Ignition Module problems of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Two problems related to ignition module have been reported for the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While attempting to start the vehicle, the engine would not start, the shifter would not move, and the key would not release from the ignition switch. After removing the key from the ignition switch, the key was still in the ignition message displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the win module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

2 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2014

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that key fob became trapped in the ignition and caused the automatic lock system to fail. The contact had to lock the doors manually and disconnect the battery to shut the electrical system down. The dealer performed a diagnostic which located the failure at the ignition module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number 10v200000 (electrical system). The failure and current mileage was 58,551.
