Truck stalls every time I start slowing down for a stop sign or red light and sometimes when I turn corners. When idling it shuts off immediately unless I throttle to keep rpms up. Also stalls when I put it in reverse. I've been almost hit several times when pulling into an intersection. Replaced all known causes and nothing has fixed the issue. I have read in some sites I may need a software update from Dodge dealership.
I noticed the vehicle making a humming/rubbing sound coming from the rear end when moving 20-35mph and coming to a stop. I parked the vehicle until I was able to get it to the dealership, so the technician could test drive and locate the problem. Upon his initial leaving he heard nothing so he proceeded to pick up the speed to 55mph to check for vibration in a neutral coast down. Upon reaching 45mph the drive-shaft completely snapped and separated from the rear end assembly, resulting in the rear end completely locking up and sending the truck spinning out of control and the drive shaft swinging violently underneath the truck until the truck came to rest in the middle of the road. Upon further inspection when the truck was towed back to the dealership the technician noticed the rack and pinion assembly completely unthreaded itself from the driveshaft resulting in a catastrophic failure of the rear end. As a result it completely destroyed the gears and components within the rear end housing including deep gashes into the housing itself rendering it unsafe to re-build on. The dealership has since ordered a whole new rear end assembly to be purchased and placed on the truck and currently waiting on parts as I write this letter.
Cut my hand on a crack in the dashboard. Dodge is not standing behind its product, they have defective dashboards and will not replace them.
While driving my 2009 ram at approximately 35mph, the low tire pressure light lit up, indicating a problem. Before I had time to pull to the side of the road (keep in mind I was only moving at 35mph), the left rear tire went completely flat. Upon inspection of the flat tire, I discovered that the valve stem was missing. After taking the tire to my local mechanic, we learned that the aluminum nut on the valve stem apparently failed and caused the valve stem to fall into the inside of the tire, thus allowing the tire to go flat, virtually instantly. While purchasing a replacement tps (tire pressure sensing) valve at napa, I was told by the employees there, that they have seen multiple problems with this design, caused by the corrosion of the nut due to the salt used on highways here in central new york, during the winter months. About two weeks after this event, I had the truck into the dealership for an oil change. I asked them to replace the remaining 3 valve stems under factory warranty because I believe it's a matter of time before they fail also. The service manager told me they found only one additional valve that appeared to have a "cracked" nut. They replaced only that valve. (by the way. . The new valve design is all rubber. No more alum nut). I rotated the tires to place the potential "time bomb" valves on the rear, in order to prevent a loss of steering when these valves fail, and they will. It's just a matter of time. I only hope the tires don't go flat while I'm travelling at 65 mph. After doing an internet search, I learned that there are multiple reports of this problem. There should be a recall on the metal valves. I'm going to contact Chrysler (Dodge) to file a complaint.
The truck was parked when the first crack occurred. Left side of glove box on top. New crack appeared yesterday. Based on the amount of failures people have experienced researching the internet, this must be a manufacturer defect. They only want 3000. 00 dollars to fix with no monetary assistance.
My blinker lever does not work properly. When I use the left turn signal it started to blink to the right. Throughout the rest of the day it would do this intermittently. I was going down a heavy traffic area and used my left turn signal. A car two lanes over slightly behind me starting honking their horn at me because it was attempting to go one lane over to the right. We both tried to go into the middle lane at the same time and I initially thought it was the other driver's fault. I looked at my blinker lever and I did have it in the correct position for a left signal. I then looked at my light display for the blinker and it was flashing to the right. My wife told me about this happening before without me in the vehicle but this I finally got to experience it myself. If it wasnt for my awareness and the other vehicle honking their horn, then we would have collided. Ever since that day I experienced it myself, I have noticed it happening more frequently now. Sometimes I use the blinker lever and I get no turn signal at all anymore except for pressing the lever harder down or up. I am now more concerned about correct turn signals coming from the lever and it takes away from my situational awareness while driving.
I was driving down the road and the lsd rear differential of my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 completely locked up and the drive line separated from the rear differential. The shop that fixed it said that a retaining clip must have come loose and destroyed the entire rear differential. Good thing I was only going about 25 mph in a residential neighborhood and not 75mph on the freeway, or the outcome could have been life threatening.

On 1/9/2012 as I was getting something out of the passenger side of the cab, I noticed a crack in the dashboard. This crack was not there the day before. It is approximatly 6" long, just to the left of the glove box on the top of the dash.
The dash on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has cracked to the point that there is barely any left. I feel this is a safety issue because the broken pieces could fly at someone and cause serious injuries. Also upon impact the dash could have further pieces break off and cause damage.
My dashboard was cracked when I bought it, and this week an entire piece fell in and now slides around under the dash. I have read online from other people that this can cause electrical problems, including headlight failure. The plastic is also very sharp. A recall is necessary because this could be dangerous.
Vent door broke causing air to only come out of the defrost vents with no air on the floor vents. When floor vents are selected on control switch air blows out defrost vents.
Soon after purchase I noticed cracks appearing in the trucks upper dash, soon the cracks grew more numerous and they started to connect creating complete holes or missing chunks of dash plastic leaving knife like sharp pointed edges. This leaves anyone in the vheicle at risk of a laceration or worse if a collision were to occur and a chunk of plastic became airborne and in contact with vital areas of the body or the body were to impact the dash directly where the pointed edges are. Also the missing peices are dropping into the dash electronics and vents creating a possible mechanical problem.
My Ram 1500 inexplicably caught fire and burned to the ground after sitting outside for approximately 12 hours. The vehicle was locked, as were the bed cover, the tailgate, and the ram boxes. There was nothing in the bed or ramboxes. We were alerted to the fire at around 6 am by 1) an explosion and 2) neighbor alert. When we went outside the truck's bed was engulfed in fire, and the fire looked to be from underneath and coming up around the bed. The explosion was either the spare tire or the gas tank. Within 10 minutes the entire truck was engulfed, and competely burned/melted, etc. , within 25 or so minutes when the fire dept. Finally arrived to put it out. The fire marshal declared that the cause could not be determined, as did the insurance company's lab after they examined the vehicle due to the extensive damage. We live in a gated, video monitored small community and review of the tapes showed no strange activity. There is no history of criminal activity in this area, and certainly no arson. The ground surrounding the truck was wet (it was parked on a concrete parking space) as the sprinklers had recently run (grass, shrubs). Really not sure if there is an issue with the ram, but given that arson also seems very unlikely I thought we should document this in case there are other events.
Dashboard cracked around speaker grill. Then another, now 5 cracks one by glove box that is sharp and has cut me twice. I understand that this is a continuing problem with Dodge trucks from model years 1998-2006. Shameful!!!!!!.
Check engine light is on. Strong smell of gas when vehicle is shut off. Vehicle stalls at slow speeds. Can't tell the engine quit as the rpms bottom out and engine dies. Very dangerous for driving. No control after the engine stops. This happened twice today. First time was in traffic in a town at a stop light. Couldn't restart the engine for awhile and couldn't get the truck out of traffic. Second time slowed to turn around in a driveway entrance and backed up when I came to a stop to shift to d the engine stalled and I didn't know it. My truck was at an angle crossing 2 lanes of taffic. Luckily, I was able to get it restarted. I googled the problem and it seems to be very common and dangerous with limited success on finding a repair solution.
The volume of air coming from my defroster is inadequate to keep the windshield clear from fog and frost. I have read several on line articles about this problem and it seems quite a few people are having the same issue. I live in California and could only imagine how someone living in a colder climate is dealing with this problem. This definitely can cause an unsafe condition by hampering your vision while driving.
For some reason my truck just stalls out when making a right hand turn or left hand turn or if you slow below 5 mph and try to turn the engine just shuts down and Dodge acts like its just me. I feel this is a accident waiting to happen lets take care of the issue before someone dies. I paid 35,000 dollars for this truck and it shouldn't be a lemon even if the tranny has been rebuilt 3 times already. But there is something going on and Dodge needs to fix it at there cost not ours.
Dash board has cracked and pieces are falling into the electrical unit and ac units underneath the dash area. Afraid airbag will be damaged as they are not protected with the dash missing. Ac unit on passanger side is damaged and not working due to the condenser housing unit being exposed. Other electrical issues have occured like loss of function of the speedometer and all gages. Called the ram specialist at 866. 726. 4636 was instructed not under warrenty and nothing they could do to help. It would be our responsibility to cover the cost of 926. 00 plus tax at our Dodge dealership. This is a manifactor defect that should be covered by Dodge.

Dasboard cracking - vehicle is not even 10 yrs. Old yet. Handle inside that you would grab to help yourself in has cracked and is not safe to use. My wife almost fell out of the vehicle when this handle cracked and came loose from the inside of the truck. Dashboard cracks match exactly what I have viewed on-line while investigating other owners issues with this vehicle with same problem. Obviously a common problem with this make (Dodge) of vehicle. Cannot find any info on any recall being issued. I am worried if an air bag deployed that the dash would become flying shrapnel.

If I were to be in an accident I am extremely concerned that the dash would fly apart with the air bag on impact seriously hurt someone, the dash is cracked badly and I have already seen chunks come out of my brothers dash this is an expensive repair.

When I slow down, and specifically turn the wheel in either direction, my Dodge will randomly stall. The radio will stay on and the only way I know the truck has stalleld is because I am not going anywhere. Once I put it in neutral it starts right up and takes off. This is extrememely dangerous and has almost caused accidents. Took it to my local Dodge dealership and they have no clue what it could be as they were "unable to duplicate" the problem.
While driving vehicle with only the rear windows down, iether one or both the vehicle will shake, vibrate and the noise level inside the vehicle will rise to a level making conversation impossible. At higher speed the vibration and shaking become more problematic. Dodge dealer showed me page in owners manual saying if this is a problem, just put down more windows, even if you dont want the other windows down, put down more windows. Design defect ?.
Throttle cable frayed and stuck in full throttle, I just about rearended someone going 45 miles an hour.
My dashboard started developing cracks about a months ago, and they just kept getting worse. Currently there is a huge hole in my dashboard exposing wires (radio no longer works properly) and the passenger side airbag.
I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500. The dash is broken in so many different pieces. I looked down in one of the holes that are now in my dash and saw a piece resting on some wires. If left there I could see how after time it could wear through the insulation on multiple wires and cause them to arc or get hot and possibly cause a fire. Is this right that Dodge has done nothing about it and will not do anything for the consumer when contacted ? there should be a recall on the dash , but thats my 2 cents I guess.
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The front part of the dash next to the windshield is cracked,broken etc. I heard that they are a lot of these dashes like mine. I think they need to recall the item or fix it at company cost not by the consumer.
The dashboard on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 has multiple cracks in it. The most concerning crack is located above the passenger airbag. Also the assist handle on the driver side has been replaced and has broken again. The part is expensive and I should not have to pay to replace this faulty piece again. Consequently, I have had to discontinue the use of the assist handle. I am only 5'2" and it is difficult for me to maneuver in and out of the vehicle safely without the grab handle. The cracks began in 2008 and have been multiplying since then. I will be driving down the street and hear a crack and there is another crack in the dash. The vent areas have all fallen through into the heating/cooling compartments causing rattling.

Dash cracked and is close to becoming a hole. Why has this not been a recall issue I know of at least 200 other Dodge ram owners who have the same problem and that is just in tampa FL. Stop dragging your feet and save us some money from them cutting cost and doing it wrong the first time.
I own a 2007 Dodge mega cab 1500. I purchased the vehicle new and have had this issue almost from the beginning. This wobble has not just happened a couple times, it happens every time it is driven. I have tried to get the death wobble fixed several times. Each time I was told it was fixed but for me to do something else too. I have added a leveling kit, replaced tires to the shops specs, shocks, front steering stabilizer and all of the work the Dodge shop has done. The most recent event is that I picked up my truck from the dealer today from it being in the shop for the same reason I had it in the shop 4 other times. I was told the whole front end was fixed and promised the problem was taken care of. I paid the bill and left. I was 20 minutes away from the dealership and it started again. I pulled over and called the dealer. I was told no one was in service even though they did not close for another 30 minutes and to bring the truck back. The truck had already been there for almost a month. I turned around to go back to the dealer my wife was in front of me in her vehicle and the wobble started again. She moved over 3 lanes of highway because she thought I was going to flip the truck. The front right tire appeared like it was going to shake right off. I returned to the dealer and was told the only thing they could do was have me leave it again and someone would look at it tomorrow. Someone is going to be severally hurt with this problem. I have tried everything I have been told to do and nothing works. There are no recalls, no investigations, no one seems to care. Someone is going to have a serious accident or cause a death because of Dodge's faulty equipment. What are we going to have to do before this problem is fixed? is it going to be another firestone tire issue? I cant afford to another vehicle but I can't imagine what could happen if it does not get fixed.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 9l sport. I paid a lot of money for this special order truck and now the dash is cracking all over????? never had a new vehicle do this in all my 54 years. I live in texas and I know it is hot,but it shouldn't be cracking like it is,none of my other cars or trucks are cracking at all, I take good care of all my vehicles so why is the Dodge the only one cracking?I think it should be recalled to get this fixed!!.
The dash started to crack in this time frame and continues to crack into pieces which may fall into the housing. These pieces are sharp and in an accident could easily break away and cause bodily harm. This is a well known issue with the dash and also the black cover in this vehicle spanning a number of years. The plastic is obviously sub standard and defective. It is not only a cosmetic issue but a safety issue in that futher damage could occur from further deteriation of the defective materials.
The brake line on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 blew out above the gas tank. I've discovered this seems to be a very common problem among owners with similar makes. Definitely a safety issue. I'm at just about 160,000 miles.

Our dash has been cracking for a while now. Now big chunks have begun to break off. Just hitting a bump in the road will break it off. I am concerned that the air bag will go off and the rest of the dash will explode and cause injuries from flying plastic shards. We take very good car of our truck. This should not be happening.
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, and have had an issue that started as just a starting problem, it would take a few tries to start the truck; and no dealer or private mechanic could tell me what was the problem, even though there was an engine light on. The problem recently got more severe, and dangerous, I was driving to work and after finally starting and driving for a few miles, the engine just turned off; right in the middle of the road, no brakes, no engine, no steering. . . . The key was turned in the on position and the air and radio was still working but the engine was off; upon searching for a solution to this problem online, I came upon a link that the NHTSA was looking into the matter, because this problem seems to be fairly widespread based on an internet search, so I thought I would send this in to see if there was any new info, or if there could be a solution to this dangerous issue. When using my turn signal/wiper multifunction switch: pressing the stalk down (left turn) my right turn signal turns on; pressing the stalk up (right turn) the turn signal does not turn on at all; when using wipers, fast does not come on, trying it in normal in most cases results in an intermittent operation, varying in speed.
Driving at approx. 25 mph an a residential street, I hit a pothole. The dashboard, which was badly cracked as a result of manufacturer defect, suffered catastrophic failure, collapsing in pieces. The bezel fell forward, obstructing the gauges, and two pieces fell near the pedals. I was able to pull over without further incident.
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in white 8mnths old,rust spots or blemishes bleeding thru paint after being throughly cleaned and protested with 2 coats of lidquid glass auto polish.
Dash falling apart and has damaged heater box. Defrost doesnt work which causes problems with windows fogging up. An accident waiting happen. Also causes heat and a/c not to work. Shars from the dash could cause serious injury or death from an accident. Replaced dash and heater box and same thing happened again. This is a very costly repair!.

The dash in my truck has been cracking and falling apart for some time now, some pieces break off and drop inside the dash area where the airbag and all kinds of wiring are, I'm concerned of possible wiring shorts and fires and also concerned about airbag deployment issues. I'm concerned of the potential personal injury that could occur as these plastic pieces are sharp and rigid and either drop inward in the dash or sometimes fall outside the dash onto the seats/floor depending on the size of a bump you might encounter in the road.
Cracked dashboard, when I bought this truck it had a small crack in the board now a year later it have about 8 cracks, I got a cover for the dashboard, waiting to see if the manufacturer will isue a recall for this problem.
Dashboard began cracking and caving in. Large and small pieces have fallen into the dash area. Soon after, I noticed that several times I have tried using my high beams, and will lose my headlamps, and the high beams don't come on either. Didn't think they were related but recently have heard and read of several other owners who have experienced the same problem with their Dodge rams that have broken dashboards. Some have other electrical problems in the dash too. I also now have significant wind whistle coming from the front windshield unless I leave a window cracked or vent open when travelling highway speeds. Suspect it is from loss of structural rigidity due to collapsed dash.

The dashboard has started cracking after the truck hit the 60,000 mile mark. There are now holes in portions of the dashboard, and the pieces have fallen down into the heater motor, and it has caused the doors on the heater to no longer open and close correctly, leaving the vehicle with no heat. We have contacted Dodge and they say that this is not a defect, and will not recall the defective piece, but there are numerous complaints about the same issue, and it seems to be common with the Dodge ram. This problem is affecting the heat in the truck and issues with the defroster, and this is a safety issue that needs to be resolved.
From initial purhase, vehicle has had a bad vibration & shimmy. Mainly felt between 35 mph and up. Severity increases with interstate speeds. Tires and wheels have been ruled out as the concern. Truck has been to dealership 5 times for this concern but once the tires and wheels were ruled out dealership refuses to do any further investigation. The district manager states that nothing else can be done and the concern is normal characteristic of truck. It is my understanding that this is a major concern for a large majority of 09-up ram owners and needs to be addressed further. The vibration and shimmy are severe enough to make my wife and I nauseated after driving down the interstate for 5 minutes.
Entire dash is completely cracked and gone. Front instrument cluster has nothing to attach to and falls off when I drive.
During the past 12 months, my dashboard developed a hairline crack and now looks like a ziggedy zaggedy puzzle with some edges very sharp. The dash is popped up now and doesn't even stay perfectly flat. I am feeling a recall should be issued or some type of reimbursement offered. This is very terrible.
The turn signal on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 fails on daily basis. Turn signal to left and it turns on right signal. Push indicator forward for bright lights and it turns on windshield washer and wipers. This issue has been going on for approximately two months, daily.
Started truck turned on headlight switch ,was on high beam so pulled lever to dim an lights would not dim then wipers come on and wouldnt shut off and wiper sprayer come on and would not shut off but if I held lever back all went off so have to drive holding lever back. When I got home and shut truck off all of the problems would not shut off even with key out of ignition so had to tie lever back.
My 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 slt truck has around 52,000 miles on it as of now. I am starting to experince turn signal problems. When I turn my turn signal on for the left the right comes on and when I turn my signal on for the right nothing comes on. This has happen to me twice so far. I belive this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by the dealer.

The dashboard on my 1998 Dodge ram has cracked and fallen into the electrical components in several places. It seems to be a problem with the plastic itself as no external sources caused the damage. It started happening in February of 2009 and has gotten steadily worse. The plastic has become so sharp and brittle that driving on a bumpy road will actually cause pieces to fall into the dash. This could be a safety issue if the vehicle was involved in crash, the dashboard could become airborne in shards. These shards of plastic are sharp enough to cause serious injury if they were to strike your face or eyes. The pieces fall into the dashboard and onto electrical components, once they fall into this position it is almost impossible to remove them from the inside of the dashboard. I can see future electrical problems such as a vehicle fire resulting from the sharp shards of plastic being in contact with wiring that is now exposed as a result of the plastic falling away. I have contacted Dodge but was advised that no recall exists and therefore they will not replace the dashboard. It seems that a simple fix on their behalf could avoid major problems with somebody getting seriously injured. An internet search has revealed that there are hundreds of complaints of the same nature, I have owned a Dodge vehicle for almost my entire adult life and I am now looking to purchase a new Ford this year because I am so concerned about this problem.
When I put my left turn signal on, sometimes the right blinker comes on. There is also an issue with the windshield wipers not turning to high speed.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 dashboard cracking and caving in. While driving this truck with the windows down a piece of the cracking dash flew into my eye and almost caused me to crash into another vehicle. I contacted Dodge about the problem but they wanted me to pay for a new dash. I have spoken with yolanda and given her my care# 20225876 but she is not willing to help with this safety issue I was given an estimate to replace the dash for $1576. 00 by westgate Chrysler Jeep Dodge by service advisor paul roland.
This is my second Dodge ram and again my dashboard is cracking a big chuncks are falling thru the dashboard. My first Dodge did this, but I though it may be because I failed to keep it protective from the sun, but the Dodge I have know has always been parked in a garage or under a carport and I make sure and keep protective cleaner, sun of a gun, on it frequently. I do feel that someone legal needs to get involved in this and make Chrysler/Dodge recall this and pay for it. These are not cheap trucks and the engines are very good, but the dashboard makes the truck looked ragged. I have several friends with the same complaints on their Dodge trucks.

For a truck that is less then 10 years old that I paid 32,000 dollars for the dash should not be cracking. I believe Dodge so have a recall for the dashes because almost every ones Dodge ram dash is cracked. I did a web search and every ones dash cracks in the same spot right over the air bag. Truck was involved in pass side front crash, resulting in pass wheel seperating from truck, since truck was repaired heater deflector does not work correctly to blow heat and or defrost correctly, ins wants proof it happened in accident. No inside of truck damaged dealer say can not prove. Deflector broke during collision with tree, was working before accident, maybe deployment of airbag caused ? there is a problem with deflectors now windows ae steaming up vision is impaired, and no heat on feet are, very dangerous situation.
My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500's dashboard is completly shattered without and force to it. It started cracking back in 09 and is now becoming sharp edged peices all over my car. In the case of an accident these sharp peices could easily do some damage to a sensitive part, such as a persons eye. If this is to happen to me, or any of the other of 1000's of people with this issue, there will be lawsuits out the ass for lack of recall. There is something obviously wrong with the dashboard in these trucks, and they need to be fixed.
Dashboard cracking and caved in causing all gauges to stop while drinving working and airbaglight to come on all wiring was exposed the ( dashboard was cracking for over two years but I just learn of other who had the same issues .

Dodge Ram 1500 lst cracking dash vertically and horizontally and now chunks of it falling through. This is a manufacturer's defect and safety issue! it is also a nationwide issue as noted by hundreds and hundreds of lodged complaints and questions as to how to deal with this on multiple forums on the internet. Took my truck in to dealership to have it detailed and vacuuming dust out caused more cracks and actually pieces fell through so I have jagged edges. Anyone should be able to vacuum their dash! Dodge needs to recall this dashboard across numerous model years beginning 2000. The jagged edges are a safety issue as will be the exposed wiring when the other cracks cave in. I want this replaced and I should not have to pay for $1000 for it.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. Dashboard began cracking and now has totally cracked and parts have fallen into the defrost/air unit as well as causing sharp edges that can cause injury. Afraid that if airbag deploys this will cause jagged edges of plastic to be propelled to a driver or passenger, causing serious injury, in addition to the damage of the a/c and defrost. There have been ten of thousands of complaints about this and Dodge refuses to repair this defect on their trucks from 1995-2006.
Dash is cracking in multiple points near vents and now coming across the top of passenger air bag area. There is so many fine cracks across point near windshield and vents. If air bag was to deploy I feel that shards of dash will be flying within the cab due to the way that the crack is in vicinity of airbag.

The safety defect components were unknown. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the recall remedy repair; however, the technician refused to repair the vehicle after an appointment was previously scheduled. The dealer was unable to provide a date when the vehicle could be repaired. The manufacturer was notified and would not provide further assistance. The current mileage was approximately 46,000. There was no failure mileage. The VIN was unavailable.
Dash had two small cracks in dash when purchased used in 2010. Since then, these cracks have multiplied and have become larger, with pieces breaking out, leaving sharp edges. Some pieces are falling into area of passenger air bag, possibly causing a cut in components. This is a very common problem with the ram pickup trucks during several years. I had same problem with my 2002 ram, on which Chrysler corp. Paid partially for dash replacement. This situation could very well be considered a safety issue.
Dash board is cracking just like all the other Dodge trucks of this same time frame. It has many sharp edges that have the potential to do harm to somebody. I don't understand, there are countless complaints of this on every forum and complaint site. There was also a news broadcast about, and has anybody tried to resolve this problem? the only response you get is "get a dash cover" . No, I don't want something to cover-up the crack I want it fixed. Sure, I can buy a new one, but it will just do it again in a couple of years. They need to produce a better dash, made of better material, and show some kind ownership of the product they produce.

I have had no trouble out of my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 until 2007. Thats when the first crack came into being, with a crack I might add. I herd the snap and looked over and a huge crack appeared. It ran straight up and down the middle of the passenger side, more or less cutting the dash in half. Well it went all down hill from there. One day in 2010 I rolled down my windows and the wind caught a piece of the dash and flipped it in my face. I ran off the side of the road and nearly wrecked. I was just lucky that there was no road sign at the place I ran off the road, or someone walking there at the time. And here is the kicker, I was on my way to work. At the end of the day when I got off work I had a flat tire. There was a nail in the sidewall that could not be fixed. I had to buy a new tire, [thanks Dodge]. I can't touch the dash anymore, the lightest touch now will break more pieces off. And the plastic covers they sell to put on top of the dash is only a short term fix. The dash continues to fall apart under the dash cap causing the cap to warp and not fit right, or not at all. The only way to fix it is with a new dash, which I cant afford at a whooping $500. 00 bucks. This is one problem that Dodge should step forward to fix because it is a safety issue.
As you're driving, regardless of where-when you come across a bump in the road, hole, speed bump, railroad tracks, etc. ; the entire front end of the truck jumps. The steering wheel moves completely from your hands. This has caused several very close encounters while driving down the highway. The truck jumps and shimmy's from side to side. This happens every time you drive, regardless of the speed. The car dealer said it was a result of leakage in the seals with the shocks. However, there is still a problem.

The problems that we are having with our 2009 Dodge slt 1500 is 1. . . The recall on heat and air. . . Dealer fixed! great! 2. . . . Yall ready for this! our truck started smoking and stalling out with no power yes smoking out the tail pipe solid white smoke and you couldn't even see the traffic behind you! how embarassing is that. . . . Soooo the dealer lead us on for 6 months that they didnt know what was wrong and they where doing this and that and finally they broke down and put. . . Rebuilt heads, brand new short block(is what they said) and everything else was rebuilt or used. . And called it a new motor!!! now the problem is even worse then what it was before. We almost got hit by 2 semi's tring to change lanes in traffic heading back from gainesville last weekend because the truck stalled when we slowed down slightly. We tried to pick up speed again and the truck would not go no power! what a peice of crap. . . The deal said that they have to go to atlanta on our truck alone because they have never heard of anything like it! does anyone else have this problem!!!!!!!!! even after a so called rebuilt motor.

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad-cab. During normal use and care the dashboard has cracked in two places. A piece has broken off the dash and fell down into the area behind the dashboard. Subsequently, the heater stopped blowing hot air. The heater failure appears to be due to the broken piece of the dash interfering with the heater mechanism behind the dash. No repair or replacement has been attempted at this time. The plastic inserts in the door handles have also failed. This includes the components that hold the window, mirror, and door lock controls.
Dash have broken to pieces. At times a good bump in the road will cause a piece to break away. My biggest concern is the air bag going off in an accident and causing shards of this plastic to cause worse injuries to a passenger than the accident itself. This started with a small hole and grown to almost the entire dash gone.
The dashboard on my truck has broken into many pieces. These pieces have fallen into the passenger side airbag. If these pieces were to be expelled in the event of an airbag deployment, severe injury could result from flying shrapnel. This problem is very prevelant in Dodge ram trucks. Something must be done. Owners should not be required to pay an average of $750 to repair an obvious defect in materials. I personally know 4 people in my town with the exact problem. There are hundreds of complaints that owners have posted online. This dangerous condition must be remediated.
I purchased a 2002 Dodge ram in 2007, in the past year I have noticed two cracks in the dashboard.
Dasbhboard began cracking at 103,000 miles. Within weeks after initial crack was noticed, the cracks extend from the windshield all the way to the front edge of the dash. Multiple cracks are running over the top and edge of the passenger airbag, causing safety concerns if the airbag was to be deployed.

Dashboard of my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 has fifteen cracks. The dash is in two parts. The part where the vents are is ready to either fall out or come completely out. There has been over three hundred complaints on autobeef. My concerns is the plastic is going to fall in and cause an electrical fire. Dodge will not do anything about it they keep telling me it's a warranty issue. It is a defect in their product. I'm so disappointed not only does it look bad but I just keep waiting for it to fall in on me when I'm driving. I have done nothing to cause this issue. I keep my truck clean and keep my windows cracked for air circulation. I always try to park my vehicle in the shade. Like thousands of other Dodge ram owners, I have a collapsed dashboard in my 2000 model ram. The truck is in absolute perfect shape with only 45,000 miles. . . Except for the shards of plastic that cut my wrist when I was retrieving a paper off the dashboard. I sure never thought I would be injured while sitting in a stationary truck in my driveway. Surely it's not a safe situation to have a collapsed dashboard over so many electrical wires and air bags.
The complaint I have is related to my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I have experienced the turn signals do not respond accordingly or not at all. If turning left, the right signal would come on, if turning right, the left signal would come on or not at all. This issue has also affected my windshield wipers speed. I no longer have a high speed wiper option. I feel this is an extremely dangerous issue as vehicles behind me or in front of me will not know which way I am turning or switching lanes if the need is there. I have to continuously have to jiggle the steering wheel to get the signals to work. There are several reports of this issue with various years of the Dodge trucks and durangos and believe this should be a recall issue. Thank you for your time.
The defrost portion of the hvac unit does not work and has only worked intermitantly for several years. At first I could not get any air on the feet position, but thought this was just low air flow. The defrost now does not work and doesnt matter what position I have the unit on, floor, defrost etc. This to me is a safety issue and I see numerous complaints regarding the same issue. I dont believe it has ever worked properly. When you need the defrost, it is usually out of concern for visility. This is a safety concern for many other ram owners.
Recirculation door on heating/cooling system broke off inside duct work and was resting on the blower fan of 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 2x2 mega cab. Cannot use defrost mode because broken door is retricting air flow. Seems to be a common proble with 2003-2008 Dodge ram trucks. Truck has 65,000 mile and is out of warranty. Dealer wants 1,200. 00 dollars to repair. I had another policy that covered the whole cost of repair. Policy runs out 2013 or 125,000 miles which ever comes first. Love my truck though!.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The hook that secures the drivers floor mat to the floor fractured. As a consequence, the floor mat moved under the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and a technician stated that he would have to pay $900. 00 to replace the floor mat clip. No repairs were made. He was in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage is 24,000. Well some times the wipers will not work or do not work properly and the signals are completely different than chosen it does this most all the time I can press forward on the switch lever sometimes and get it to work properly but sometimes it does not.
For the last few years I have watched my dashbord slowly deterioate. It started with small hairline cracks that have evolved into huge cracks. Every bumb causes the cracked sections to cave in, requiring me to lift those sections with a screw driver. I take very good care of my truck, cleanin and polishin it twice a month. I receive compliments from people telling me that my truck looks as if it was just drivin out of a show room except for my dashboard. I'm terrified to think of what might happen if some sharp pieces were to fly in my or my passengers eyes in the event of an impact. ( please) bring this matter to Dodge's attention, lets not wait for a statistic to make us think, yea, we should have done something about it.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4ã—4, the dash has completely crach and broken out. I hit a bump in the road and a piece the size of of a plate falls into the lower part of the dash. My dash completely has collapsed, I have never heard of this before on any vehicle. Then I read the blobs and saw thousands of people having the same problem. Why is this happening to are trucks, and everyone is haveing the same problem, at what point do we say manufacturer defect. How many people have to say the same thing before some one does something, they are not even offering a reasonable repair. $1000 to replace the dash is a joke, a plastic cover, are you kidding! Dodge does not even make this dash any more so it is supply and demand! something has to be done.
Yes I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and about 2 years ago I started noticing that there were small cracks forming in my dash board and wasnt sure why. Done some calling around and research and found out that there was nothing that could be done about it short of dropping 500 dollars on a new dash board. I noticed a slight line in the dash sometime in 2009, next to the windshield and about 5 or 6 inches from the passenger door. I thought that it was a surface scratch. Later on, it got longer and longer, becoming noticeable as a crack, until now it is all the way across the dash and to the glove compartment, coming at an angle towards the middle of the truck. About a year after I noticed that the crack had gotten longer, perhaps 1/2 way across the dashboard, I was hit in the back end by another vehicle. About 7 months after that, the crack elongated to it's full length across the dash from the windshield to the glove compartment. I am worried that the dash will fall in.

Low windshield washer sensor, this sensor has been replaced or cleaned every 4 - 6 months since I have owned the truck new. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with Chrysler corp. The dealership has said I need to delute the winshield washer fliud or that this is normal in the winter, well it happens in the summer too. I just want them to turn off this sensor or alarm.

Starting to experience unexplainable electrical issues, like power windows, and door locks not working on occassion. Dealer quoted replacement cost is outrageous.

I have found through research of how to fix my dashboard which is now severly cracked that it's caving in, that Dodge has known about this problem for years and is not fixing. This is a safety issue as there are now sharp pieces of plastic dash that could hurt myself or passenger in an accident or other circumstances. I was trying to find how to fix my dash but now see Dodge is at least reparing some dashes or paying half towards replacing the dash. I should not have to pay to fix this problem if Dodge is now starting to fix or at least address the issue. I currently have my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, a 2004 Chrysler town and country and a 2008 Dodge grand caravan and have bought at least two dozen Chrysler products and feel I have been a staunch supporter of Chrysler, even through the hard times they have had. I feel this type of loyalty I have show should be rewarded with acknowledgement ond repair of my dash. I am buying a new car next year and have started looking at other makes due to some of the quality problems I am encountering on all 3 of my current chryslers but the dashboard makes me the most upset because it has been known and not fixed for loayl customers like me or even new customers so that they will return and buy other Chrysler products in the future. Fix this dashboard problem now! it's the right way to do business with people/customers!!.
I like many others have a dash that has cracked and now pose's a problem. After doing some on-line and local research I have found everyone thats a '98 - '01 Dodge ram has had the same reported problem. Local Dodge said they can be replaced or repaired but they will crack again. . Dash caps are being used to cover the problem. "covering" the problem is not a fix. I want to know why there has not been a recall from Dodge on this issue. Just how much damage will a damaged dash cause in the event of a "just right" accident that cause a body part that is right in front of driver and passenger(s) if it shatters? broken plastic can be as damageing as glass.
Dashboard falling apart. Looks like a jigsaw puzzle. Have done a search online to find out this is a problem that continues from year 1998 through 2010. Dodge refuses to acknowledge there is a problem. However, I feel the dash having jagged edges pointing at you would be a safety hazard.
At about 180,000 miles the dash cracked and within 3,000 miles the center of the dash completely fell in and keeps breaking more.
The dash on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 is cracked in several places and the assist handle on the driver side a post fell off. I purchased a new handle but the insert that the screw goes into is damaged and loose so only the top screw is holding it in place. I am dis-abled and need the handle to get in or out of the vehicle safely. I'm concerned that the passenger side airbag will not deploy correctly because of the large crack over the glovebox, also a piece of the dash has fallen into the ventilation shaft and is lodged stopping air flow and rattling noisily. The dealer where I purchased the vehicle is currently out of business. This is terribly discerning and certainly not what you would expect from such an expensive product. These problems started in the fall of 2008.

My concern is that in the event of an accident, the pieces could cause injury to any vehicle occupants. It's been cracked since 2008 when the vehicle was approximately 6 years old. A friend has the same make/model and has the same problem.
The grip handles and dashboard have degraded from heat and uv radiation and cracked into many sharp pieces. I cut my hand while wiping the inside of my windshield. I take blood thinners and this caused me to bleed for quite some time. I did not realize how razor sharp the edges of the broken pieces are. These would likely slice the air bag & driver/passengers faces & arms in a crash. The plastic selected by Dodge is not suitable for the purpose intended and presents a hazard. An additional hazard is the exposure of wire harnesses exposed to the direct sunlight and extreme heat. Cracked insulation will lead to electrical fires & failed operator controls. The failure is most prevalent in tropical and sub-tropical climates. The plastic used by Dodge needs to be reformulated, and sale of the faulty formulation halted immediatly.
I was just driving along, crack my dash cracked from front end to almost the back. The crack caused me to jump swerve my truck almost causing an accident. Dodge has been no help and my dash has deteriorated even more ever since, I'm getting very worried it might affect the air bags as all the dash peices fall into the recess where the air bags are which would be a bad thing should there be an accident.
I have a 2001 Dodge ram 4x4 1500 truck. A little over two years ago I noticed that the dash board started to crack for unknown reasons. Now my dash has big holes in it where the dash is just falling apart. Parts of the dash have fell through into the vents and then just cracking off in big pieces. Which leaves the area exposed. I have been cut when the pieces just crack off and they have very sharp edges. I also have a son that was injured when he applied a small amount of pressure, trying to get into the truck and his hand went through it where it was so brittle and just broke. He was cut pretty good. I have a big piece under my seat. My dash is a huge safety hazard. The air bag on passenger side has been turned off because I don't want sharp pieces to hurt anyone if I have a wreck. Also their's not a dash there for any support. These sharp pieces pose a safety concern. I can't replace the dash due to the fact all the other dashes were made out of the same product and it will just crack over time too. The dash is still in my truck, well whats left of it.

Cracking of dash was visible much sooner than January 1 2008 but got much worse to the point now that it is caving in and pieces falling out. Contacting Dodge was a waste of time for me. I was basically told that I could take it to my local Dodge dealer to get it repaired at my expense! I am currently looking for a replacement dash. I feel that the safety of my family and myself have to be addressed, who knows where these broken pieces are going and whether or not they will affect the activation of the airbags or may possibly cause other problems depending on where they get wedged. I strongly believe Dodge should start an immediate recall to avoid possible human injury!.

My truck dash on my 1999 Dodge ram is cracked in about 20 different pieces. This started about 4 years ago and I brought it to the attention of my local Dodge dealer and they said it was a common problem, but was not recalled. It has gotten worse over the years. Chrysler/Dodge says this is an isolated problem in a press release, but it is not. I am a police officer and have stopped an estimated 50-75 Dodge ram trucks from around this year and have yet to see a single one that does not have a cracked dash. I have seen a recent news story about this on my local news and have seen thousands of complaints on the internet.

On hot day, a vertical crack formed in dash during normal driving conditions. This crack is very near the passenger side airbag. At the least this could cause a rip in the airbag during deployment. At the worst this could cause the airbag to malfunction all together.

5 years after manufacture of this vehicle the dashboards have gone from fractured to nearly completely dissolved. Through research this issue is applicable to all vehicles produced with this make and model. The issue has become a safety concern now that the air bags have become exposed and will not properly inflate if needed. Dodge has received more than 16,000 complaints and insists these faulty parts are the responsibility of the consumer. However they are more than happy to refer you a certified dealer with a replacement cost of approximately 975 dollars us.

Normal driving and behavior lead up to the event. The dash in my vehicle is cracked and falling in in multiple locations. There are sharp shards of plastic sticking up and sitting near the passanger airbag. I fear that these could easily become projectiles in the event of an airbag deployment. Nothing has been done to correct the problem. There are hundreds of complaints online for this issue. Dodge is not offering a cost effective solution to this problem.

They really do need to replace it with a better item and any others that are possibly out there right now.
Right after purchasing my used 2000 Dodge ram quad cab, a large crack quickly formed on the dashboard. Now only a few months after purchasing my truck the dashboard has gaping holes in it. These aren't little holes they consume most of the dash itself. As many complaints as there has been on this problem one would assume that the manufacturer would have the courage to back their products cause it is obvious to the working man that this is not an individualized problem but a serious epidemic. While the holes are not causing any problems right now except for continuing the joke war, people laughing cause we can't keep our Dodges together, but what is the chance that some of this broken material will get down and hurt other components or even the safety components. Something needs to be done about this. Chrysler needs to step up already and recall their faulty craftsmanship.

I went to reach for some mail I had placed on the dash? and the pressure of my hand caused the dash to shatter and two large holes to form. With the pieces falling down inside the dash. I have attempted to hot glue the remaining pieces, to prevent further collapse. I have subsequently talked with someone who tells me? that this is a common and known problem with Dodge ram trucks. I'd like to know what can be done about it? and whether Chrysler has owned up to the problem and taken measures to repair the damage caused by a known defective product.

Dash cracks in the dash pad under the window. It started with a crack in the window which had no impact point. Then the dash cracked in the middle,then over the air bag on the passenger side and then over the drivers side 3 total cracks.
Truck is painted black and is peeling on the hood and roof of truck. It is actually turning white in color and is very rough. I was going to have the truck repainted; however, several other Dodge ram owners have stated that they have had the same problems, and that I should contact Dodge.
Crashed dashboard! the vent coverings are no longer present and have fallen into the air ducts. There are large cracks starting from where the dash meets the windshield and extending out to the end of the dash. There are triangular holes where the dash has fallen through. There are roughly 8 large cracks, each having roughly 3 or 4 smaller cracks radiating perpendicular to the main cracks. The cracks are very sharp, and can cause the potential for harm. When the a/c is turned on, there has been pieces of small plastic thrown out of the duct. This is a major hazard, especially when driving. Another problem with the cracks and holes is that there is now a change in contrast upon reflection from the windshield, which is very distracting. Instead of having a constant tan color being reflected, there is tan with black interruptions.

I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup that has a mysteriously cracking dash panel. There has never been a front-end collision or anyone pounding on the dash, as I am the second owner. I noticed a small crack in 2006 when the truck was about 5 years old and had about 63,000 miles. I didn't realize how widespread this issue is until the last year or so when I started seeing different websites with tons of complaints about this, particularly Chrysler products and more specifically - pickup trucks between '97 - '02. I'm concerned about possible safety issues that could arise due to broken pieces damaging electrical wiring or components such as airbag wiring. Also, it seems a slight possibility that this plastic could become dangerous projected shrapnel, if you will, in the case of airbag deployment on the passenger side. This plastic is very brittle and seems to be an obvious manufacture defect in that maybe the plastic was not cured at an appropriate temperature causing the brittleness. I am not sure if the panel was purchased from a supplier or was manufactured by Chrysler. My particular truck was assembled in mexico, just in case that is a common thread.

One location that is very concerning to me is the one above the passenger side airbag. I have since taken my truck back to the dealership and told them of my concern and that I feel this is now a safety issue. There were tiny cracks in the dashboard but over the next couple of months with the car being parked in the shade, the cracks grew worse and worse until now there are about 5 major cracks and I'm concerned that two will merge to create a hole in my dash. If this happens, the components and concealed wiring will be at risk of failure due to sun exposure and a safety hazard.

After random amounts of normal driving speedometer starts bouncing at idle from 0-5 mph then abs and brake warning lights illuminate after ariving at dealer I was told it was caused by a leaking abs connector that was "improperly desigened" and all they could do was clean it out and fill it with electromagnetic grease . I was also told (by more than one dealer)that I was not the only one with this problem and daimler Chrysler has been no help other than letting me lodge a complaint and sending me a letter of apology both times happened under 9,000 miles and thankfully have not happend again (I'm at about 15,000 miles).

I can touch the dash with one finger and apply minimal pressure and the dash spider webs. This truck has less than 100k miles and is parked under a covered shed at home. This is ridiculous and seems to me to be a real safety issue.

I am reporting a bad dash board in my truck. I first noticed two small cracks that appeared down by where the windshield & dash meet. I took my '97 Ram 1500 to the dealer in 2002 for paint delamination on the hood. They had the hood painted for a $150. 00 charge to us. Soon thereafter the paint started to peel on the right fender and the cab roof. At this point I was still unaware of any actual factory defect, or paint delamination issues. I took the truck into the dealer again in 2004. The service manager took pictures, and requested assistance from the main office. He mentioned to me that the paint for this and previous years was defective, and I could probably count on a partial payment by check, to have the truck paint fixed. We were denied any assistance becaue of the milage (139,000) and the fact that they already helped us once.

I have a 2002 Dodge ram that replaced a lemon 2001 Dodge ram. The 02 has had a problem with the front end pulling and shacking since the day received the truck it has been in for service 5 times since August 5th 2002. It also has problems with the engine idle allways dropping below 500 rpms and trying to stall along with very hard downshifting when coming to a stop. The dealers allways say unable to duplicate problem even though it happens on my way home from the dealer it is very frustarting to drop off the truck for days at a time once or twice a month and then be told unable to duplicate the problem and get in the truck and it happen but the dealers claim they dont feel the problem or can't find the problem. The TSB's for the engine idle have been performed and all it did was make it no stall out completly only idle way down and also my gas milage and the overall performance to go down. I have requested Dodge buy this thing they call the mayor back on Nov 15th 02 and they have not responded. What can I do now daimler is just ignoring my problems with this truck. I built a anti Dodge website trying to get there attention as to how many other people are having these trouble as well and I have posted emails and stories from them on the web site.

Dashboard cracking issue. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 sport. Two years after purchasing the vehicle I noticed a crack in my dashboard. I took it to Dodge and they said that I broke it and there was nothing they could do. Over time since the dash has cracked it has gotten worse. There are several large cracks in the dash as well as a huge chunk missing right above the instrument cluster. This causes a glare in the windshield that is dangerous and may cause a wreck. There is exposed wiring in the dash that may short out, due to parts of the dash falling on it or the heat of the sun. This may cause either the air bag to deploy, wipers not to function properly during use in rainy conditions, or the headlights not working during the night that could result in a crash injuring an occupant. I have already noticed sun fading on the wiring. I keep it covered with a towel to reduce the risk of sun exposure. The vehicle has been keep in my garage most of its life. There are 5 Dodge ram's in my family and they all have this issue. This is not a isolated incident with these trucks and is not my fault. I paid over 22,000 dollars for this truck in 2000 and it only has 135,000 miles on it. I keep my vehicle very well maintained and clean . Every Dodge ram on the road that I see has this issue. So there are thousands of trucks out there with this issue. They are all hazardous to operate in the present condition . I hope that it does not take someone getting hurt by this issue for it to get resolved. The resolution: it is my opinion that the ntsb make Dodge issue a recall for the dashboard problem. The consumer should be able to make an appointment with their local dealer. The part should be replaced with not cost to the owner of the vehicle. This is a very dangerous situation for the driver/passenger of the vehicle as well as other motorist around the subject vehicle.

Now in 2004, there is hardly any paint on the hood or the top of the cab with other peeling on the other parts as well. The rockwall, TX Dodge dealership's rep said he would take care of the defective paint job, and we'd pay $700 toward the paint job. After that estimate, we held off getting it painted because of moving to mississippi, so I went to the howard wilson Dodge dealer in flowood, ms. That dealership's rep would not do anything-0. This is not right. Why would the texas crysler rep say yes, that the paint peeling off in chunks was an inferior paint job, but the mississippi crysler rep says he will do nothing. I would not need to be painting it at all, if it weren't for the defective paint job.
