When filling gas at the pump, it shuts off constently. During this process, I am spilling gas on the ground while trying to deal with getting my tank filled. I had the gas fill line replacement done a few years ago and solved this very same problem, but the problem has returned. I have read in Dodge forums of this happening to other owners and sounds like there may be an oem solution to replace the gas fill line vent tube. I have checked with my dealer and oem website, but there has not been anything done about this from the oem.
After filling up with fuel on serval different occasions the truck will shut off with no warning lights or service lights. This causes the power steering and everything to stop. When at a stop sign it can be started safely from park or neutral but when moving it has to be put in neutral to re start because the brake system does not work good either. It has happened at stop sign and stop light as well as driving down the road at 55 mph.
I have 332,683 miles on my Dodge Ram 1500 my catalistic converter went I cannot get it inspected I thought they were to last the lifetime of the truck? can you help I think that this is a record for a gasoline engine still runs great except for this problem if you can help I thank you (xxxx) redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. The truck stalls after filling with fuel. It can happen at any time; stalled in a turn causing the loss of power steering; stalled at stops; causes bucking. At no other time does the truck have these issues. I have heard of other having this issue with this model and others such as Jeep, etc. Regarding the "when did this happen?" question below, it happens at 95+% of fill-ups. The last time it happened was 6/1/19.
Engine shuts off after every fill up at the gas station if vehicle is placed in a moderately hard stop or making a right hand turn on a freeway on ramp or city street causing the engine to shut off completely and leaving vehicle in motion without power to steering and brakes. This has happened more time than I can remember.
Having issue with truck stalling out right after fueling vehicle. This happens with out any warning. Several times it has happened while turning, twice going down a hill and multiple time when coming to a fast or even a slow stop or turning. This happens everytime after refueling up the vehicle to full. The engine just quits on the highway with a loss of steering and braking. I've almost been in several wrecks do to these problems. When this happens, steering and brakes are lost creating an extremely hazardous condition and could end in a collision. This also happens when making turns or maneuvering through traffic.
Having issue with truck stalling out right after fueling vehicle. This happens with out any warning. Several times it has happened while turning, twice going down a hill and once so far while sitting at a stop sign. This happens once a week right after fueling up the vehicle. I have been researching this issue online and it seems that many owners have been experiencing this issue. Many have spent over $2000 dollars in repairs at the dealer and still have the issue. Many also report this problem of the engine cutting out while in heavy traffic and crossing traffic. Some have reported being on the highway and the engine cutting out at 70 mph. This is becoming a major concern as I use this vehicle for towing my travel trailer with my family. This is a serious condition and from what I have read Dodge is not doing anything but charging people and not fixing the issue.
While filling up with gas it spills out. Only way to fill it up is to it very very slowly a little at a time. It went from filling up normal then all of the sudden it won't do right. The last 4 times I've put gas in it.
I have reported this same problem numerous times before. The engine just quits on the highway with a loss of steering and braking. It seems to happen after refueling and a strong odor of fuel is noticed. This happened within 2 or 3 minutes after refueling and while approaching interstate 35 in waco, TX, on 11/30/2018. An inquiry was made to the local dealership who said they were unaware of the problem and that no complaints have been filed with them. In reviewing other consumer websites that is not true, there are numerous complaints about this same problem and it is definitely a critical safety issue. It is time for the government to investigate this issue before someone is killed or seriously injured.
Timp failure.
Tie rod assembly.
After I refuel, whether it's 10 gal. Or top it off, the truck will stall everytime as I drive just the first several miles(maybe as soon as 100 yards or up to 10-12 miles or so). It only happens when I come to a stop, like at a red light or at low speed making a turn. It always starts back up, not always easily though. Of course when this happens, power brakes and power steering is lost. This has put me in a couple of dangerous situations while making a turn and suddenly lose power steering. After it's stalled several (4-5) times, it seems to recover until I refuel again and we start all over. This is definitely a major safety issue and a recall needs to happen to finally fix this recurring problem that has been happening for some time now. I purchased this vehicle new and didn't have a problem for the first 40,000 or so miles. It now has 65,000 miles and this problem re-occurs with every single refuel.
Engine stalls under braking just after refueling vehicle, this problem continues until several gallons of fuel are used. Power steering and braking is lost due to engine stalling. This happens on any road surface at any speed. Engine will restart sometimes after several attempts.
Vehicle stalls after a gas fill-up. I start my truck after filling up at the pump. Pull out of the station, go a little ways down the road, stop at a stoplight. Sit at idle for maybe 30 seconds & the truck dies. The truck only does this after fillups. No check engine. No codes. Looks like there are a lot of people complaining about the same thing. This has been happening constantly after every fill up. The truck runs fine afterwards.
After you fuel up the the vehicle will shortly stall several times afterwards. Leaving you with no power steering. I am concerned about the safety of myself and others. This is happened to me many times on public roads and even highways. I would have almost crashed if I had not noticed that I had lost power steering. I have also heard complaints from other people who say the same about there Dodge pickup of similar year. I feel like this should be a big concern, and I should be doing more to fix this problem.
The truck has developed a habit of randomly stalling when coming to a stop. This is dangerous at intersections and railroad crossings. I have had the truck back to the dealer several times without success.
Got up one morning and started up my truck heard a ticking sound, upon investigation found that a bolt had broken on the driver's side manifold.
On my 2008dodge Ram 1500 I did the recall for the fuel neck twice and still had problem with it then started to working right. Then just last week start having problem with again on 10/17/2015 when I fill up . The gas start to come backup and take 20 min to 1/2 half hour to fill my truck and did it again 10/23/2015.
I've been a Dodge truck on her for years when I want another vehicle but I have concerns reference my 2008 Dodge with the steering problem I drive the interstate every day I don't feel safe so what door need to do the truck is parked right now.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. When refueling the vehicle, the fuel spilled out. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the fuel filler tube needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
Driving in heavy traffic the engine stopped. I coasted to the roadside and restarted after sitting about 15 minutes. This has happened about 5 times since then. I took it to an auto mechanic who could find nothing after 1 hour of road testing and truck engine computer readouts.
I was just notified for a problem with my air bag. I had another recall about my gas filler tube, repaired by Dodge. I was not notified about any of the front suspension recalls or problems with the wheel bearing. This part failed about two years ago and I had it replaced but never received a recall. I still have the original wheel bearing part that was given me at replacement. What is going on? is my front end going to fail while my family is driving it? I only have 89,000 miles on my truck. I would like an answer.
When the vehicle is filled completely with fuel, the engine will die when the vehicle is slowed down to stop of turn.
When the vehicle is being refueled at a gas station, it will not automatically shut the gas pump off. It will spill gas all over the truck and pavement. It will do this every time, unless we carefully monitor and estimate how much gas it needs to be full and stop it before it reaches that point. This seems to be a common issue among this year model of trucks. We purchased this vehicle as used and the first time we filled up we had this issue. Dodge told us $87 to evaluate issue and an additional $500 to fix it - in the same phone call. They know the issue, they are having issues with it in other rams but they refuse to do anything to resolve an ongoing issue.
When filling up my truck gas overflows everytime. I have to manually slow it down when approaching my estimated fill point. The gas pump does not shut off like it does on other vehicles. My dad has the same truck and it does it also.
Every time the vehicle is fueled, it overfills and spills fuel down the side of the truck and on the ground. Happens every time. This is a huge safety issue.
Gas spills out of filler tube when filling up,pumps kicks off but gas always spills out.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that when refueling, the shut-off valve failed and caused gasoline to overflow from the filler neck. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 400. Kmj.
