Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problems of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Steel brake line behind gas tank which connect to rubber hose line completely rusted out almost get killed by slamming onto a tree to stop.

Noticed brake fluid on driveway. Brake line near fuel tank rusted through, almost all through. Line broke by touching it.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph and braking, the brake pedal traveled to the floor board. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the flexible hose on the brake line became detached and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer were it was repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

The main brake line going to back brakes, where it tees off ,the hose crimp let go. The brake peddle when to the floor, going about 65miles hr. Then 01/03/2014 the left wheel hose blew off, other crimp failure,had truck aaa to the repair shop. Had all hoses replaced at that time because this time it happened in my drive way not on the road thank god.

The contact inspected the vehicle and concluded that the metal fittings on the brake line mount was corroded and became separated, causing the front brakes to malfunction. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,434.

Rear brake hose from the frame to the axle, connectors on the hose had rotted away and the connector came away from the hose causing all of the brake fluid to escape and causing no brakes. I was coming down off of a bridge and had to divert to a open field to stop. No injuries. The line had to be replaced. Took three (3) days to fined the part. The connector should have been made out of a non-corrosive material. The cost to repair the line was $473. This should be looked into for the next incident could be deadly to another party. I have the part if you need to inspect the connector.
