (lapis blue) all with this exact problem. I find it very hard to believe that chrylser doesn't know about this!!!! the Chrysler website provides nowhere to turn for complaints, not even a phone #. I have had the trunk repainted once befor for the same reason while under warenty , now it is pealing off the top , the warenty is out , and no one can help me , I cant even get hold of the paint to do it my self because Dodge no longer carries the the prodect . . . . . . . .
