Eight problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Severe pulling to left whenever brakes are applied; been in dealer shop on three occasions and problem still reoccurring. The dealer fixed the vehicle but the problem returned afterwards.
While traveling 35 mph right front brake pad fell off. No accident or injuries accurred. Made excessive noise. Replaced brakes several times. While trying to stop on wet pavement rear brakes locked up. Have had several near misses. Has taken to dealer once.
I have had the steering damper replaced several times. It is unknown to me why this happens and the dealer has no answer either. All the components on this vehicle are "heavy-duty". Braking is becoming more of a problem as the brakes wear down. The truck only has 21,000 miles on it. The power door locks I have no idea about they just stopped working one day, but, they do work w/ the remote entry. I also noticed the horn actuator is hard to activate due to the hard "leather" for the airbag cover. The driver's door keeps getting missaligned, I have never heard of a vehicle having this much of a problem like it.
While driving at 50 mph and applying the brakes car vibrates.
Braking system causes severe vehicle pull to right side. At speeds greater than 30 mph, it is very difficult to maintain control of the truck. Dealer replaced parts on 1/14/99. Problem not fixed. District manager called to resolve problems. On 3/30/99 he worked for 2 days replacing parts. Problem still exists today. Dodge seems not to be able to resolve the problem. Brake pull is severe enough to be a huge safety problem for my family and I.
When consumer applies brakes, vehicle pulls to to the left and right. Vehicle has rear abs brakes only.
When appyling abs brakes on wet or dry pavement brakes lock up ,cause unknown. Dealer cannot identify thecause of the problem. Please give any further details.
When driving on wet pavement and upon depressing brake pedal to make a normal stop vehicle was very difficult to stop, poor brake performance caused extended stopping distance. Consumer contacted dealer.
