12 problems related to equipment have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was involved in an accident on may 3rd 2019 where I struck a vehicle that had just entered the two lane highway from the shoulder of the road and crossed in front of me. I hit her at 45 mph resulting in heavy from end damage which I'm still waiting on the insurance company to decide if it will be repaired or totaled out. I'm fearing it's totaled. Anyway I'm contacting you because my airbags didn't deploy. I'm in no manner an automotive engineer so I can't explain why thy didn't deploy I'm just wanting you to know they didnt. The vehicle I hit was diagonal to me,.
2003 Dodge ram got it when it 2 years old first the dash fell apart 8/1/17 took it to get a front end aligned and found the frame to be rusted do to bad design and Dodge should recall this and repair the problem. Toyota fixed there frame problem Dodge people need to stand together and take legal action against them and stop buying there product.
Vehicle hesitates when stepping on fuel pedel from a dead stop does it when it wants to off and on at different times and some days not at all.
Because the oe blend doors are defective, my defroster does not work. I have to constantly use a squeegee while driving to remove fog from the inside windshield, which is extremely unsafe. Occasionally the heater will kick in, and even though I live in florida, it does get quite cold during the winter months.
Takata recall was informed early last year via recall notice about the issue, when I contacted Dodge to get service they informed me that the parts were not available. I inquired about the safety of driving and they commented. . If you don't feel safe you should not drive the vehicle. That is a poor answer for a $40. 000. 00 vehicle. Another issue that is a real safety matter even though denied by Dodge is the dashboard on the truck is a hazard due to chunks that fly at you due to the breakdown of the inferior plastic that was utilized. . . According to a former service manager @ Dodge. I went to Dodge and they stated it was poor maintenance and had I asked during my warranty would of covered a portion of the repair. How is this poor treatment when you google the issue and thousands of comments appear on this matter? below it requests the date, I am unsure of the exact date just recall it being early last year.
The dash is all broke up and pieces fly around when you have the windows down or could if you had a wreck. This is a bad problem with the Dodge pickup trucks the dash just breaks up all over the place.
The dash on my 03 Ram 2500 5. 9 diesel has literally has fallen in on itself. Very large sections of the dash have broken off and have become a safety concern. For example, if an accident were to occur causing the airbag to deploy, pieces of projectile shrapnel would be thrown all over the cab of the truck. I've been in contact with Dodge, and nothing will be done about this issue because the truck is "out-of-warranty" and is considered "normal wear and tear". The particular customer service representative I spoke to copped an attitude with me and refused to connect me to a supervisor, citing that it "is not a supervisor issue". I do not know where to go from here. Does an accident have to occur in which people are maimed by pieces of the dash in order for Dodge to do anything? I really would hate to see my wife with pieces of plastic sticking out of her face and skull because this problem was not handled in an appropriate manner.
The defrost/defog will not work. The air only blows directly out of the dashboard vents, it won't defrost or blow air to the floor vents. This is causing driving issues (I. E. Pulling over due to fogging up).
I had no control of the steering and the vehicle was violently shaking, I slowed down to a stop, composed myself and drove on, the steering was very hard to control but the shaking only started about 40 mph, I took the vehicle to two shops, had ball joints, u joints, tie rods, steering, shocks, upgraded mopar steering assembly, pitman arm , all replaced, shortly thereafter I received recall notice n62/ NHTSA 13v-528, the instructions stated to mail all original repair documents related to tie rod failure and I would be reimbursed, I received a phone call just simply denying any responsibility with no particular reason other than my mileage, I asked for an email outlining the reason in detail which had absolutely no content of any explanation as to why the claim was denied. I did not receive my original receipts back either.
I was repairing a part under the dash, the dash shattered. We found several other statements online that stated this was a defective part. I feel this is a problem because I could shatter and injure the driver or passengers.
Engine ticking.
Instrument dash cover and upper dash cover have fractured in several areas. These pieces of plastic have sharp edges and would result in severe lacerations if impacted or dislodged and set into motion as a projectile during a collision.
