The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph in reverse, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate. The vehicle would become unresponsive to braking attempts and the contact would engage the parking brake in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer and they advised him that the throttle body had become jammed and caused the unintended acceleration failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was approximately 54,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact attempted to shift into the park position and when the brake pedal was engaged, there was an unintended acceleration which resulted in the vehicle crashing into a building. The vehicle sustained moderate front end damages and was towed to the dealer. The technician informed that the diagnostic codes detected a problem; however, he was unable to determine the cause of the failure. A police report was filed. There were no injuries.
