Three problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Fuel pump failed as I was slowing for a stop sign, on a heavily traveled road. Had it replaced at fayetteville Dodge, within 2 days. If it had failed on a thruway, I could imagine the results might have been more serious .
Fuel sending unit went out. This indicated that tank was empty. Took vehicle to dealer . Dlr put in a fuel pump,. But pump was defective, and dealer sent part back. Consumer has been out of a car 2 weeks. Fuel sensor failed and later on the fuel pump failed too.
