I am experiencing electrical issues with my 2011 Dodge Nitro sxt. Despite replacing the alternator and battery, the SUV continues to have operational problems. Additionally, I replaced the tmp. I subsequently took the vehicle to a local mechanical shop, where it was confirmed that the issue lies with the pcm (powertrain control module). I have read about a recall related to electrical issues in the Nitro, and I would like to inquire about the possibility of obtaining reimbursement. Thank you for your assistance.

The tire even when changed or applying air the light still jumps on like it’ has low air pressure. And the electrical the door lock n unlock is backwards lock will be unlock and unlock is locked. Only 3 doors will lock automatically.

The horn started blowing randomly, pulled the negative battery connector as recommended to reset tipm. The horn continued to go off pulled the fuses as recommended. Was told if it kills the battery the timp needs to be replaced. That is a common issue for this year model vehicle. Called about a recall the recall is for vehicles manufacturer from 07/17/2011 to 12/2011. My truck was manufactured three days prior to this recall time frame. I believe my vehicle is affected by the faulty tipm as well. I would like the part to be covered under the recall.
My SUV keep having problems with the electrical issues, first it started with the radio and then my brake light keep bowing and we replaced the circuit board and bulps and within three days they blowed again and at night when I turn my lights on my brake lights or turn signals do not work,.
My check engine light is on becuase of the rollover sensor issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the wind shield wipers would erroneously activate. During the failure the turn signals were inoperable. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer freedom Dodge(815 east camp wisdom rd. Duncanville TX) and manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000. Jft.
3 weeks after having my 2011 Dodge Nitro detenator would stick between gears, at both slow and high speeds and I was burnning through gas way too fast. Nissian found my tansmittion oil to be black, I paid for flush and told it was good to go. Next day the car died, the throttle body indicator came on, this was fixed, still burning through gas! couple weeks later now it sounds like a disel engine idle, I can not afford all these problems. I found several owners of this car have had same problems along with electrical as I have had as well, my electrical system cuts out randomly and a few times my kids and I have smelt what seemed to be that of burnt rubber or something. Im very displeased and upset with my purchase.
Multiple attempts to start, while driving at the highway or at a light it slow down as if going to shuts off, rear windows not working, doors power locks intermittent.
Was driving up mechanicsville turnpike in richmond,va. Heading home when vehicle cut off without any warning then had to try and start it back up after 3ctries , been complaining and getting brakes repaired since 2016 have been complaining about rear double clicking since 2016.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. When the vehicle was started, the windshield wipers activated independently and remained activated. The contact was unable to turn off the windshield wipers. The vehicle was taken to button Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (1220 e blvd st, kokomo, in 46902, (888) 415-6958) where it was diagnosed that the tipm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Takata recall.
Door lock module has failed posing a safety hazard as only one door has a key lock. Rear hatch has become non functional as there is no way to release the latch as the electronic latch is inoperable and no manual key lock exists. The part is on national back order due from overwhelming failures. I have an infant and this poses serious risk to my children as I can only unlock the doors from inside. This needs to be a mandated recall to fix this issue. This happened after the vehicle was parked and started intermittently, and now has reached total lock system failure. This is more than a common problem with widespread 2011 Dodge Nitro owners.
I have a Dodge Nitro heat, the car is a lemon. Constant fails with hvac, electric, coils, catalytic converter. My engine light came on and I took the car to the shop next day. Now I am being told the transmission system needs to be replaced for 4k. I have only had the car since 2012, new. Not even 5 yrs old in use. I think this is a real issue that I got a lemon from Dodge. They should do something.
I started a complaint before and the ref number is 10995543 but more has happened since. I have had several occasions were my car would accelerate on its own and not stop. I lost all control and it was like the car had a mind of its own. The car then would stall in middle of roads, intersections, ect, I was almost hit head on by a construction truck one time last year cause the car accelerated while driving on a busy street, the car just accelerated, and wouldnt stop at a red light and the brakes would not work. The steering and everything seized up and then the car just shut down. A red lightning bolt popped up on the dash right before it died. This happened once in 2015, once in 2016, and twice in 2017. I was told over and over by ed shults of jamestown that it is not an electrical issue. Then I filed a report in June of 2017 cause it happened again, and again they just charged me and said it wasnt electrical. Now yesterday 9/27/2017 the vehicle did it again so I called ed shults and they wanted me to pay a daignosis fee again and to pay to have it towed 45 miles away, so I sent it to dave warren in jamestown NY instead and he is a Dodge dealer, and they informed me today that it is electrical. I am so upset because this vehicle has almost killed me, its under warranty but the warranty doesnt seem to cover much of anything or even the diagnosis, and I am still paying on this vehicle that is costing so much in repairs. Please help.
Wipers stopped working 12/20/16. Dealership said it was the wiper motor and it was $300. 00 to repair. When the wiper motor replacement didn't work we were told it was the tipm and no recalls however previous years prior there where recalls. The tipm is going to cost $936. 00 plus the repair cost looking at rough estimate of $1,500. It's futunate I was in my driveway and not driving in a rain or snow storm. I have been without a vehicle for a week, a major incovience getting back and forth to work. Not sure how an investigation was closed and denied that there were any safety issues with the tipm on the 2011 model. I have read many complaints concerning the tipm.
My 2011 Dodge seems to have an electrical issue. I am unable to use the defrost, or air. Each time I turn it on the engine begins to run hot. Also my windshield wipers turn on when I start my engine, but they were not engaged. This happens wen the vehicle is turned on and stationary as well as when in motion.
Since last week, randomly while vehicle was in motion or sitting at idle, it will chime with a warning. All my warning lights flash, all my gauges stop working except vehicle temp, my odometer reads "no bus". The wipers begin to go crazy on their own and I lose operation of my blinkers and high beams as well as fog lights and control of wipers. Main headlights just stay on. The vehicle still runs and drives but the gauges just sound like everything is constantly trying to reset. This lasts anywhere from a minute to 20 minutes. The vehicle will go back to normal and then randomly it will happen again. I drove from charleston wv to la plata MD and this instance occurred 9 times in that 6 hour drive. It was completely random and lasted random amounts of time. No bumps or turns triggered it. It didn't favor happening going up or down mountains, just whenever it decided to glitch out. So at any given point during my drive, I'd lose capabilities to use my blinkers and high beams, let alone know how fast I was going and how much fuel I had left. . . . It was very nerve-wracking. From my research with these symptoms, it points to the tipm. This concerns me as multiple other Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles have had recalls on the tipm for this and fuel pump relay issues. But my vehicle wasn't listed. I feel loss of blinkers, speed and fuel gauges, and proper use of my high beams/fog lights and windshield wipers is a major safety concern. If I can be pulled over not using a blinker but cannot use it due to this issue at random times. . . That should drive a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no repair solution. The failure mileage was not available.
The wind shield wipers come on and wont turn off and none of the lighting controls work , high beam, on /off, dash controls. . . This happens randomly.
My vehicle intermittently will shut off or deny power to the fuel pump, it also will intermittently flash warning signs, and turn the wipers on indefinitely. The issues have all been traced back to the power module and more specifically nonservicable relays. I've contacted the dealership and Chrysler and neither have an eta on the part should I order one. Mostly it happens while stationary but it caused the vehicle to stall on the highway twice. It stated doing this in fall of 2015 but I couldn't properly diagnosis it until March due to it being intermittent.
After remote starting my vehicle which was parked in the driveway, the windshield wipers will not turn off.
Driving on 2 lane highway and had to brake hard as another vehicle cut me off. As soon as I did (brake) my SUV shut off. . . All the lights flashed on the dash board. I immediately put the flashers on and hoped I didn't get rear-ended. I tried 3x to restart my 2011 Dodge Nitro- it finally started. I was near the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, I pulled in, told them what just happened. They hooked it up to the computer and reported 'no errors'. It was a near miss on a busy highway, and I am worried if this were to happen again. I don't feel safe in my Dodge Nitro. I was alone, but what if I had passengers, children, etc. ? it is definitely a safety issue when you brake hard and your vehicle just shuts off, wouldn't move. This is incredible scary. Someone or more than one person is going to be killed when they get slammed from behind and pushed into on coming traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
We were on vacation in st augustine FL in the middle of an intersection getting ready to turn and the engine just completely shut off for no reason at all , thank goodness it was around 11:00 at night and there wasn't much traffic because we had a semi truck coming at us , luckily it started right back up and we got out of the way because it could have been a horrific accident ! this vehicle also sputters from time to time like the engine is going to die and also the windshield wipers come on by them selves for no reason !.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the engine began to rev as the rpms increased independently. In addition, the doors failed to lock electronically and all doors locked independently. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the tipm needed to be replaced. However, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000. The VIN was unavailable. Oo.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Nitro. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning and stalled directly afterwards. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal depressed on its own and almost caused a crash. Ed shults Ford of jamestown, new york was made aware of the failure and replaced the relay box that caused the red lightning bolt warning indicator to illuminate without warning on several occasions. The failure recurred. The contact called the same dealer about the failure and the dealer requested that she pay a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no warranty coverage because the defect had not originated from the engine. In addition, the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Airbags: this vehicle has had a recall for a "ram" emblem being placed over the airbag such that it becomes a projectile in an airbag depleyment. Dodge makes it very difficult to avail of getting it removed. I am not close to the dealership, I am very busy and somewhat disabled. Since the first notice arrived in the mail-- maybe three years ago-- I have returned the notices with a request for them to send a tech to my home and make the repair. I see there has been at least one death due to this obvious flaw, butthey have not cared enough to answer. Why should I take a day so that they can fix this deadly "extra feature" of shrapnel being placed over an explosive? electrical: this is a serious safety issue that Dodge will not recognize or even discuss. Getting the window back up is a matter of finessing the "up" switch every which way, multiple attempts required (switch has now fallen out). Very distracting, after going through a toll booth after dark and 15 degrees. You can't stop and f with it, you have to do it on the move. It can take as long as five minutes to get it back up (window now completely disabled). They will do anything to save seventeen cents per car, who cares if it makes it unsafe for the owner. Not Dodge! I wrote to Dodge (no reply), then the mi attorney general about this, they responded "we have written to this manufacturer twice and have not received a response". Dodge takes no responsibility for their shoddy work. We pay, we die, they keep doing what they do. It disappoints that even the ag's "consumer protection division" has no teeth. Visibility: it would be interesting to learn how many pedestrians have been hit with this particular model. With all the safety regs out there, it's amazing that a design that blocks visibility gets a pass. Unfortunately it is not the kind of thing you can discover in a test drive, but - crosswalks and four-way stops in particular are dangerous. You can hide a ryder truck behind these a pillars.
I purchased my 2011 Dodge Nitro brand new from gulf gate Dodge here in houston TX. Since then, I have had numerous issues with this truck starting in 2013. Last year, the water pump went out. This year the fuel injectors went out. In both occasions, I paid out of pocket to get the issues corrected. I have also called the dealership to ask for assistance, and have had no luck. They were probably as helpful as a grain of rice. I was not made aware that my repairs were covered under my powertrain warranty until the repairs were done, (how convenient). Now the most recent situation seems to be an electrical problem with the driver's side power master window switch (pmws). Back in Aug 2014,the driver window went out. Then 10/17/2014(Friday) the passenger back window went out. 10/20/2014, Monday evening,my fiancã© went (around the corner) to run an errand and returned home with in about 15 minutes, screaming grab the ph!, and come out side the driver side door caught fire. Apparently, the (pmws) started to smoke and caught a fire. He told me he was unable to get out through the driver side, and crossed over to the passenger side. When I did make it outside to the truck. You could smell the burn, and see where the side door panel was melted. I reported this to Chrysler on 10/21/2014. Today is 10/30/2014 and in spite of the "someone will contact you in 24hrs" statements, I am still waiting on the call. I am still really deeply disturbed with the thought that my kids father could have died, or even worse if it would have been either of my 2 small kids or my self. Since the incident with my truck. I have had to pay for a rental car, walk to the stores, walk my kids to the bus stop. I'm having to catch the metro bus in the we hours of the morning just to make it to work in time. I'm very sadden, upset, and confused with this. I will never purchase any Chrysler vehicles again.
The first sign of issues was in September, one morning after my car had been locked all night like always, the car alarm on the vehicle just sounded. I ran outside and unlocked the car then locked it again and went inside, I went back and forth multiple times, each time after locking the vehicle the alarm would sound within five minutes, I proceeded to turn on the car, I had system warnings present stating my trunk was unlocked. I closed the trunk multiple times but the warning never subsided. I had to leave the car unlocked while parked until I took the car into the dealership later that day, the mechanics could not replicate the "gate ajar" warning, and the car alarm system problem couldn't be fixed that day. Two days later, keeping my car constantly unlocked, I took my Nitro in for an evaluation, I left with a copy of the diagnosis, after the hour they hooked my engine up to their computer they still were unable to tell me what was wrong. The next day after 5 hours in the shop and $708. 00 Dodge reprogrammed the tipm and replaced my spark plugs. The car problems were solved for two days, then again my car alarm went off while locked, the gate ajar warning also comes on randomly. I made an appointment to bring it in one last time, the day before I brought it in I was driving at 65mph and the car just shut off without warning. I had to remove the keys and jumpstart, the car was okay until later that evening when the dash computer started flashing random warnings while driving. Today my car was in the shop for 10 hours, they reprogrammed the tipm again, and the mechanics have no fix for my car. Every issue I am experiencing is that of the vehicles recalled in the Chrysler tipm recall, Dodge refuses to refund or replace my tipm and state that my VIN was not affected. I am in a rental car for the night, tomorrow I have the option of taking the car home as is.
While driving down interstate with 3 passengers including a toddler the keys fell out of the ignition. The truck lost power and steering abilities. When the truck reached 20mph I noticed the keys were not in the ignition. I grabbed them, handed them to my husband. He put truck in neutral, started truck. This happened again at an intersection about a month later. I udually only have truck key and or a house key on a single ring. Please consider testing vehicles for this possibility and the deadly probability.
My windshield wipers come on in and won't turn off. It happens when I turn on vehicle and wont turn off unless I pull out the fuse for them and leave the fuse out for while. At the same time the problem starts with the wipers, my blinkers won't work at all. I haven't been able to find a quick fix to get them to work again, unless I disconnect my battery and then reconnect it. That doesnt always fix the problem though. Both of these problems happen periodically, every so often and at random times. It's happened atleast 20 times now.
This is about the ignition key. An extra key costs $200, this is a safety issue if somebody loses their key and was not able to afford a spare. It is extortion by Dodge. Also-- to check the transmission fluid? make an appointment with the dealer and pay $25 minimum. Neither my mechanic nor the quick oil change place can check it-- there is no dipstick, there is a special tool and where the dipstick would be it says "dealer only" and that is true. More extortion. It is not right and needs to be stopped. "a" pillars are extremely thick-- di to the styling, overall visibility is severely compromised in this vehicle. They should all be recalled. Trans and 4wd are jerky and growl and howl. Dealer: "they're all like that". These are also very much safety issues. Thank you, nfc.
