Tire Sidewall problems of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Three problems related to tire sidewall have been reported for the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

I was driving on a straight , asphalt paved road when the right rear tire suddenly failed. There was no prior indication of any problems with the tire. I had the car in to the dealer about 7 days before and their checklist shows the tires and inflation were ok. My speed at the time was about 40mph. I have a photo of the tire. The tire failed completely on both sides of the tire where the sidewall meets the tread.

2 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle has grumman allied long life tires. The contact stated that four ply tires are not strong enough to tow or be used with four wheel drive. While driving 65 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out. The contact went to have the tire replaced and was informed that it was a light duty tire. The front driver side tire has a crack on the sidewall, facing the rim. All four tires were replaced, but the dealer stated that they were not covered under warranty. The tire size and dot number were unknown. The current mileage was 23,926 and failure mileage was 23,885.

3 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle has michelin ltx a/s, size lt265/70r17 tires. While driving 70 mph, the passenger side rear tire blew out and destroyed the sidewall. The contact returned the tire to an inspection station and was informed that it failed due to a manufacturer defect. He notified michelin of the failure, but they refused to speak to him and would not replace the tire. The current and failure mileages were 3,321.
