general problems of the 2000 Dodge Ram 1500

1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35, approaching a right turn and the front passenger wheel had suddenly locked without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and the mechanic stated that the anti lock braking system had failed because the after market batteries installed in the vehicle was leaking onto the abs control module connector and there was corrosion present from battery acid. The vehicle was not repaired and manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign 04v185000(service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available. Gb.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge 1500. While driving 40 mph, the air idle valve did not open and caused the vehicle to stall when the brakes were applied. The contact believes that there is a defect in the design of the vehicle. The air idle valve was installed backwards and should remain in the open position to allow air to enter and for the vehicle to properly close. The failure occurred on two occasions. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the valve, which was installed in the same manner. The repair lasted for a year, but the failure has recently resurfaced. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 100,000 and current mileage was 112,000.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2004

While braking pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
