While driving and operating the heater, unbeknowst to me leaves/pine needles had come in through the fresh air cowl vent and built up on the heater blower resistor resulting in a fire. This design in dangerous as the default for the air intake is open and allows debris to enter and drop directly into the fan and blower motor resistor. I've searched online and seen multiple reports of this issue. I have a video I can provide if contacted.
I'm worried that the air bag on passenger side is defective as the strangest noise is coming from behind the dash like a rubber band is tightening and then clicking on and off. Doesn't happen all the time. I've also had my truck in for the steering before and it has never been right. Now the hood will not shut right. It's always been a lemon. I fight to keep it on the road. It doesn't even have 36,000 miles on it. I'm wondering what recalls I've missed so I'm checking. Thank you.
Plastic dash I'd falling apart stuff falling off sharp objects not so sure dash isn't going to fall down around my feet and keep me from braking as needed.
The defective plastic dashboard on the 2001 Dodge ram broke into fragments and stuck the drivers right eye causing temporary blindness and loss of control to vehicle. This has been a long time well known safety issue for thousands of Dodge ram owners that nhsta still says is a "cosmetic issue" I almost killed my child do to your collusion with Chrysler deeming this a "cosmetic issue".
When I go to open the door the lights don't work , and the dashboard on my truck breaks into pieces I need a new one!!.
The dashboard on this vehicle has broken into many jagged pieces. This was not caused by myself or by the vehicle's age. It was caused by the use of faulty materials. If I were to get into accident, these jagged pieces could easily be projected into me. I have contacted the manufacturer three times about this and they refuse to fix their mistake.
My truck has 185000 miles on it and started sounding like the back brakes were grinding. On the way to the mechanic the back tires locked up and broke the drive shaft off. Lucky for me I was only going 40 miles an hour.
On Feb 28 2015 while moving my all of my belongings to a new residence my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 caught on fire destroying everything I own, there where no warning signs or recall notices sent to me.
Dash falling apart.
I was driving down the road when my hood came unlatched and folded up onto my windsheild breaking the hood springs.
Dash started chipping away several years ago but now it is literally going to fall in my lap. It is definitely a safety issue and should have been a recall. After doing research it sure is something that was a well known issue. This is a truck that I intend on keeping forever so it was an investment and I trusted the company but they didn't do a recall.
I purchased the 2001 Dodge ram new and it has been garage kept and has less than 70,000 miles. I was driving across a railroad crossing at the speed limit of 30 mph. This crossing is not rough. For lack of a better term the dash exploded. Pieces of the dash hit me in the face and pieces were all over the front seat. The dash is essentially gone now exposing the airbag module, electronics and sharp metals that should be 'under the dash'. This is dangerous and someone is going to get hurt, either from the dash failure causing them to loose control when it fails, the pieces causing a fire or because the sharp areas are exposed that could cause additional injuries in a crash.
The dash board is falling apart huge holes if in and accident air bags would blow pieces everywhere.
The dashboard is literally crumbling into sharp pointed shards and have been flying into myself and my passengers. The shards are very sharp and I'm afraid if a piece should flyinto my eye while driving it could cause an accident.
My 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 dashboard is a wreck its broken in little pieces and will fly to the front seat and the back seat and sometimes hits wife and the grandkids in the back seat. This really needs a recall because some could fly off and get in eyes and might have an accident. I hope and pray that the dashboard pieces dont hurt wife or grandkids or me. Please recall the dashboards so no more will get hurt or even killed. Tks.
2001 Dodge ram dashboard is an extreme safety hazard due to the cracking. I have owned this vehicle for 12 years and it's been garaged kept for 8 years. The dash started with a crack and then a hole was created when hitting a bump. Then I had a mechanic work on the heater, and the dash basically disintegrated when moving it. The holes on this dashboard are absurd. A review of safety information identified others who reported this problem to NHTSA and many more complaints on online message boards. This dashboard creates a safety issue for all personnel in the vehicle in case of an accident since projectiles (pieces of the dash that crumble) will fly. Also, there are other components under the dash that could create additional problems (ie-heater core spraying hot antifreeze after an accident). This is completely absurd. Keep in mind, my vehicle has less than 80k miles and the dash is getting worse.
The dashboard get destroy to easly and the debries flies to the face making drive insecure because the plastic parts were hiting the face. The powers train gets very easly damage by rocks and debris on the street making it to vulnerable to get destroy (and that happen to me) . The charging regulator gets brokes for nothing anytime and you need to be changing the computer or ading an external one and solder it to the principal cables that goes to the alternator, and relays.
Over the past couple of years my dashboard in my truck has gotten progressively worse, to the point where it is now in pieces. I am worried that other problems will start occurring because of the fragmenting of my dash and falling down inside the dash. The screws along the top of the dashboard are now only holding on little pieces of dash and are no longer serving in purpose to my knowledge. I have heard that this could lead to problems with the air bags suddenly deploying or not deploying at all. I am also concerned with the many other things that could happen as a safety issue for myself as well as my passengers. I know there are many other thing that go on inside the dash that could cause many problems if they fail.
The dashboard and the dashboard bezel have disintegrated and caved in, literally falling to pieces in chunks around me inside of the cab on this vehicle causing numerous problems, falling pieces from the dashboard have caused the accelerator to become jammed when pieces lodge in the operating system, electrical wiring has become exposed resulting in premature failures. The defroster vents have become dislocated because they are attached to the dashboard which for all intensive purposes no longer exists, thus they do not work properly causing lack of vision when the windshield fogs and is unable to be cleared of that fog at high speeds, the result is creating an extremely dangerous high speed situation. I do not understand what the problem is with Dodge these parts are very simple to install, there is no reason why Dodge cannot simply supply its customers with replacement parts and let us install them ourselves. These parts are all made of plastic and should cost no more than a few dollars to mfg. If Dodge were to supply these parts to all of the vehicle affected I seriously doubt that the cost would be more than 1m dollars and I would bet that the shipping would be more than the actual parts themselves.
The dashboard beginning to disintegrate. If a crash were to happen shards of plastic could be thrown at the passengers. Have heard incidents of falling shards of plastic affecting electrical such as lights.
I know that this is an older vehicle and the dash has been coming apart for years. Every time I close the doors or hit a bump, pieces of plastic fall out. Now the whole dash is loose and rattles. I looked at it and can see where the plastic around all the dash mounts is coming apart and making it exponentially worse. Like I said, I know its an older vehicle but it has been coming apart for years. Looking online I see that this is a very common issue for this model as well. My fear at this point is that in an accident, the entire dash assembly may shift or break free causing to airbags to not deploy correctly or in the wrong location or even project bit of the plastic dash into the driver or passenger when they deploy.
Several years after I bought my Dodge 1500 ram truck about 2008 the dash started falling apart and the blend door stoped working every Dodge dealer I took it to said there was nothing they could do.
Sliced my hand on broken area of dashboard.
The dashboards on Dodge trucks are clearly defective and a broken shard of the dash plastic lacerated my face when it came loose a flew through the cab of the truck from just normal wind turbulence with the winow open at freeway speed.
Dash has completely fell apart.
The dash has been cracking for years. It has now disintegrated into very small pieces. It has clogged up the air ducts. The small pieces have blown in my eyes, creating a driving safety hazard. Ample history and reporting of this matter has been filed. It is an extreme safety hazard. The responsibility is clearly a manufacturing defect.
2001 Dodge ram has a severely deteriorated dashboard. It has been this way since 2004. I am concerned that pieces of the cracked and damaged dashboard could become dangerous projectiles in the event of a crash with airbag deployment. The damaged pieces on the truck’s dashboard are very sharp, so they could cause serious injury if they broke loose and became a projectile in a crash. It is simply amazing that a recall has not been issued up to this date. We've waited so long for this to be resolved. A dangerous manufacturing flaw!.
