1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2025

Several safety-critical systems on my vehicle are failing, and the symptoms match existing recalls shown on kelley blue book for my VIN. However, the manufacturer (Dodge/stellantis) shows only 4 recalls, all marked completed — despite ongoing issues. 1. Abs / brake system: the abs warning light is on continuously, indicating a malfunction in the abs control module. This disables anti-lock braking, increasing the risk of skidding or loss of control during emergency stops. Kbb shows a recall for this issue, but Dodge says it’s either not open for my VIN or already completed. The abs light has remained on since 2. Front wheel bearing: there is a grinding noise and vibration from the front wheel area, suggesting a worn or failing wheel bearing. This poses a risk of steering loss or wheel detachment. No warning lights have appeared for this issue. 3. Transfer case / 4wd: the 4wd system intermittently fails to engage or disengage, sometimes with clunking noises or jerking. This can cause unpredictable handling or loss of traction. Issue is still ongoing. 4. Electrical system: intermittent electrical issues include random warning messages, dimming lights, and occasional no-starts. These affect essential safety systems and match known electrical recalls. These issues have not been confirmed by a dealer but are ongoing and present serious safety risks. I believe my vehicle may have been incorrectly excluded from applicable recalls or that prior recall work was not properly completed. These components are available for inspection.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2023

I was adjusting the steering wheel and the power completely shuts off. I had no steering power.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2023

Unknown turn signals fail to work.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2022

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate after the vehicle was idling, the vehicle inadvertently stalled without warning. The failure occurred intermittently and became more frequent. The vehicle was lunging forward while idling and was shifting hard while driving. The contact stated that the coil pack relay might have malfunctioned. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the main fuse box under the hood had exposed fuses and the box was easily accessible. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic and the fuel pump was replaced. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

Truck started rumbling that sounded like when you go over rumble strips on the freeway if I replace the rear end and it's still doing it. The second thing is the transfer case has some kind of short in it that no one can figure out driving down the road it locks in lights out periodically so I had to disengage it so it wouldn't do that so I can drive it it would also go into neutral just randomly I was driving uphill when it happened and I had to replace the transmission that cost me $4,200 which I thought would fix the problem but it did not.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2019

The tipm needs to be replaced. The air condition is cycling because of the problem with the tipm.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

Dodge is aware of this issue. They have updated the part and there are many customer paid repairs. The control box for the heating and a/c system is defective and breaks at the blend door. When this happens, the blend door no longer works and it disables the defroster and a/c. On cool or cold days, the windshield can suddenly fog up and there is no way to clear the view as air does not blow in that direction. On hot days, the system can not push air out enough to keep the driver from excessive heat. The part number is 68004226ac. This part has been supersession chain of about 4 other numbers as Dodge corrected design flaws over the years. I would also note that because this involved a/c and heating, many people do not notify NHTSA of the concern, but it is very well documented and known. It is a very common problem that causes driving issues without being reported.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

Head light switch will not turn lights on an off, does not matter if stationary or in motion.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2018

Turn signals stopped working. Got a notice several years ago but the were fine then, not now. Apparently the x42 multifunction switch has now gone bad. I have 105,000 miles on truck which is still within the mileage range for coverage. Would like Dodge to replace this part at no charge for me it is a major safety issue.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that there was a premature failure with the cruise control feature activating or not functioning properly. There was also unintended movement while the vehicle was in gear. The failure occurred when the vehicle was in reverse and the brake pedal was depressed to pull into a parking space. The contact was unable to determine if there was an electrical failure that activated the cruise control, causing the vehicle to lunge and accelerate at a high rate of speed. Force was applied to the brake pedal when the failure happened. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who checked for dtc, but was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. There was no repair recommendation from the independent mechanic. Additionally, a brake light switch was replaced by the independent mechanic. The dealer (whitten brothers of ashland, 11409 washington hwy, ashland, va 23005, (804) 798-6071) was also unable to determine the cause of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v795000 (electrical system) and 06v038000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer issued six tsbs for the electrical system and was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I'm always having issues with the airbag light coming on while driving it goes away then come back when there is a sudden move and causes something to trigger. Also, I'm having issues with my headlight low mode not working I did a lot of research stating that many people are having the same issue and the problems have to do with the fuse box close to the battery. I'm also having an issue with the brake lamp going off on my dashboard not sure what that could be tried so many repairs and nothing seems to work.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Has an electrical short making the emergency brake light go on and off and a few other electrical things.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

The dash cluster started with the rpm guage stopped working at about 90,000 miles and now all of it is maxed out full gauges on the whole dash clucter and the speed odomiter still moves but is not correst its about 20mph off. I cant remember but I believe I was driving and noticed the rpm gauge first and weeks later I noticed all the other gauges.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the abs warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The contact also stated that the rpm gauge remained at zero. The vehicle was taken to autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram katy (21777 katy fwy, katy, TX 77450, (281) 715-6920), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,480.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2016

At first the wipers would stop randomly (while driving in a rainstorm) but I would fiddle with the switch and they would normally come back on. In the last week they basically quit working altogether other than a random stroke here or there. I replaced the wiper/signal control switch on the steering column yesterday thinking it must be worn out. To no avail, the wipers are not working and after researching on the internet, I find that it is a very common problem. People are replacing parts, spending money at service centers and not getting the problem solved. I live in the rainy northwest and I can tell you that it is a big safety issue not being able to see in front of you while navigating I-5 at 70mph at some random point during a trip. This problem started over a year ago but was always a momentary thing and would resolve itself, but it is now a permanent problem and I wish I knew what part replacement would resolve it.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2015

2006 Dodge Ram 1500. Vehicle would shut down while driving. Engine would crank but not turn over. Mechanic had to tear into engine to find the problem. Rods bent, valve sticking, timing chain jump. Basically the engine was shot. Repair cost $3,000. 00. It appears that a lot of other people have the same problem and it cannot be diagnosed without tearing into the engine. Also turn signal would blink opposite of where turning. Dodge needs to do something about this. These are safety issues! I would like to be reimbursed my costs. Mileage on vehicle: 158,000. Interesting enough, I have a 2001 Dodge ram that has over 307,000 miles on it and never had this problem.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

Tl-takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags) and stated that the part needed for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experience a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Aw.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving onto the driveway and while depressing the clutch the vehicle suddenly surged forward and crashed into the garage door. No injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The contact indicated that the recall notice for NHTSA recall campaign number 14v795000 (electrical system)was received in April 2015 and the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 145,000. Jft.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2015

My truck has been having safety issues over time. Most recently having over-heating issues and engine problems since February 2018. The electrical issues happened since last year, dashboard no longer lights up. My one of my front head lights no longer lights up. Ive changed it several times and it still goes out. My driver seat beat no longer buckles.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

After owning a Dodge 1500 2006 mega cab for 4 years had to replace the multi function switch it stopped working had no wipers high beams or signals. 5 years later have the same thing happen seems like an on going problem with these switches. When the don't work make it a safety issue due to no wipers, signals, or high beams. . .

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 14v795000 (electrical system) had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The dealer stated that the parts were not available for repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the delay. The contact had not experienced the failure. Pam.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2014

We went for a drive to medora nd. Where we spent the night and after we left to return home on hwy 94 when I was pulled over by a state highway patrol. The officer said I hadn't turned my signal on. I told her that I had and while she getting my information I was checking out my signals they would work and then they wouldn't then I turned on the left signal and the right would come on when it turned the right the right worked fine. I turned the four way flasher the left signal would come on. Weird. When the officer came back to the truck I told her there is something wrong with my signals. She said that I should take in and have it checked out. So I am now waiting to get it into the Dodge dealership. They are really messed up nothing works as it should. I have noticed after doing a search that many Dodge pickups have the same issue. I hope this will help encourage a recall for this vehicle.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

It started with the rear passenger window not working, then the locks, then all the windows. They work intermittently however it's becoming more of an issue than not. My truck goes through lamps quickly I replace a headlight at least 2 times a year and several reverse lights over the last 2 years. Most recently I noticed the integrated controls on the steering wheel don't t work or work inappropriately. I can no longer turn my radio off with the push of a button. As of last week the interior lights shut off abruptly and don't work with one of my doors. It appears it is just getting worse and worse.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2014

The vehicle is shuttering under braking and while applying directional inputs. All tire pressures are 35psi and are in good shape without cupping. While braking at speeds above 40mph the vehicle will shudder violently. The steering shudders while applying slight directional control.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2013

The passenger side headlight does not turn on even after replacement when the headlight switch is in the on position. Dealer has determined that the fault is the tipm (totally integrated power module). Per dealer mfg no longer produces the tipm unit. Per dealer aftermarket no longer manufactures part either. Dealer suggests wrecking yard, however part is a computer based product that still must be reprogrammed by dealer after replacement. This is a safety issue with lighting, and the passenger side headlight will not function without this unit being replaced.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

I was driving on highway 64 e near williamsburg speed limit on the highway is 70 mph which is the speed limit at which truck turned off on its own. No hard idling, no check engine light came on just turned off on its own. Power steering was lost along with the brakes and could not control the truck. Had to let it go as it until I impacted in a ditch causing the tire to come off the wheel well, damage to the undercarriage and front driver side bumper. The truck is not safe to drive due to it shutting off and now steers to the left. After some research all Dodge rams 2006-2011 have experienced this issue but Dodge has not done anything to rectify the problem. This is highly dangerous as it could of resulted in the loss of life if it wasn't because of the amount of soft mulch that braced my impact. I am in the military serving active duty and have come home deployment after deployment and to have it all end because of a faulty vehicle.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

Wire harness in rear driver side door was found completely severed inside boot from frame to door. Effects window, door locks, dome light operation, and speaker. Presence of voltage can cause fire if aching occurs.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2013

Will driving on the highway the truck completely shut off and died. I was not able to safely menuver the to the road and was almost rearended by the vehicle behind me. I had to get out of the truck and push it across 2 lanes of traffic to get it off the road. After further investigation I found that the tipm in 2006 Dodge trucks are bad. There has been no recall to date and this is an extreme safety liablility. This is the first Dodge I have owned and I just purchased the vehicle 3 weeks ago. I will never own another Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle as long as live. I have researched on the internet through multiple blogs and found that very many people have experianced the same issue some not as fortunate as me and were actually involved in bad car accidents do to this same problem.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2012

I was driving on interstate 90 when my truck suddenly shut down for no reason. No check engine lights, just a total loss of power and the steering locked up. I was able to restart it by throwing it into neutral, but it would not restart in park. This has been happening off and on, and no mechanics can seem to figure it out since it doesn't happen all the time. I'm scared to drive it. I have been on Dodgeforum. Com, and there are many Dodge models/years suffering this problem, but no recall has been issued. This is a major safety issue and I don't know what to do to get it fixed (nor do I have the money to keep taking it in again and again). It "codes out" as an electrical/computer issue of unknown origin that no one has yet been able to fix, despite replaced valves, relays, etc.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Dodge issued an "extended" warranty for the signal really in the steering column. They stated it could break. It really malfunctions- one signaling left it could/would change from signaling left to signaling right. They are aware of this - when I tried to get mine fixed they said that they truck would need to show the malfunction for them to honor the warranty. I feel this should be a recall do to faulty signals (safety issue) I spoke to corporate and they felt the issue was addressed.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2012

Right low beam fails to light. Bulb has been replaced. Socket is good. Failure is in tipm. Appears to be a common problem in 06 to 08 Dodge trucks. Dealer charge $750 to $900 to replace and reprogram tipm unit. This is an extravagant charge for an item that should last the life of the vehicle.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the turn signal and the four wheel drive stopped working on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and told the total integrated power module failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that this failure could also make the vehicle not turn on. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 43,000. Rl.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2012

The turn signal on the vehicle began activating the wrong signal. At times the signal will not work at all. At other times it signals the opposite direction I am attempting to turn. The signal switch also controls my high beams and windshield wipers. Both of these are also affected at times by the problem. I am very concerned anyone of these issues could cause a serious accident.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2011

While sitting at a red light turned on the left blinker and after a few seconds the blinker switched to blinking for the right both inside in the dash and outside at the front and rear and the indicator switch was still in the left turn position very dangerous has happened several time since date shown.
