Three problems related to alternator/generator/regulator have been reported for the 2008 Dodge Nitro. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
It started with all dash lights coming on saying it had issues and then just stopped dead in road. I had tpim put in, then alternator , and then new battery. Was fine and then head lights stopped coming on . Next, it starting with horn, and everything under the sun coming on and not stopping. Took to shop and they thought they found it, and drove for a day and as soon as I turned on headlights it stalled. In motion on a street driving.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Nitro. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle lost power. The contact stated that the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the alternator and battery were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the alternator was previously replaced three times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 07v291000 (electrical system); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
I dropped my daughter off at school and was returning home when all the dash lights appeared and vehicle started to shut down. Had the battery checked and alternator checked both was fine. Similar problems occurred about 8 months earlier replaced battery and battery ends. Took the vehicle to dealer to get checked out. Same problem with battery ends needs replacing. Also have been replacing rear lights every three to six months turns out the switch needed to be replaced. Not sure if these are normal problems for a five year old vehicle.
