Fuel tank overflows when filling up at the pump. I've had gasoline spew out all over me several times now. I can see by investigating this online that this is a "dangerous" and "known" issue on many Dodge makes, models and years.
I went to grab my door handle with 2 fingers and the handle just snapped preventing me from exiting my vehicle. In the event of an emergency I fear that I am unable to exit my vehicle due to this faulty handle that has been manufactured for this vehicle. This is just one of many issues this vehicle has in addition to the 7 or 8 recalls for issues that have already been acknowledged. This whole vehicle should be recalled! almost every plastic part on this vehicle has broken off, cracked, or malfunctioned.
I have had nothing but problems with the vehicle since I purchased it less than a year ago. The drivers side door handle broke. The only way to get out of the vehicle is to put down the window and open the handle from the outside handle. The driver side door panel is loose. The electrical panel with the power window and door locks occasionally comes right out of the door on the driver side. Roof rack has started to come off in the upper right hand corner near passenger side. Side panels of the front driver and passenger seats are loose and when you go to get out of the vehicle they catch on your clothing. They are unable to be repaied as they are made of plastic. The paneling under the steering wheel became loose and almost caused an accident as it got stuck on the brake pedal. I feel that this vehicle was made with poor quality and is unsafe with all the problems that keep happening.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the plastic case that protects the wiring and button for the driver seat adjustment button fractured. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred several times before. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician verified the failure and stated that it needed to be replaced. Brake failure, steering malfunction, seats replaced multiple times.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro 4x2. When the contact exits the vehicle, a panel located on the passenger and driver sides of the seat catches and rips her clothing. As a result, she sustained scratches on her leg. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair, but the failure recurred. The dealer has taken over a month to acquire the parts needed to make the repair. The manufacturer was informed by the dealer that the contact used profanity when she spoke with them, which is why they have not been of assistance. The contact stated that her care taker was the one speaking with them at the time, and not her. When the vehicle was purchased, the contact noticed paint issues with the vehicle. The dealer stated that they were short handed and would notify her of when to bring the vehicle back. As of June 6, 2008, the dealer has not informed her of when to return the vehicle and no repairs have been made. The current mileage was 28,775 and the failure mileage was unknown.
