I just bought this car with a smog certificate of less than 90 days ago from today and it caught on fire while I was driving it not even going over 55 miles an hour. I seen a potential recall that would cause a fire like that for the make and model of my vehicle but when I put my VIN in it says it wasn’t effected. To be clear my vehicle wasn’t leaking any fluids either.
This vehicle had last been started and driven 7 hrs prior and exploded in the driveway, caught the house on fire and nearly killed my son who was near the inside wall of the house. The engine blew and then the front tires. Three explosions in all before the fire department was able to stop the fire. Luckily they were only a mile away. This was an older but well running vehicle.
I was doing 65 on freeway when when my driveline and pinion bolt came off rear end in 1 piece and the rear tires locked up and I slid to a stop.
Was doing some regular maintenance on my truck climbed under my truck to do my oil change and a portion of my frame on the driver side about half way of the cab is rusted out. It was not like this bout 4 months ago when I did my last old change.
Heater vents control flap stoped funcining.
I have contacted the local dealer a number of times regarding NHTSA recall number17v-821. They state that there is still no fix for model year 2013 ram trucks. This is a significant safety issue.
A few years ago, while driving down a rural road, I saw a tire rolling behind my truck. I stopped to remove it from the road and it turned out to be my spare tire. . The cross brace that is connected to the support cable rusted and folded to allow the tire to drop free. I replaced the cross brace and added heavy duty straps to be a backup support so as to assure this incident would not happen again. Last month my friend's son was injured due to an accident involving what appears to be a pick-up truck spare tire lost on a state highway. The tire size and a rusted cross brace led the responding police officer to conclude that it came from a pick-up truck. Perhaps, pick up truck manufacturers should inspect and install a secondary/back up safety strap?.

Dash breaking up trying to get pieces of so they will not cause any injuries if in accident cut hand on sharp edges left now am scared of dash if I do get in accident what we'll happen when this shrapnel is flying around and propelled by air bag.
The rear end on my Ram 1500 hemi 1500 gear is making a humming sound constantly, it never stops. I called the dealer they no longer have the part and I can't find one, I was told there was a recall, but I never received one. Please help!!.
Rear end seized up and almost caused me to wreck with my 17 month old child.
Just bought this veicle second owner of said vehicle look it all over. Brought it to a. Dealer ship to have a state inspection performed and the frame crunched on the lift. Note the frame still had black paint on it from. Factory. The frame literally rotted from inside out. And it appears I am not the only on with this issue. This frame has not lasted anywhere near the life expectancy of the vehicle 20 yrs. And there are way older vehicle on the road that still are perfect. Toyota gets a frame recall but this Dodge won't and I do not understand why this is so. This is a problem considering it's rotting from the inside out. I see frames braking while driving this is a major safety issue that should be addressed.
While driving down the interstate my 03 Dodge 1500 started making a whining noise. We pulled over and check the rear end fluid. It was fine. Got back on the highway and it was still whinning. Made it about 50 miles do that and my truck shuts of. No power at all. I put it in natural and got it started and got off on an exit. It barely had power to move. Pulled into a motel and power picked up. I was 265 miles from home. I had to have myk truck towed the 265 miles not knowing the problem and awaited to drive it any :* that. Got home my husband replaced the bearings and seals in the rear end. Well that didn't fix it. As we had the cover off the punkin of the rear end we found a broken piece in the bottom. A friend told me it was a part of the opinion gear. I don't know but a new rear end cost 2500. 00 if not more. A used one costs 350. 00 to 800. 00. I'm stuck and don't know what to do. . I love my truck but I can't afford the rear end and I have to have a way to work.
Vehicle cuts off while driving can on highway or while turning, many others has same complaint online. Very dangerous no vehicle on the highway should have this problem.
While vehicle is moving there is a whining noise from the rear of vehicle. I've had several mechanics audibly check for noise. They all said the same thing, "it's your rear differential". I've searched for recalls and have found non. I've found close to 100 complaints about this issue. I have gone on several Dodge forums and have found quite a number of same problem. Some respondents have said their "VIN" produced a recall on this issue. I too would like the same consideration. This is for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 slt quad cab 4x4 5. 7l 6ft bed now with 160,000 miles. All maintenance done at said factory intervals.
My wiper motors work but stop half way in the window and I replaced them with new ones and it does the same thing ? this is a big issue up here in wny as alot of Dodge rams you see on the road have their wipers stuck half way reducing their site to drive!.
Ignition issue** I was driving home from work going about 35mph and hit a small bump in the road and then I felt somthing hit my leg, I pulled over to find out the key had fallen out of the ingition and onto the floor " . This is a big problem as their is no way to turn of the truck once the key falls out. This needs to be recalled and new improved ingnition switch so the key cant be removed when truck is running!!.
Takata inflator recall. Nothing has happened. When I recieved the notice in the spring of 2015, I went to the local Dodge dealer to get on some kind of "list". They looked at the recall notice, told me they would take my name and phone number and call me when they had parts. I did expect some wait time due to the number of vehicles affected, but I have had no contact from anyone since that time. Now I have another notification; I'm not inclined to waste my time going to this dealer again. I expect them to contact me.
Dash has just fallen apart shards are all over the place. Ac re circulation door has broken off so can not divert flow from vents to defrost so I can not defog the inside of my windshield. The ac quit getting power do to ignition wires getting hot in connection.
The rear seat in the 2003 Dodge ram quad cab does not have head restraints. I'm concerned that in an accident my children that sit back there can be injured. The back glass is right behind the seat and their heads world hit the glass causing brain damage, spinal cord injuries and possibly death. I've called Dodge and they were not helpful. The 2004 models have rear head restraints.
Vehicle jumped as if something was struck but nothing was, and started to whine within the rear differential.
My dashboard is falling apart, sometimes bits of plastic come out of the vents,im not sure if this can damage elactrical components ,but my hvac is already acting up ,ive called Dodge and they say its cosmetic , but if iget hit with plastic wile im driveing it could be interesting to say the least.
While reverse parking at approximately 10 mph; the accelerator stuck to bottom of vehicle floor (sending vehicle to speed exceeding 70 mph) and it accelerated out of control. In an attempt to stop and avoid hitting pedestrians and building behind me; I hit the brakes, but the brakes would not stop the vehicle. I was forced to place the vehicle in park shift position while hitting brake, in order to stop vehicle. At first the shift control stopped in 'd' and the vehicle shot forward, but I kept hitting the brakes. And eventually; I managed to get it in the park position and it stopped the vehicle.
My wife, kids and mother in law were driving north in miami heading to fort lauderdale the truck made a loud whining noise and then suddenly the rear wheels locked up and there was a huge bang and smoke rose from the rear of the truck. The aluminum driveshaft was split in 2 and there was oil all over the underside of the truck and on the ground. The truck would not roll at all and a flat bed needed to be used to bring the truck back to potamkin planet Dodge. The mechanic that did the tear down on the rear axel said he initially thought it could be rebuilt but I was contacted later and I was told that it was so frozen they couldn't free up the gears, I had to buy a new axel. The rebuilt replacement axel cost me $4334. 01. The reason I'm now sending this in is because I just saw the recall notice that went out for the 2004 and up trucks and when I read the descriptions from the people that had submitted all of the complaints I realized how similar everyone's story was and that my situation may not have been just dumb luck due to a simple mechanical failure. The mechanics that worked on my truck were not surprised at all and made it seem like this is a pretty common failure on these trucks and I didn't even think at the time that it may have been a manufacturing or assembly defect. If my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 axel had the same lot number or series serial number or came from the same factory then this recall should be expanded further back to cover all impacted parties. I owned the truck since it was brand new and it was not used as a work truck or any tough duty truck, it was our daily driving truck and I still own it today. I take care of my vehicles and people don't believe the truck is 12 years old when I tell them.
I purchased a used 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 last week. While driving to work yesterday I accelerated and the truck would not stop. It continued to accelerate at speeds above 70 mph and I stomped on the brake, but it didn't slow the truck down at all. The gas pedal was on the floor, so I stomped on it as hard as I could and then it seemed to release and raise back up to normal position. Luckily it was 0445 in the morning and there was nobody else on the road.
Have done research online and found out that this is a major problem in Dodge ram trucks, 1500, 2500 and 3500. This is a severe problem and could cause the whole electrical system to go out while driving these trucks. This has been documented in posts online. These trucks should be recalled before a serious accidents happens with the owners of these trucks. This is my college student son's truck and I am very concerned for his safety in this truck. These models should definitely be recalled by Dodge and the dashboards replaced at no cost.
The dash board has finally fallen apart after years of trying to keep it together. The obd connection has never worked fuse is good and several different scanners but no communication.
Paint corrosion on the hood and top of cab, doors and had I had engine failure at 70,000 plus and at 107,000.

During the first year we bought the truck it had to be towed in to the shop because it would lose power and just "turn off" and could not be started about 6 times. After the truck was returned to us after one of these episodes, we had hooked up our camper to leave for the weekend, went into the house for some more stuff, and noticed that the gas tank had fallen off the truck and was sitting in the driveway under the truck. So much for camping that weekend and another tow to the dealer. We also purchased an extended "bumper-to-bumper 100,000 mile, 5 year warranty that covered rust. I brought the truck into the dealer to show them the rust around the rear wheel wells and lower body in the 4th year into the warranty and they said they made a record of it and would take care of it. They put if off with promises after numerous calls and trips to the dealer until the dealership sold to another party and the warranty had expired (years, not miles). The body is rotten, the passenger front window was never fixed, and it still occasionally stalls. I'm told that the stalling and body problems are engineering defects, and internet searches confirm this.
The reason the owners of these Dodges is that the dealers break the already brittle dash boards and refuse to repair or replace the dashboard. So most wont have the recall performed. So until the dealers are forced to repair/replace the brittle dashes when they perform these recalls then people will not have it addressed. Also I have owned my Dodge since October 2022. Truck is registered with Dodge on the website and yet to receive a recall notice in the mail. Now if I go and look it shows the recall on my truck but many do not register their vehicles with the manufacturers website. All in all the expensive dashboards being broke by dealerships performing the recall is why owners wont go thru it. Many have paid thousands in getting the dashes fixed. Also id think brittle dashboards that turn sharp daggers would be a safety hazard as well but yet no recall. My dash is missing huge pieces. Leaving sharp jagged edges that will be knives in an accident. I mean if the dashes bust just by replacing an airbag inflator or just sun exposure. Imagine being in an accident.
