36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

V-8 hemi quad cab. Problem was also reported to dealership at earlier (unknown) date while under warranty but problem went away at dealership. With car parked, driver side door-mounted lock will not operate door lock to lock when trying to leave car. These incidents occur intermittently maybe once every 1 to 2 months. When approaching parked car and using the remote to unlock electric door locks, it required 5-10 tries on keyfob. So bad one time, actual key had to be used to unlock driver's door.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

I was driving in heavy rush hour traffic at 55 mph when my left front tire rapidly went flat do to the tpms valve stem failure causing me to take evasive action in order to avoid a multi vehicle collision. This driving on a flat tire caused extensive side wall damage to my new tire with only 6000 miles on it, $233. 00 to replace it low cost to avoid a major accident.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2015

Recall supposedly repaired on pinion nut in 2013. While driving in July 2015 rear end started grinding and became scary to drive. Took immediately to the dealership 7/16/15. The repair includes seal drive pinion, bright kit drive pinion, drive puli on bearing and spacer, brg kit differential etc. The dealership never informed us of the recall or buyback. I question the future safety of the vehicle.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

Fuel tank can fall free from vehicle due to rust out undercarriage fuel tank strap mount. Vehicle is 5 years old and the frame is rusting out to the point the fuel tank strap cannot be reattached. Was told by the dealer that there is nothing they could do and given a number to contact corporate. Talked to several people at corporate and was told my vehicle had too many miles on it and was out of warranty. Truck is otherwise in good condition, but is a safety hazard because the fuel tank can fall off truck at any given time. Also tie rod broke on me and had to have truck towed to dealer, was told it was due to wear and tear from normal driving, had to pay for replacement of both right and left tie rods and now seeing that there was a recall on them. Will never again buy and Chrysler product, company does not stand behind their product.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2015

I was driving my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 with my family on rt 280 east doing about 65mph when tire valve/sensor popped off of rim and almost lost control of vehcile. The nut that holds the valve/sensor seperated from each other. There are plenty of complaints on the internet of such a safety issue. Called Dodge to file a complaint several weeks ago and nothing was done ! paid $450. To replace all 4 valve/sensor just so I can feel safe in my truck. When I looked at new valves they had been redesigned with a rubber stem instead of aluminum that corrodes. Obviously they had problems and modified them without contacting vehicle owners! this should be a safety recall!.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2015

Vehicle will not shift out of park for up to 90 seconds. It happens randomly, and when it does decided to shift the break peddle may or may not be pushed.

42 Equipment problem

The contact that vehicle was placed into neutral and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was diagnosed and the dealer mechanic stated that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The failure continues to recur intermittently. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000. Am.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

My 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 is making a banging sound behind the glove box. I have had this issue before since it was an heat blend door actuator that went out. The dealership fixed it once and now its back again. Is this going to be an on going issue each year and the part needs to be replaced. I was quoted almost "$750" in just labor fees to get it changed out. I dont think this is an issue on my end since the part appears to last for a year. I will continue to monitor the a/c and check with other Dodge ram forums on how others had this solved.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

There is a banging noise that seems to be coming from behind the glove box. I researched it online and think it's a heat blend door actuator that went out. I was quoted over $500 for the repair due to the complexity of getting to the issue through the dashbaord. A while back there was a recall on some part of the ac/heating but I cannot remember what is was for. I called their hotline and was advised that recalls are active for 10 years from the manufacture date, so in my case, through 2019. . Read more...

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

2009 Dodge Ram 1500. When the vehicle was started, a ticking noise was heard from the exhaust manifold. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that both sides of the engine block hinges were fractured and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 80000.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2014

Defrosters stopped working in cold weather makeing truck undrivable.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2014

I turned off vehicle and the ac started clicking. Its the switch that controls where the airflow is directed. It will only blow out at the floor, regardless of what it is set on.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2014

The hvac actuator gear has malfunctioned, it will only make a ticking noise whenever I turn the truck on or off. I am not able to feel any air from the defrost of upper air vents.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2014

There was a recall (n08) on 09 Dodge rams because the pinion nut comes out and causes the drive shaft to fall off. I was not informed of this recall. The drive shaft fell off of my truck, snapped in half, and got lodged in my rear axel. This resulted in loss of control of my vehicle and nearly caused an accident. I contacted the Chrysler group and was told that even though it was a recall, I had to pay out of my own pocket to have it towed to a dealership. I was also told on 7/29/2014 that they won't repair a recall, because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. The service technician at the dealership confirmed that the incident occurred because of the n08 recall, but Chrysler denied to have it fixed.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2014

My husband was taking our family to get school supplies when we heard a noise, I seen something come from under the truck ( he was only going 35mph) in the passenger mirror and I told him to pull over. Upon doing so he was having a hard time with the brakes but he managed to pull the truck into a parking lot. Upon examining his truck we seen that the drive shaft was split in half, his muffler was broken off and the drive shaft was stuck in-between my back brakes. He called Chrysler after looking up repairs and found out that there was a recall on his truck for this very problem with the bolt coming out. He spoke with a woman named helen (would not give her last name nor ext number) and she told him to have his truck towed to the dealership which he did. Today he is getting the go around and is being told that he had to pay for something that falls on the manufacturer. The general manger told him that the woman helen did not file it as a recall that it was a warranty issue. I don't understand why she did that and why they are acting like this. He did not receive anything in the mail about a recall on his truck. We later found out that what he paid for out of pocket for electrical was also a recall. No one has done an authorization to fix his truck nor have answers. My family could have been killed and others could have been killed of injured due these parts coming off his truck. I would like for my husband to get his truck fixed and be compensated for what he has paid for (towing, rental, and electrical work). If we have to go to news outlets to make sure this does not happen to any other family and to prevent someone from being killed and injured we will. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the way they are handling my husband. He already fought in the war and he don't need this stress. The recall number is n08.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

We had a rain storm and my sun roof leaked very badly, it went thru the inside into the padding then ran down into the mirror to the g. P. S. Into all of the electrical stuff on the dash. This has happened twice. I brought it into Dodge and they pressure tested it and it wouldn`t leak. I did buy the lifetime warranty on the truck and if this continues I believe Dodge should pay for damages done to the interior. (they say they would not cover the roof padding if it needs replaced. (I think it`s a malfunction in the sunroof, so therefore it should be covered) I love my Dodge (and so does everyone else. ) but if this happens again I really believe for what I spent on this truck and all of the money I spent on the warranty should be honored) it does have all the extra bell`s and whistles! sincerely sandy black.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2014

While driving on I-95 the front driver side tire blew out. The next day at the Dodge dealer ship the cause was diagnosed as a failed tire pressure sensor valve. The tires had only 20k miles on them and were under warranty. The dealer said cause was not the tire. Dealer stated the tire stem valve failed and the entire stem and sensor collapsed into tire causing a failure.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 affected by the k17 recall for parts cdea1k171aa (reprogramming) and cdj1k172aa (recirculation door). The second is a actuator for the recirculation door. This recall was completed on 12/22/2010. In Jan and again in Mar 2014 two more actuator doors went out due to an electrical issue with the actuator. First, part number 68089742aa, for the blend door and secondly, part number 68089742aa, for the foot actuator and the defrost. The gears were stripped on both doors and the vehicle made a loud thumping from under the dash. Both were replaced at my cost. There are four actuator doors in this model ram truck. This is far past coincidental that "actuators" are defective in this truck, but the recall only replaced one when the recall clearly states "actuators", plural. The first I replaced in Jan. Caused me not to be able to see out the front window from ice and fog. The second in Mar. Disabled the a/c and heater usage completely. There is a problem with the actuators installed on this vehicle and they need to be replaced by the auto maker at their cost. In the Chrysler recall, k17, it states that "if there are mode door actuators that need replacing, up to 4 additional hours may be required". The recall states plural actuator doors. I have submitted a claim to Chrysler and they state that the actuators I replaced were not a part of the recall, even though there are four in this vehicle and three of the four have gone bad.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2014

On 23 Jan 14 I took my vehicle (2009 Dodge Ram 1500) to the dealership (san antonio Dodge_chrysler_jeep_ram), because it was making a loud knocking and popping noise under the dash whenever the key was turned off. The dealership diagnosed the problem as "mode door actuators defrost blend and recirculation broken" and made the repair by removing and replacing the actuators. On 6 Feb 15 I took my vehicle to the dealership because the hvac control head module was unresponsive; air would blow only from the lower floor vents, nothing from the mid-level or defrost vents. The dealership states that it would be 3 to 4 days and cost $100. 00 for them to look at it. . I took the vehicle to firestone; they diagnosed the problem, printed out the recalls and service bulletins pertaining to the problem and charged me $44. 05 for their trouble. This was the first I had heard of the "customer satisfaction notification k17 and the safety recall j12”. I called Chrysler and told them that the issue I was having is the same as those addressed in the notification and recall. They replied that I’d have to take the vehicle to the dealership for that determination to be made. On 9 Feb 15 I took my vehicle back to the dealership they made the repair which was to “replace a/c control panel and program panel and actuators to work properly”. This is the exact repair called for in the j12 safety recall; they just changed the name from hvac control head module to a/c control panel. After the repairs were completed and paid for, I submitted a claim to Chrysler for reimbursement referencing both the” k17 notification” and the “j12 recall”. They denied the claim stating that the recalls had already been performed sometime in 2010 at a cost of $22. 00 and $47. 00 during some other routine service. The service repair cost on the two occasions I took my vehicle to the dealer was $585. 00 and $444. 10.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

Received important safety recall notice in October/November 2013. Recall directed to contact local Dodge dealer starting January 6, 2014. We have contacted local Dodge dealer 3 or 4 times this year and keep receiving the same answer. They say they have parts ordered and they are working on vehicles in the order in which they arrive. It has been over a year now and our recall issue is not corrected. The recall problem the left tie rod ball stud on the truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. This issue has not yet happened, but we have been unable to correct the problem, and it could still happen. This incident is submitted November 24, 2014.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

After driving the truck at normal speeds when coming to stops it will stall out on you have to put in neutral and restart this has almost caused me to get it from behind and head on crashes and also with my kids and wife driving very worried to let her drive it.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Heater stopped working , the bend doors are broken , no heat or defrost .

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

I keep getting recall notices since June about rear axle pinion nut, I have called Dodge dealer several times to schedule the service for the replacement. They do not have the part or don't know when the part will be there. When will they get part ???!!!! I don't want to get in wreck or ruin truck if part fails!!!!.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Our 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 is experiencing issues with the tipm (totally integrated power module). The vehicle starts intermittently and will/could stop running/shutdown at any time. We have had the truck serviced only to find that this particular part is about $650-800 to replace plus labor. The issue not only could be dangerous if the vehicle does not start but if it dies while operating. After extensive research it was discovered that this issue is not only a large issue in Dodge ram, but also in numerous other Chrysler vehicles. Some have experienced issues such as windshield wipers, the horn blowing, lights turning on and off randomly while driving. Even after removing the key and shutting down the engine, the issues would not shut off. The wipers can and have decided to not work, which could lead to a real hazard when driving in the rain. The check engine light comes on sporadically, as does the air bag light. Not knowing if the air bag will even function in an accident. There is an enormous backorder on the tipm due to the high volume of vehicles requiring replacement. I was told "unofficially" by a service rep that the reason for the backlog is also due to Chrysler changing the manufacturer and in turn, increasing the price of the part. This needs to be replaced at the cost of Chrysler, not the owner. This is a safety issue and needs to be recalled immediately! any help you can provide would be more than appreciated.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2013

When is our local dealer going to get the recall part-pinion nut?????? this is ridiculous! lives are on the line!!!!.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

When going from two wheel drive to 4 wheel drive the steering becomes impossible. When the 4 wheel drive does engage truck pulls heavy to the left. When disengaging the 4 heel drive steering once again becomes impossible. Then a loud popping noise can be heard and the steering is still impossible. This happens 75% of the time.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

I received safety recall n08/NHTSA 13v-038 approximately 4 months ago. To date, the manufacturer has not provided the dealer with the proper part (rear axle pinion nut) to correct the problem. I have been advised that failure of this part could cause a crash without warning.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

While traveling at a speed of 35 mph, noticed I had a flat tire. Pulled over to change it and I noticed that the valve stem was missing. When I took the tire back to the place I purchased them (less that one year) they informed me of the problem that Chrysler is having with defective parts in the tpms. Had to replace tire and valve stem. Was told by my Dodge dealer that at this time there is no recall on the defective parts.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2013

My truck is subject to Chrysler safety recall h08. In January I received a recall letter but parts have not been made available to fix this problem for six months. Chrysler customer relations will not say that it is safe for me to drive my vehicle. I think Chrysler is stalling. Whatever the government can do to help us consumers would be appreciated.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

Driving on interstate tire valve stem and pressure monitor blew out of tire when nut broke causing immediate flat. Vehicle went out of control and almost went into ditch.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2013

While driving in a moderate rain, water began leaking into the back seat on my daughter. I do not have a sunroof. It appears to be leaking into the cab of the truck via the two roof seams where they meet the rear windshield. I have read other complaints online that indicate it could be faulty seals on the roof seams, third brake light seal (creating a hazard of shorting out the light), or the seal of the rear windshield.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

Airbags failed to go off after collision with a farm implement being pulled by a farm tractor. Dodge vehicle has damage to frame, passenger side and front of vehicle.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

I was driving the 2009 Dodge ram that I purchased in July 2010. While driving on the highway on I-20w in georgia, the drive shaft fell off. The whole drive shaft fell off. Luckily no one got hurt. The cars behind me had to stop. The ram quickly lost speed, and I had to pull to the side of the highway. The tow truck driver told me that I was lucky the truck did not flip over. A bunch of fluids came out of where the drive shaft was supposed to be. When the tow truck driver tried to attach the ram to his truck it was noticed that the rear tires locked up. He said the differential locked up. I have checked some Dodge online forums, and this seems to be a common enough problem that it needs to be addressed.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The front bumper on my 2009 Dodge ram trx/4/offroad is rusting it is a painted bumper not chrome I contacted the dealer who took pictures and sent them to Dodge they inturn said it is not covered. After receiving a recall notice for the rear pinion nut I decided to research recalls on my Dodge ram and found that there is a recall on the chrome bumpers for this year and feel that my bumper should be included in the recall because as it was sold to me with the trx/4/offroad package it should have more protection then the chrome bumper even thou it was painted it should of been chipguarded or a vinal covered.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

I own a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 . The truck came equiped with origional Dodge running boards. Within 4 weeks of owning the truck the running boards began to wobble and make excessive noise when driving. The dealers only resolution was to continue to tighten them. Now 1 1/2 years later the running boards fell off. All the metal around where the bolt holes used to be fractured to the point of failure. The holes left are now the size of quaters. When the factory rep came down to see this his only answer was they would refund the cost of the running boards . No offer to repair or even to extend the rustproofing warranty. My daughter was almost seriously hurt by this . I know this is not the only truck this happened to . The dealer refused to refund the money unless I sighned a hold harmless . I refused!is this what we pay 40 grand for ? I have made numerous complaints to the dealer prior to this happening. What if this fell off while driving ?whos fault would this have been then?what if it killed someone? the metal this is bolting to is too thin to support this constant abuse.
