1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2025

I was driving to work on [xxx] when my rear end locked up and I slid sideways down [xxx]. I was going slower than normal due to slippery road conditions. The mechanic told me it was the pinion nut that froze up and locked up the gears and snapped the drive shaft. If it had been clear roads the truck probably would have flipped over. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was driving home christmas day 2014. Truck just shut off in middle of road and came to a rest. I did manage to restart it and when I did I received all kinds of error lights. Then truck shut down again. Had it towed to garage and mechanic determined it was a bad fuel pump. Now all the warning lights stay on and will not reset. Serv 4wd light. Trac control light. Reverse assistance sensors are inoperative. The fuel cap light. Abs light. Two tpms lights. Eps system light. Cruise control does not work. . . . And truck constantly shuts off while driving. I have replaced abs sensor and fuel cap but to no avail. Please help.

Failure Date: 10/18/2014

Upon starting vehicle I heard some type of gear grinding/knocking, sometimes it happens when I turn the key off too. Along with this I noticed I had no heating control which kept me from DE fogging my wind shield or having heat in general. Could be a big issue if the windows were iced over. Has happened randomly over the last several weeks and I have finally disconnected the blend door actuator located behind the glove compartment. Will contact dealership.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Took the truck in to replace a headlight bulb and was told the tpim/onboard computer needs to be replaced. This could be dangerous I found out as the computer could shut down the vehicle while it's being driven which happened to my wife in the truck 2 years ago. We were told at the time we needed a new battery.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2014

My 2010 Dodge 1500 truck stalled on my wife almost getting her in a wreck, she pulled it over and put it in park and it started right up. Took it into the Dodge dealership and they said it was the computer chip and fixed it. Two days later wife was driving it again and it stalled. I drove it and it did it to me when I was entering on a two lane highway it stalled and I almost got hit by a semi, pulled it over and put it in park and it started up. Brought back to Dodge and they told me it was the spark plugs. They replaced them at $225 at my cost and said it was fixed. Two days later the truck stalled on my wife again. She is scared to drive the truck now because she doesn't want to get into and accident with kids . Brought back to Dodge and talked to the manager about the safety of the truck. They told us that they needed to replace the tipm module at $1400 dollars. It's been about a month and a half and now after replacing the tipm it is still stalling. Went down to the Dodge dealership and all they said was that there still looking at the electrical problem. All I want is my truck back fixed and to drive it safely. .

The defrost on my 2010 Ram 1500 p/u is covered under recall k-17 that reprograms the hvac software and tests that all the actuators which direct heat and airflow are working. I contacted Dodge recall and confirmed the recall # and applicability to my truck. I was told by the recall specialist that the truck had the completed recall but that it could be completed twice under the recall. I am the second owner of the truck. I was told I had to take the truck to the deal where the recall was accomplished. Chyrsler could not tell me which dealer di the recall, I contacted several dealerships trying to get the hvac actuator for the defrost scheduled for repair. I cited that w/o defrost driving is dangerous and as fall is coming I would like to schedule an appointment. I received estimates between 1 /12 hrs labor to 7 hrs. I am concerned that chyrsler recall specialist provide false information and cannot get a dalership to complete recall repairs. I also have a rear pinion nut recall and received the same feedback to call a dealership and schedule an appointment and I am pushed out 2-3 weeks without a commitment the repair will be no charge. This complaint is to highlight the poor customer service and recall resolution car customers endure, and the decisions to park the vehicle or repair it, and fight for reimbursement. The auto companies are not required or do not resolve recalls to the satisfaction of the customer the vehicle owner. Please help me understand what my rights are and what I can demand from Chrysler or its dealerships.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2014

I took my vehicle to fowler Dodge in oklahoma city to have a recall performed. (rear axle pinion nut-n08/NHTSA) I dropped my vehicle off at 9:30 a. M. And informed the service tech, geff huff, that I needed my vehicle back before the end of the day because it was my only mode of transportation. After waiting 8 hours I demanded a loaner so that I could have transportation while my truck was being serviced. I had also requested an oil change. When I arrived back at the dealer to speak with a manager about a loaner I was told that it would only be another half an hour. At about 5:00 p. M. I was told my truck was ready. When I asked geff if the inside of the axle looked okay he replied that they didn't inspect the inside because they thought they would have the truck overnight and that they only put a retainer on the nut so that I could have my truck back. The dealer then updated the database to reflect that the recall had been completed.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2014

On March 22, 2014 my wife stepped on the driver's side nerf bar to enter the truck. Before she could enter the nerf bar pulled completely out of the body of the vehicle and fell to the ground. I immediately took the truck to a dealer for inspection and possible repair. I was informed that the factory would not cover the repair unless there was rust or corrosion on the body. I called Chrysler and the representative told me the same thing. I tried to file with my insurance, but they refused coverage because it was a factory defect. I was able to find a shop to repair the problem. They had to special order six reinforced plates with rivnuts to repair both sides because the passenger side was pulling out of the metal as well. The total cost came to $519. 83. The shop said this was a Dodge ram specific problem that they had seen before.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

We have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with approximately 32000 miles the hvac actuator gears on our vehicle are broken. I have found that there was a recall for this very thing for 2010 Dodge ram trucks. However when I called Chrysler I was told my VIN # was not included in this recall. Because it was manufactured at a different plant. The cost of this repair is approximately $1000. 00 I have a letter that was sent to the affected owners it was marked notification code k17 it is titled: reprogram hvac control head and inspect/replace actuators.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

I'm filing a complaint as to how some dealers are not taking the recall seriously that was issued for the Dodge ram trucks. The dealership in particular was hayes Chrysler in duluth GA. The service representative ([xxx]) was rude and put the repair off for an additional month from today's date. If the recall is serious enough to be issued then the dealerships should make an effort to take care of the safety issue in a timely manner and at least show some professionalism, rather than showing the customer they don't want or care to complete the work. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I can not understand why it is taking so long to get this recall fixed on my truck. I have been calling every since they mailed it to me. I am always told so sorry we are still trying to get the parts shipped out to the dealers. Oh we do not know what is taking so long, OH yes we will call you when the parts are ready. Well this recall has been going on for quite some time now and I do not understand why they are so far behind. It says my rear axil can freeze up and cause a major accident. . . So if this is true then why do they not have the parts after this long? there has been no problem with the truck yet but then I do not drive it very far since it may lock up the rear end and cause me or my family to be hurt. . . Along with someone else in their car!!!! I call my local dealer and I get the same crap for an answer. . . . .

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while she attempted to hitch a trailer and discovered that the receiving hitch bold was fractured. The contact replaced the hitch bold and the bolt did not secure the area causing the bolt hole to expand. The hitch had to be welded to the vehicle but the trailer moved while hauling and the welding may fracture. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2013

While I was driving on a highway, I heard a terrible sound out of the rear of my ram truck. I tried to stop my vehicle as soon as I could while the sound kept on getting even more terrible. When I stopped and looked at the bottom of the vehicle, the driveshaft fell off from the rear of the vehicle and oil spilled on road. There was no warning or no engine light signal in the vehicle electronics before or after this happened. Has the vehicle been on a freeway with a speedlimit of 100 km/hr or so, I think it would have been really tough to control the vehicle in this break-down and it could have resulted in a fatal accident. The vehicle was not in a position to be driven further and I had to get it towed to a nearest Chrysler dealership in coquitlam, british columbia, canada. It has been days now and I have not yet heard back from Chrysler dealership that what is the cause of this problem and what will be done to fix this issue. On checking with dealership, they say that they have no solution to this problem till now. Luckily, my vehicle is still inside the warranty period and so the dealership says that the cost to repair will be covered, but thay have no fixed timeline on how soon they can fix it. I tried reaching out to Chrysler and filed a complaint about this, but the response from Chrysler is not very helpful and they are not at all worried about my sufferings and loss that I am currently facing due to this vehicle not being available/ready for my use yet.

15 Equipment problem

The part recall was a gasket for the axle. The recall letter came to me on Nov. 12/2012 and was told to talk to the dealership, but no action just the runaround game, called the Chrysler number provided by dealer, and the same thing, now it's June 2013 called again, but was told they did not manufactured the part yet. So, the 4-wheel power drive light comes on as a warning to service the 4-wheel drive, I believe it has something to do with the recall part for the vehicle, doge Ram 1500-2010. I want to buy american vehicle because I want to support the motor vehicle industries of the united states, and to keep americans job in our factory's, but to get something done for a recall, after seven months, this will be my last american product I will ever purchase, and da hell with all the american workers, first they send out a letter, and then the runaround. What a bunch of bull.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that he received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 13v038000 (power train) however, the parts were not available. The contact mentioned that he received the notification over 10 months ago and still was unable to have the vehicle repaired due to unavailability of the necessary parts. I was notified by mail in December that there was a recall on my truck a 2010 Dodge ram. They stated that the real axle pinion nut(recall number m34)was installed without an adhesive pad. Dodge stated that the result of this could result in total seizure of the rear axle or loss of acceleration at any time. I have a new born baby and they said there is nothing I can do but drive around and hope nothing happens to me and my famil. I have called 10 times. I was to,d the parts would be available in January then March then April. Still no parts what can I do to not have to worry about driving my unsafe truck. Pleas assist me thanks kristopher jones.
