3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2007

The fuel pump on my Dodge diesel failed on me while driving with my wife and 2 month old daughter during one of the worst snow/ice storms of the season. We were in rural central missouri about 7 miles from the nearest town. Fortunately we were in an area where we had cell phone service and were able to call a friend to come and get us. What makes me furious is that I later found out this type of malfunction is very common and Dodge has actually discontinued the original under hood fuel pump because of it's poor history and I had to pay almost $900 to have an in tank fuel pump installed. I feel this should be a recall item because I don't feel I should have to pay for their poor engineering.
