The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. While stopped at an intersection, the contact smelled a strong smell of gasoline coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was driven to his destination. Upon further investigation, he noticed a small hole in the fuel rail crossover tube. Gasoline was leaking down both sides of the fuel rail onto the motor next to the intake manifold. The contact feels that a fire could have occurred because fuel was leaking onto the hot engine. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and inspected by a technician, who determined that the fuel fail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the cost of $611. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that no compensation would be provided because the vehicle was no longer under warranty.
