Seven problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel pick up truck suddenly loses power and stalls while traveling on highway and entering highway. First occurrence entering highway truck restarted and continued to run. 2nd occurrence next day on highway truck restarted but travelled short distance and stalled again in the road. Towed to dealer. Dealer replaced batteries and battery wiring and truck started, but when test driven by dealer the vehicle continued to stall. Dealer now believes fuel pump or "module" may be cause but is having trouble testing due to manufacturer change in wiring. Dealer reports that Chrysler made a mid year fuel pump "modification" to 2004 models while in production at Chrysler and that while wiring is similar to 2005 year, the color coding used on the modification does not match the 2004 or 2005 color coding. Dealer has requested wiring schematic from Chrysler for the 2004 modification but to date Chrysler has been unable to provide any information. Vehicle is unsafe to operate on road since stalling can occur at any time without warning. Vehicle remains in shop at Chrysler dealer with problem unsolved. All maintenance on this vehicle has been done by Chrysler dealerships. No previous issues with fuel system or stalling.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while decelerating at low speeds. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not always restart after stalling. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic on numerous occasions, but the failure was not diagnosed. Some of the engine coils were repaired, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
: the consumer stated the vehicle intermittently stalled when the gas pedal was lightly depressed. In the mornings when the vehicle is first started, the engine made a pattering sound. When the transmission was shifting gears and the gas pedal was depressed the rpm's ranged at 6,000 and the engine revved. The vehicle was inspected by the local dealership, but the problem could not be duplicated.
2004 Dodge Ram 2500 hemi stall w/loss of power steering and brakes. My truck was bought new from hood river Dodge, oregon, and has been in for repair because of the engine dying right after accelerating from a stop with loss of power steering and braking. They have had it 9 times starting last April and it has happened 12 times. Most of the time in the middle of an intersection and one on a narrow interstate bridge. There are numerous reports on the web of this happening all across the country with 2004 and some 2005 Dodge ram trucks and some durangos equipped with the hemi engine. Dealer has worked with daimler Chrysler tech's and engineers to no avail. Dealer says it is Chrysler problem and they need to come up with fix. I have contacted the Dodge consumer line, 800-992-1997, 9 times. They prompted me to send in card in " owner's rights under state lemon laws" booklet and I was called on 11/10/05 and told they received the card and would contact me in 7-10 days. I have not been called back so I called 800# again and they said it was in the hands of there zone office, mark hyland, 866-337-7515 ext 3391, where I left a message on 12/22/05. I have also filed 3 NHTSA safety complaints. When I asked the daimler rep named nikki, id 7cs, on 12/22/05 to speak to a supervisor she told me that they did not talk to customers. When I became irate she put me on hold and a man named dante came on and gave me the info about the zone office, what is daimler Chrysler and the NHTSA waiting for people to be injured or killed before reacting? I have left messages twice at the zone office and they will not return my calls.
04 2500 truck had poor power and was losing a lot of oil on the highway. It was determined by dealership a thrown rod. I have the banks power system installed and was told warranty was voided.
The contact stated while driving the vehicle it stalled intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealership multiple times. However, the dealership was not been able to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer has been contacted.
The contact stated while driving vehicle stalled. The dealer replaced a computer chip to correct the problem. The replacement corrected the problem. Currently, while the vehicle was idling at a stop or when the brakes were applied quickly, the vehicle seemed like it was going to stall. The manufacturer was aware of the problem, but they were waiting to receive another type of software to install in the vehicle.
