1 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2010

Atm shifting into reverse on it's own at speed of 60mph or greater. 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 53,806 miles. While driving vehicle on highway at 65 mph, vehicle shifts atm itself abruptly into reverse for split second, causing tires to briefly lockup, then shifts itself back into drive. No codes registered/captured by onboard computer. Dealership technician determined cause by driving vehicle on highway above 60mph with code reader connected and was able to duplicate reverse shifting and retrieved code. Code (1577) detecting atm reverse solenoid shifting into reverse. Dealership replaced valve body assembly in transmission. Costs for the repair was $950. 00 dollars covered by my extended warranty policy with a $50. 00 dollar out of pocket (deductible). **fortunately for my wife and I the incident occurred in dry conditions. Had this occurred while driving in wet conditions I'm certain the vehicle would have lost control and an accident occurred, possibly involving others. **.
