Two problems related to other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings have been reported for the 2007 Dodge Nitro. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Spews fuel when fueling . Used 1/4th of a tank and was at stop light and gas cap blew off and gas spewed outside and smelled like raw fuel inside for 2 days.
When fueling the car, the auto shutoff does not work and fuel spews out of the tank. This is most likely caused by a valve in the gas tank that is there to prevent an explosion in the event of a rollover accident. The valve is defective, and thus the gas spills out, and the car could possibly explode in a rollover accident. I had taken it to a dealership about a year ago and all they would do is clean out the filter. That did not resolve the problem.
