1. The panic alarm randomly goes off without be activated by anyone. Possibly a tipm issue which couldn't be investigated because it randomly went away. Maybe it will go off in the middle of the night in my subdivision. Who knows it's unpredictable. 2. Right turn signal & stop light would not work on the trailer. I confirmed that it wasn't an issue with the trailer but it was a problem with the tipm (totally integrated power module) output (not working). The tipm has a long history of intermittent electrical failures. This is a safety issue and a vehicle investigation for all vehicles that have tipms. Tipms have been known to cause random vehicle stall & other intermittent random electrical failures and shut downs since 2006 when they were first put in vehicles. A recall is long overdue because this is only 1 example of a minor problem. I've only owned the vehicle for 1 week. . . What's next? tipms can cause the vehicle to act intermittently crazy. No warning lamps or fault messages.
The climate control will not change to defrost. It will only blow out the dash vents. My windshield foged up while driving 70mph and I could not see. Had to stop every few miles to use my t-shirt to clean it off. Very dangerous what if I was on a small country road, there is not much room for errors.
In 2006, I bought this truck new and for the 3rd time I am again putting it in for repairs for the same problem, a /c blend doors. I do not believe this is a safety issue, but has cost me an average of $1000. 00 each time (x3). The last visit I had the cooling system replaced (2019) and here again the same problem has happened again. This first time I had the dealer fix it and I recall that visit cost me around $2500. 00. I still like this vehicle and it runs fine with 124. 000 plus miles. But, if I decide to get rid of it it will be because of this a/c problem and will have an impact on what to replace it with.
The truck is currently at a service station as it developed a "death wobble" while driving down the freeway a shimmed so hard I couldn't control it but managed to get it to the side of the road and finally to a stop. I did not receive any type of warning. I am being told by the mechanic at the service station it is going to require a rebuild of the front suspension. After checking to see if this has been a recall issue, I found there had been 3 but I did not receive notification of this particular recall. Not sure if the age of the truck prevents me from going back to have Dodge resolve this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I bought the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with 149,500 miles on the odometer(it now has 165,550 as of 7/26/20) and about 5 months after buying the truck, I ran a car fax on the vehicle to see if had any previous accidents and found out that April 8th 2019 at the auto auction southeastern region, the truck was reported having 191,613 miles on the odometer.
We were driving down interstate 30 in mt vernon TX at approximately 65 mph and heard loud explosion and it was the sunroof that shattered for no apparent reason because there were no vehicles in front of us so not likely any debris could have hit it.
The transmission shift cable will break at the plastic connections behind the steering column where the shift lever attaches to the cable, I have called several dealerships around the country and have been told that they are on back order there a several thousand on back order and there is no time of release of parts.
Started with tail lights on right rear side not working. Replaced the circuit board for the right rear lights, replaced all the bulbs on the circuit board. Still having problems, now the right rear turn signal won't work. Into the shop again,no short in wiring harness, took the turn signal switch apart cleaned all the grease off everything and still not working. A friend toke it to a dealership where he works, hooked it up to there diagnostic computer and found that the tipm needs replaced for $1,000. 00.
I was getting my pickup serviced at a shop (not a dealer) and they advised me of the front end problems and the danger of continuing to drive it and I could see the problem with the front end. I had the repairs made as I was unable to get to a dealer which would be 40 miles away. Dodge is refusing to pay anything on the repairs because they were not made at a dealership. We live in montana and there is not a dealer on every corner and I was unable to get to one. It was not safe to drive it.
When driving at highway speeds and hit a bump in the road the truck shakes violently, causing loose of control to a degree, while trying to slow the vehicle down. At approximately 30 mph mark the shaking stops and driving can continue as normal until the next bump, at which time the process starts over. This is a major hazard if anyone is behind you the potential of being rear-ended is great as you have to greatly reduce speed to regain control of your vehicle.
2006 Dodge ram power wagon, first the truck started when it wan't to, we would hold the key several times and it would start, then after about a week the truck would not turn on at all: replaced battery replaced started replaced alternator check the electronics in the steering column a friend came and check it on his computer and it said over voltage he reset the computer and it started. Now I can not keep the battery charged, I have unlooked any extra lights I had added my remote start. I read last week that there is a fiber optic line that would disconnect if there was an extreme shaking, I got new tires and they were bad so the truck shook ever bad. What are your thoughts?.
Continuously leaking power steering gear box. This is the 2nd replacement in less than 3500 miles and 3 months. When the vehicle is turning, it will squirt power steering out of the adjustment screw on top of the gearbox. Going 15-19 mph, the front end begins to vibrate; I can feel it in steering wheel but do take notice in the front end shaking. Not bad now but seems to be getting worse. The sound of coins can be heard in the ashtray/coinholder. Is there something going on here that needs to be looked at. Dodge dealership advises I need to buy a new steering gear box. How many do you have to buy? I am getting ready to buy my 3rd one in 4 months!!!! does this help steering? Dodge will not even look at this; I feel all they want to do is sell parts.
Owner had a head on collision with a tree. Although there were brake marks, there seemed to be a loss of steering control. Alchol was not a factor in the incident. The vehicle was deemed a total loss and remains on hold for inspection by Dodge (which will hopefully done in a timely manner-ASAP). There were many documents of repairs to the vehicle which I disposed of before finding this recall notice. It was purchased in 2014 by current driver.
Steering has horrible vibration and wobble at 19 mph. Seems to be getting worse. Have already replaced two steering gear boxes on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. Still not fixed. With recent news on Dodge rams; I am surprised they have not looked at this model years as well as many model years are having same issue. Beginning to be nervous driving the vehicle and the history of this issue with other models and really afraid the shaking is so serious it will eventually cause a wreck or loss of life. This is the 3rd report from me already. Also taken it to Dodge service center and they just peered under the truck and said everything was good. Didn't even attempt to test drive and see for themselves. I have even attempted to notify Dodge corporate last year when it started and not even a return call or message. Feel trapped and lost. Please look at these model years as well. Already had recall h46 conducted and they just told me it was not a problem. Now I have another recall n62 and never got a notice for it; just happen to look up recall notice. VIN is 1d&ks28c36j214020 I think this steering is more widespread and would want further investigation. I am going to take Dodge in for n62 and r25 recall and I bet the dealership will just peek at it and tell me nothing is needed, as always. No more trust in Dodge, please help.
We have received 3 reacall notices about the left tie rod ball fractureing on our truck. We have had it inspected by the dealer and it is one of the vehicles affected. We have been told repeatedly that we are on the waiting list but we are 9 months out from the recall and still have no time frame of repair. We use our truck frequently as our daughter competes in high school rodeo. We have several long trips coming up and are a bit concerned for our safety on the road. We would greatly appreciate any help in getting our vehicle repaired ASAP.
I rarely use my four-wheel-drive on my 2006 Dodge ram cummings diesel mega cab not sure exactly when it starts to happen but it was somewhere under 30,000 miles I noticed a small rattling sound underneath my truck I tried to find and locate it myself. So I went on to some forms and checked with people to see if they knew what that rattling sound could be. They all said the same thing that the u joints were giving out some as little as 15,000 miles so I checked my you joints ensure and off my you joints were wearing out I'm both sides on the front wheel steer wheels on my 4 x 4 this seems to be a common problem with the cummins diesels and especially with the Dodge mega cabs seems to be a common problem with the 2006 Dodge ram I would appreciate it if you would check the Dodge forms in see for yourself this is a big problem in Dodge refuses to do anything about it to cover their mistakes the main problem with the u joints is that you cannot grease them now mind you I work on a lot of heavy-duty vehicles mostly 18 wheelers in something like this seems like a no-brainer I feel Dodge should have to compensate or replace u joints with proper ones I hope you agree for when you check into it this is a very expensive fix for a common problem is happening in a lot of 2500 and 3500 Dodge 2005-2006+ vehicles ps thank you for your time and I hope you can solve this problem.
Damper in ac duct broke multi complants on line all Dodge owners I've talked to with a Dodge rams says they had the same problem.
Ignition key will fall out at times while vehicle is running. Able to remove key at any time. Dealer said it was not covered by warranty at the time. Even with nothing on the key ring but the key, it can easily come out while the vehicle is running. It can also at times turn off with ease.
1)the ac / heater motor starting making a loud vibrating sound and very little air was coming from the vents. 2). The recirculation door which is located above the fan (in the duct) broke and fell on top of the blower fan. This door controls weather outside air is used or the air is recirculated throughout the vehicle. As a result the ac/heater and most importantly the defroster would not work. An internet search of this problem reveals many different Dodge years and models having the same problem. The part can be replaced by the dealership for a cost of approximately $700. The dash must be removed to replace the part. Most people (along with me) are removing the fan motor and simple removing the recirculation door altogether which is a cheap semi-fix. . Read more...
