Three problems related to front seat belt buckle assembly have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Both front seat belts retractor/lock interchanges buckle assembly broke. This was discovered when trying to buckle up with the seat belts, no incident where this could have occurred. Consumer felt this was defective. Spoke to dealer, who said this was out of warranty, but was told some time ago said safety features were covered. Has not contacted manufacturer at this time.
Rear seat belt will not stay locked. It would be hard to keep child seat locked in properly. Dealer notified. Consumer stated that the rear right side seat belt came apart into pieces allowing strap to not retain baby seat.
Both seat belts will not unlock. This problem started about five months ago. Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem.
