Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
We were driving down the highway and smelt smoke. We pulled over, I looked under the vehical and there was a fire near the gas tank. I tried to splash water on it but had no luck. Knowing the fire was near the gas tank we got away from the truck and called 911.
Tl the contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the band that held the fuel tank was rusted and fractured. The failure was repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 46,649.
