2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2022

I recently figured out a problem with my truck that is an extreme danger. When you fill up the fuel tank at any gas station, it seems that the fuel enters the vapor canister and makes the engine stall for about a mile before it starts running properly. After several close encounters after filling the tank, I looked upon other threads of Dodge ram owners and found this to be a common problem that was never addressed by Chrysler and never acted upon by nhta. Please look into this and advise a course of action to have Chrysler repair this problem. . It is a matter of time before either I or another with the same problem are seriously injured or killed due to this defect. Many thanks in advance!!.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2020

We were driving on the highway 55 mph and heard a noise while exiting and we thought we hit a large hole. Before we reached the end of the off ramp traveling at approximately 50 mph but giving the truck some gas to accelerate we heard a very loud pop and it felt like something hit the bottom of the truck. We pulled off to side and checked under the truck to see the slip yolk and u joint of the driveline were broken and the flange nut on rear end was backed off and the rear end was shattered. Also the fuel vapor recovery lines were broke from the slip yolk and u joint breaking. Is this issue related to recall number 14v79600.

Engine stalls at all speeds on an interstate while going 75 mph with no control of steering due to lost of power steering or brakes. Sometimes it will restart of sometimes it doesn't right away but after about thirty minutes it will restart. This is also true of parking lots and city streets. With no codes or engine check light to refer to.

Sometimes when driving the vehicle rpms rev and down the a light on dash comes on. The light symbol looks like a lighting bolt with two lines one in each side of lighting bolt. Switch truck off and restart the light goes off and truck runs fine. It might not do it again a day or sometimes a week or so.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Takata recall. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I am having issue finding mopar-oem bell crank part# 53032456 ae. If you go to the dealer in elk grove CA, they are on back order 270. Or on the morpar website they are on back order too. When driving the vehicle the truck has ( ) with a lighting volt. You loose all power and the truck stays at high idle about 1800 rpms. Difficult braking when this happens. The transmission shutters.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Every time I get gas I pull out on to the road and it goes dead after about 30 seconds it'll crank back up . . Has just about gotten me killed several times.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2016

The truck stalls at stops and turns after fuel fill up.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2015

A whining sound started coming from somewhere on the vehicle approx 30 min before the rear end exploded locking the vehicle up and causing the drive shaft to fly across two lanes of heavy holiday traffic. Thank the lord no one was injured or accident was caused due to this failure of a loose pinion nut on the drive shaft. I had it towed to the closest dealership who said it will cost over 4500 dollars not including car rental to get it repaired, the dealer said they contacted the mfg. And they said it was not under the recall. This is a serious and dangerous problem. This vehicle has been dealer maintained since new and should not have experienced this issue without a recall or warning.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

When braking, the vehicle engine stalls as I slow down. The issue was intermittent, but now happens each time I break. I have to pull over with no power steering and restart the vehicle in p or n. Sometimes, I have to wait a few minutes before it will let me restart.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2014

Truck lost all power, throttle lamp blinking. Stalled on roadway, would start but would not give throttle to move the truck. Turned key off then back on a few times and would let me apply throttle for a few seconds, then back to no power. I did this a few times just to get off the roadway. There is no throttle cable so it is a computer control problem.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Stalls at every stop after re fueling.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 5. 7l hemi 2wd and it continues to stall every now and then at low speeds or at a complete stop. Vehicle will start right up with no problem but battery gauge takes a few seconds to rise to operating levels. Transmission also feels like it wants to slip at time of stall. Had engine and trans changed, battery and alternator checked out okay as well. Did some research and found that a lot of incidents happen after vehicle transmission ha been serviced or transmission fluid is low; other individuals who have experienced this problem have said they had the erg valve, tps sensor, map sensor and even software. I don't know what the problem is but you end up spending hundreds of dollars trying to figure this out. I don't know why Chrysler doesn't address this issue.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

Dodge 1500 stalls at slowing down. Same problem as reported in multiple postings here. Very dangerous situation.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

First it was fuel light coming on then the engine light started coming on. Got that off then the blown light started coming on change all blown fuses and lights but light wouldn't go out and engine light came back on. Paid to fixed after 1 year it started up all over again.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

In the fall of last year the check engine light came on in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The code that came up was misfire in cylinder 8. I took it to a mechanic and they said it was the fuel injector which they replaced. A few days later after getting my truck back the light came on again. This time the code was misfire in cylinder 6. I took it to a very trusted mechanic who stated it was a rocker arm that had come off due to junk in the engine. Once it was fixed again the light came on saying misfire in cylinder 8. The mechanic said it was the rocker arm on that cylinder and replaced it. This happened 4 more times in the next month. The mechanic, who is very reputable, believes this is a manufacturing defect that will continue to occur no matter how often it is repaired. He also stated he has seen this in many many Dodge trucks and most notably in the 474 engine. It is an engine and safety issue due to loss of throtle which occurs very often when the problem is on going and is definite risk of causing an auto accident. This code is coming up every other day now and I believe it needs to be recalled.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2012

While driving my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 while turning at approx 5 miles per hour the car stalled out this has now happened on various occasions. There is no code and several repair shops don t have a clue what to fix and just want to start replacing parts.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2012

I bought an 04 Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi that had around 80k miles on it when I bought it in oct 2010. It was awesome the first and a half I had it, only minor repairs I. E battery, idler pulley, ignition switch. I did regular maintenance on it as well as oil changes. In late March 2012 I went to put gas in my truck and it would not let me put more than 10 or 15 cents in before it would "back fill" I was trying to figure out what the problem could be with that, then in early April 2012 I was driving home after running some errands, the truck had run great all day just like normal, but about 8 miles from house I hear this "thunk" and I have no power and I had this awful shaking and rattling noise. There were not even any warning lights telling we that there was something wrong, I called someone to tow it home that night. I did thankfully have another car to drive. In the months since I have been slowly tearing the engine apart with my dad, this week we finally pulled the heads and discovered that my # 6 piston was completely disintegrated and had punched a hole in my block! my original thought was that this was just a random fluke and it was just mine, but after reading on some Dodge forums I see that it was not just mine! this is ridiculous for an engine that has no more miles than this and had been properly maintained. My parents have a 1999 Ford f150 that has almost 300k on it and has not been maintained nearly as well. . . Read more...
