The vehicle was parked and when I went to open the door with the handle as usual it broke in my hand. I was unable to get out of the vehicle because of this. I have researched this matter and it has happened to a large amount of people. I feel that this is a flaw it the vehicle and the design of the door handle is poorly made.
Interior door handle broke(plastic) . Poor handle design. Cannot open door from inside without unlocking door manualy and putting down window and unlocking from outside handle. Safety issue in a accident. Reported to Dodge to check if recall was in affect. Was told it was not.
I have had my 2007 Dodge Nitro for about 3 years now. Since I have had the vehicle, I have noticed that the door handles inside the vehicle are faulty and continually fail. They break and become innoperable, leaving who ever is sitting by the door trapped in the vehicle unless opened from the outside. My door handle broke for the first time and I thought it might have been my fault. Since then my door handles has broken several times and I have had to spend alot of money to replace them every time. I make less than the average blue collar worker and do not have the $175 every time the vehicle door handle breaks. Therefore, at times such as now I have to leave the vehicle handles broken because I can't afford it. I currently have two door handles broken right now. I feel this is a huge safety concern because if a car accident were to happen, and the person sitting next to the door with the broken handle needed to exit the vehicle in a hurry, they would not be able to get out. Once the handle is broken, the door cannot be opened from the inside. So, lets say the vehicle was on fire. The person next to the door with the broken handle would be stuck unless someone opened the door from the outside or unless that person were to quickly roll the window down, reach out and open the door from the outside. I feel this is a huge safety concern and have voiced my opinion to Dodge about the issue. I asked them to start a recall of the item and find a suitable replacement for it that will not break all the time. Dodge would not even hear my concerns and pointed me towards this website. I hope this issue is taken seriously, because I know I am not the only person who is having this issue. Many Dodge Nitro owners are having the same issue of you google it, you will see. I feel Dodge might have a major law suit coming if this issue causes the death of a person.
Drivers side door handle snapped is now just hanging. In order to exit vehicle need to roll window down , open door from outside , roll window back up , then turn vehicle off. This is a hazard. . . . . . In an emergency. . . If power goes out while in car. . . I will not be able to exit vehicle. . . . What if my electric window stops working. . . Then I am stuck. . . . Not safe. . . .
I own a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The car is less four years old and I am having major repair problems already. I understand that wear and tear of a vechicle will result in repairs, but I have never had an ac compresser go out within four years. Needless to say, Dodge is refusing to fix the problem. I have researched the problem on line and their are countless Dodge Nitro customers with the same problem. If there is a defect with the compressor, it's not my responsibility to pay for it. Dodge really needs to investigate this complaint. I requested to speak to a supervisor at Dodge headquarters, and I was told that would not happen. The customer service representative went on to say the repairs would be my responsibility.
Interior door handle on the drivers door broke leaving the driver unable to exit the vehicle. The drive was able to exit by use of the exterior handle on the same door but that would not have been the case if the window was not functional.
After filling up my 2007 Dodge Nitro gas spew out with force on myself and the side of the SUV. When unlocking or locking my vehicle sometime the the cooling fan and radio will turn on. Both of my back windows don't not work.
Come outside keys in hand and my truck is running check engine light is on all displays are lit up and no there is not an auto start on my vehicle this has happened 6 times and was not diagnosed until recently that the tipm module is the problem until recently because when the check engine light goes off the codes do not appear and was told this is a safety issue cause it can turn off my lights while driving lock me in my car mess with my horn wipers steering cause this is the brain to my truck but due to me being out of warranty now I am exsprcted to pay for out of pocket even though it started under warranty.
