Eight problems related to front driver side air bag inflator have been reported for the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Took vehicle into jacksons of enid, 4405 w owen garriott rd, enid, ok 73703 on 4/27/17 for safety recall related work on passenger air bag inflator and outer tie rod assembly. Air bag light was coming on sporadically and increasingly often. Work performed, if any, by jacksons of enid did not solve the problem. Air bag light came on within a mile of the business and continues at various speeds and for longer periods of time. Outer tie rod assembly??? can't tell. . What am I supposed to do? wait until the airbag inflates while I am driving, possibly injuring myself or others? or maybe lose a front wheel? this is not the only disturbing encounter that I have experienced at this business. Call me ((580) 984-1200). I do not trust jacksons of enid and they are the only game in town. Tried to contact bbb, but they are not bbb affiliated. Go figure.
Takata recall complaint recall number r26 / NHTSA 15v-312 I took my truck to the dealership to get the recalled passenger takata airbag inflator replaced under the recall. I was told by one of the service advisors that Dodge will replace any parts that are broken free of charge during the replacement of the inflators. Well that was a lie, as you can see that the dashboard on this same 2003 Ram 2500 model has many complaints about it cracking and literally breaking apart due it becoming brittle. Mine has 5 cracks on the dashboard and it is blowing broken pieces out the vents into my face while driving due to the problem with the dashboards. Well then the dealership advised me that the dashboard will crack and break into pieces during the replacement of the faulty takata inflator and they wanted me to pay to replace the dashboard and other associated parts that will break apart during the replacement so I declined the repair. They told me that since my dashboard has cracks already that they would not pay for the parts that would break during the replacement of the inflator. I do not have the money to replace the entire dashboard. So now every time my wife is a passenger in the truck I have to worry about her getting injured worse in an accident due the faulty inflator. I find this unacceptable that Dodge installed cheap plastic dashboards and now I have a defective inflator that can not be replaced with out costing me thousands of dollars due to the defective dashboards. I think Dodge should pay for everything since they used faulty parts and the recall repairs should not cost me anything to get it fixed no matter how many parts they have to replace free of charge attached is the repair ticket I received from the dealership.

2003 Dodge Ram 2500. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair passenger airbag inflator housing recall notice.
I purchased my p/u new 2003. I received a notice of recall for defective air bag inflator housing - p78. Today I called my dealer, mid county Chrysler in port arthur, TX , to set up an appointment as instructed on the notice. They refused to set up the appointment and reported " the parts are not available". I asked to added to a call list to schedule an appointment once the parts were available and they refused saying " we are not allowed to actuate a list, you have to call back to schedule appointment at a later date. By not having a call list to put my name on, the dealer is making it my responsibility to get my car repaired. In the past had a recall on a Ford vehicle which ended up never being repaired because, that dealer kept telling me that they didn't have the part or didn't have the time to take care of the problem. I did call over and over and over again with that one. It did no goo. . . . . Now it is seemly starting all over again ! I think they need to have a call back list for when the parts are available and get this issued fixed. . . This is a safety issue ! I think this is not my responsibility, I didn't build the 2003 pick up or sell it ! now it feels like they are running out on what is expected of them. . . Just like the Ford dealer did! only this time I am not wiling to keep calling like the last time ! if they have been sued to make this a recall issue or someone was injured because of it, you would think that they are responsible and liable ! they should be taking a bit more of solving the problem ! thank you, frank j brown owner of 2003 Dodge p/u.

There was no incident. I am complaining that we keep getting recall notice for passenger airbag inflator housing. The dealer says that they are keep being told that it is on back order. The dealer states that they have several customers waiting for this recall part. They encouraged me to contact you for assistance. The dealer ordered our part in January 2015.
My complaint refers to NHTSA-safety recall number: r26/nhtsa15v-312; recall date: may 29,2015. Involving the takata airbag inflators: my vehicle was named: 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with a cummins diesel by the manufacturer, Chrysler, dba ""fca- us -llc pobx 218008, auburn hills michigan. One week later,I notified my local Dodge dealer: (huntington new york Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, ram located at 1220 east jericho turnpike, huntington, new york 11743, phone: 1-866-525-7118. I called the dealership today and their reply was, "the part to correct this is still not in". This is a very serious health & safety issue. It has been 8 months since my recall notice. I want your agency to determine if Chrysler has put a plan in place to deliver the parts to the dealers and what is the specific timeline and provide the public with the name, job title, address & phone number of the persons at Chrysler who are being held accountable for this remedy, yet to be performed.
