Three problems related to hydraulic power assist steering system have been reported for the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated while making a left turn at 5 mph, the power steering locked up. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the power steering rack was replaced. The power steering rack had failed. Updated 10/25/06.
The power steering pump was also the power assist for the brake system. The consumer had no steering and no brakes.
When towing vehicle has jumped from side to side, changing lanes, was uncontrollable. Has been to dealer twice. Dealer replaced front end and power steering. Did not remedy problem. It is hard to drive the vehicle straight but the cause was not still found.
