Eight problems related to equipment have been reported for the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The ram ecodiesel 3. 0l truck had a check engine light that came on while driving, showing a p20ee error, requiring the replacement of the diesel exhaust selective catalytic reduction (scr) at under 27,000mi the dealership I dealt with was great in getting it fixed, but I am concerned the new exhaust scr that was installed won't last the life of the vehicle if the first one only lasted a little over 26,000mi unless they made a change and/or updated the part that was installed on my truck. I'm hoping the replaced part was updated by ram and the cause of this error corrected, but I have not been given this information at this time.
Windshield glare reflection from dash compromises visibility when driving in sunlight. Sunlight reflects off dash causing glare in windshield. Many people have complained (forums online) this has been going on for years and occurs in many vehicles. Auto manufactures need to put extremely non-reflective material on dashes to counter this. A dull dash mat really helps, proving that it can be mitigated.
2014 Dodge Ram 1500 factory goodyear tires blow out during interstate driving in hershey PA model oem goodyear wrangler 275/60r20 I was getting into I-83 at speed of 45mph when I heard a sound. And just down the road in I-83 when I was at speed of 60mph the tire sensor came up showing psi <17. These tires were rotated around 5k miles and nitrogen gas used. If I was driving at the speed of the traffic (>70mph) when the tire blow out took place it would have caused a major road accident. After it was taken for repair it showed a lateral blow out of the tire.
This incident was with a rental 2014 Dodge ram pickup truck rented from enterprise rental car in san angelo, TX. Rental agreement # 8ys2zj. Model b15q (enterprise model #)texas tag number djl605. I was driving late evening on Wednesday night on a solid paved road surface called socha loop north of san angelo, TX. In the described vehicle. I was familiar with the road working since Monday Nov. 24,2014 at same work site. I had just entered the vehicle and had only traveled less than one mile returning to my hotel. I had reached for my seat belt about 100 yards before approaching curve. As I was slowing to about 25 mph on a 35 mph un-posted reaching for the seatbelt over my left shoulder while moving. Myself wanting it the seat belt fastened I twisted to my left. Doing this body twist reaching for seat belt my right knee bumped the newly designed key and caused the key to move. The vehicle engine shut off. The lights although necessary while night, switched off. Entering the curve was difficult as steering was possible but required more torque to steer. I always learned that 99. 9% of roads maintain their radius throughout. This was helpful as I had the interior light on just reaching for seat belt prior to the approaching curve so when the lights failed and the cab illuminated I lost all vision to the outside. There were no other cars on the rural road and I was able to coast thru the curve to a safe stop on the level apron of socha loop. I hope you will add my incident to help others. Truck stalled so far 2 times, once at a light second time going around a corner. After that the check engine light came on and the dealership looked at the truck and said that they could not replicate the problem and to bring it back in if the check engine light comes on again. I also have noticed a propane smell. Only 6100 miles on the truck. Autozone ran a computer diagnostic and it showed that the 7th cylinder was miss firing.
Initially, the vehicle had an abnormally strong new car smell. (the smell has now been widely reported on internet forums by other owners. ) I thought this would dissipate over time. The smell was so strong that I had to leave the windows open while driving due to a nauseating odor. After sitting in the vehicle, occupants could actually taste some type of residue. In addition, a foul odor came from the heating system, especially at idle. After two months of ownership, and frustration, I took the vehicle to the dealership (although I had mentioned the strong odor before during a follow-up call). The dealership flushed the cooling system and replaced the hoses because of a technical service document. The document stated there was a chemical reaction between a new type of coolant and the interior lining of coolant hoses. Unfortunately, this procedure did not eliminate the foul smell experienced while driving. I noticed the odor was strongest once the engine warmed, so it took longer to surface during cold temperatures. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they said I should call the manufacturer. My initial call was placed over a month ago. An additional coolant system flush was performed, but yielded no results. I have been sent to different divisions within Chrysler, and have mostly experienced frustrating delays and inaccurate data entry. I've visited the dealership a total of four times, and spent hours on the phone with the manufacturer regarding this problem. It seems the odor is being pulled in from the engine bay. The best way to describe the odor is as some type of chemical finish or residue entering the cabin. My vehicle is for family use. I feel extremely uncomfortable in the vehicle because of the actual odor and potential health risks.
Horrible odor in the cab, which caused my wife, my two teenage daughters, and myself to all have at least one form of the following, vomiting, nausea, headache, burning eyes and throat. Apparently this is a known issue to the manufacturer, as there is something called a star case. I can't drive the vehicle at this time, as I have no idea if this odor can cause a permanent health problem, not to mention it is bizarre that a brand new vehicle would have a problem like this.
I noticed that when I started my truck after it had been cold for a while that blue/white smoke would briefly come out of the tailpipe. I noticed it several times and took it to the dealership who said they couldn't find anything. It still did it intermittently. I then noticed that my oil level was low, and the oil pressure sensor went out. I had the oil pressure sensor replaced under warranty and added oil. Based on the excessive oil consumption, smoke, and oil pressure sensor going bad, I think there's something wrong with the engine. All my problems have been oil related!.
