Four problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. The vehicle has cooper discoverer s/t tires, size 37x12. 50r17lt. While driving 25 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road until someone was able to change the tire. The entire tire beneath the tread and the sidewall blew out completely. There was a recall initiated by cooper tires; however, the contact was unaware if the manufacturer would reimburse her for the damages. Nhtsa campaign id number 06t016000 (tires:tread/belt) was referenced. The VIN, dot number, and mileages were unknown.
While driving on the interstate, the right rear tire came apart. The tire was blown out in multiple areas. The responding trooper advised it was one of the worst he had seen and similar to the firestone problem. (tiresize: p245/75r16)( dot number: tire size: p245/75r16 ).
I was traveling east on the paved portion of nevada state roure 290 at about 50 mph. The left rear tire blew out. About a 10 inch long portion of the tire just shreded. When I took it to the local goodyear dealer he refused to make good on it. He claimed I had run over a curb or some other obstacle. I had never rubbed a curb, let alone hit one, or hit any other obstacle. I figured it was not worth the time and effort to contact the manufacturer. I know of two other people in carson city who have had the same problem with goodyear tires. Firestone has been racked over the coals. I tink it is time to, at least, investigate goodyear to see how safe their tires are. (dot number: unknown tiresize: p265/75r16).
The front drivers side tire blew out while driving 75 mph which caused damage the wheel and the front end of the vehicle.
